True, but I don't think they cost much, so as such probably worth a punt, and the best we could get for our budget back then.

Waghorn was a quality player, who looked to of lost his pace.

Clarke Harris had all the attributes and tbf has had a fantastic scoring record since leaving. Rumour has it his attitude may have been questionable at times.

Walker had scored goals elsewhere, but was just lazy imo, and Mcguire was a decent player, just never a goalscorer.

Interestingly these "failures" occurred under our stats driven recruitment policy!!!! (#shmmeee) just saying 😘
Quality was a stretch - he was a very good championship player in his day but they'd long gone with us

He is on record stating he never wanted to leave Derby anyway and had they not have been in complete meltdown financially we would have never signed him

I seem to recall Robins wanted Waghorn against the advice of our the small scouting team.

Just for reference, a players height doesn’t always equate to aerial ability. In fact, I’ve seen loads of short arses who can out-jump comparatively taller, stronger players; Fabio Cannavaro being one of them.

Jan Koller, the Czech striker who was built like a pole vaulter (202cm/6’’7’’) was atrocious in the air.

Obviously there are more than those examples, like Sean Flynn for us who was about 5’7’’ and would often somehow manage to out-jump most players.

Lower centre of gravity + less muscle mass can often allow a short arse to ‘spring’ more than, say, a strapping defender of greater height. Physics innit.
And shorter players with a lower centre of gravity generally have better mobility and balance. That, along with timing, made the already mentioned David Speedie a great example. He scored loads of goals with his head

Yes, balance and mobility are key, as well.

That’s why we see the gangly, overly tall players having worse balance, questionable mobility and therefore less jumping ability, than a short arse like Speedie or Flynn. Zola as well, who had a great leap on him.

Unsure mate, I am under the impression its Robins and Adi back from their breaks, and they want to crack on with getting the main ones through the door ( would assume that also means those they want out can also progress)
Sounds like it’s more about incomings then?

Well I've got to come back with tail between my legs.

Robins and Adi go away this week, not come back.

That will teach me for not listening properly.

Feel free to chastise me all, you have until 9pm for abuse 😂😂
So as you weren't listening properly, could it be we are more likely to get someone called Alan, who is brown, rather than a player called Alan Browne?

To be fair, doesn't mean things won't still move next week, just might not be announced.

They would of been working with Austin and Doug closely on plans and having talks with potentially targets over the last fews weeks. I would imagine some deals are already agreed in principle or its just a matter of waiting for answers on offers we have made.

With the window open on the 14th, going away which would of pre planned makes sense. Could be a quiet couple of weeks yet, but just hope we are ahead in a few deals to get a good start for preseason.

Browne, Rudoni and Leonard would be a nice 3 to start the build up to the players returning.

The curious thing is who has leaked the valuation to Nixon. Normally it’s obvious.

im not sure it’s in anyone’s interest ….

The valuation is so extreme that any other club is put off…. Doesn’t work for Rudoni or Huddersfield and Cov don’t need to leak it.

BREAKING NEWS:

Coventry City sign Alain Braun from obscure French team La Orange, for a few sheep and a goat.

In other news Callum O’Hare still hasn’t packed his bags and fucked off, because nobody wants him anymore.

ANOTHER CET EXCLUSIVE. 📰 👏🤣

Seems an odd time to go away. You'd think they'd get the holidays out of the way as soon as the season is over.

He wasn't on Pro Evo. I still have nightmares of my brother crossing it into him!

Why because it suits you? They already sacrifice most weekends and public holidays during the year.
