Not sure what to take from that. Gyokeres has always been very driven and blunt on what he wants. Hamer by most accounts is like a much more talented Paul Telfer

Well he seems very public and good at sharing information that becomes public

Wages
Family circumstance.
Wants to stay
What wages he wants to stay
Now he wants to stay but might have to leave

Nothing very secret is there - he likes to share

I've already reported the club to the Modern Slavery Helpline, the b*stards holding Hamer against his will.

For the record it was not me that started the slavery discussion

Not long ago you were arguing that this whole story isn't true anyway. Have you changed your mind?
If you take it at face value, then he should be allowed to go right here right now.

Other ways of seeing is that an awful lot of people have an awful lot of different speculations about Hamer, and that is either unfair on him as it exposes his personal thoughts and intentions to an audience that has no right to that, or it's intentional to create what Hamer had wanted all along.

Stop with the slavery chat it’s a football thread

Would fans take Gus running his contract down if he performed to the same level as last season?

Yes, as long as he gets us a top 6 finish again.

Tbf, if he does run his contract down, I'd be gutted to lose him and a big fee, but he's still been great value for the 1.5m he cost us.
And should still have legend status.
Him and Vik carried us for much of last season, especially after we lost O'hare and Palmer to injury.

The club is quite entitled to hang on to him if they can't get an acceptable price for him. To be perfectly honest, he needs to either hand in a transfer request or sign the deal. A year in limbo does nobody any favours.

I was in the camp of keep Hamer for a season and let him go free but when you think it's like paying 5-10m for a loan player for one season it's a pretty ridiculous thought

So do you now believe that this is the stumbling block rather than his head being turned by clubs offering better terms?

There are football players and other sports people who have been subject to human trafficking. Indeed we have had one on our books. But cheapening this horrendous crime with comparisons to Hamer's position (which we don't even know) isn't acceptable. Modern slavery is no joke.

Can't argue with that.

As for the rest then yes, the club are entitled to keep him, but it's not really the moral thing to do. Even if being selfish, there were some allusions on here that his early season ropey form and sendings off was partly linked to personal issues. It also does nobody any favours to have an unhappy player and person below their potential.

You had the option to leave as a teacher when you were unhappy

It’s incredibly cruel to force someone to stay as they can’t escape the chains of their contract

All modern liberal people on here would want kindness for an individual above selfish gains surely?

Honestly you are a total fuck head for comparing footballers to some of the horrible shit that happens in modern slavery you should be ashamed for even trolling with this.

Eh? This is a link to Bosman and the ruling where the EU said it was slavery - take it up with Brussels

So you would keep him against his will? At least now we know - and you really need to see a wider narrative here
