It’s a lovely Gish gallop and I’m not going to spend time writing up 27 replies as you probably expected when posting it, but that article is laughable.

So according to you backing Sam Tarry is a Labour Core Belief

Like all these complaints it’s a mixture of: fortune telling what’s actually going to happen, tenuous links between a policy and an action (the Tarry stuff for example), and actual changes.

Just pick the one that really matters to you. I’ll go first: gutted we arent promising proper green spend. It’s my number 1 issue. But your answer is what exactly? Keep the Tories who don’t even believe in climate change?

Anything I raise in response you’ll go “well I don’t believe that will happen” and anything I say don’t happen you’ll say you believe it will. It’s pointless. So we are left with just the conspiracy theory that Labour MPs are secretly right wing cos you say so.

Number 9 was “Action to Secure an Equal Society”. In which he said “We will take action to tackle violence against women and girls, racism and discrimination on the basis of faith”. And then he turned a blind eye to the point denial to antisemitism in his party rather than deal with it.

I suspect that if you looked at any leader of any political party, what they promised to get the job or at a GE to get into government and then look at what they actually delivered there isn’t going to be many ticks in boxes. If that’s your hill to die on where Starmer is concerned you’re probably just as well ignoring politics full stop, don’t vote, don’t read the news etc. because what Starmer has done is standard in politics.

The comment about taxes and spending didn’t start with me. My question was about the actual compromises the Tories have had to make in government or while electioneering. Seems to me they had to make some social policy ones while with the Lib Dems but since it’s only been them in charge they’ve gone more rogue with each reincarnation.

Cut spending all over the place, pledge to send refugees to Rwanda, Liz Truss’ any % crash the £ speed run, Boris proroguing Parliament etc etc. They’ve compromised on jack shit. But if a shadow minister dares to appear on a picket line he’s out because it looks a bit too Bolshy.
