Pretend? He has not mentioned Adi. Nothing from him on the statement released by the club.

I get your point about his involvement with the new coaches just find it very odd it’s been announced all of a sudden today without any word from Robins.

Robins is quoted in the statement by the club thanking him? Or have you just read the headline

Not at all. Players are at Ryton for fitness tests for the first few days. Robins has nothing to do with it or the new coaches.
People need to get off the blokes case. He's only had 5 holidays this summer, so what if he wants to squeeze in number 6.

The worst bit is underneath where it says most people on this forum are clowns but using GIMOC as an example as one of the few who isn't. I'm slightly lost for words.

Pretty sure this will be a Doug thing
Really hope he recognises the part robins plays in the success of the club and doesn’t over reach like many before and after him. Though not necessarily at Coventry
Decision heavily influenced by the Performance Director Dr Roberts. She is calling the shots !

My mistake then? Sure I saw one earlier somewhere with a Mark Robins quote. Anyway it is all pretty standard stuff.

It really isn’t standard stuff for a guy who the club will be well aware is highly regarded by the players, and supporters. The fact that Robins isn’t even quoted is odd.

I don’t know what has happened, but something has and the fact Robins is t quoted and Adi isn’t quoted tells you it wasn’t mutual.

When you watch Coventry Unseen it appears that the players are absolutely loving it at the City. When Adi came out on the pitch after our brilliant cup wins, everything looked hunky dorey.
I felt that when Adi arrived, the whole dynamic of the club changed. MR and Adi reminded me of Clough and Taylor at their best.
In the recent interview, Adi was saying that the Prem dream was the aim, and I think we would have achieved it with him.
Using a music analogy, bands that stay together often are way more successful than their different incarnations. See Oasis, Kinks, Specials, Pearl Jam, Coldplay etc
Adi is a winner wherever he has been as part of a management team. You cannot create that out of nothing no matter how things modernise and new methods come in. It is about being a people person and Adi is up there with the best.
I am hoping Adi wanted to leave or this decision could come back to bite us in the next few years.
I still believe we can get promoted this season, but it is the long-term future I worry about.

He's in tenerife

Really, over 6 weeks since the end of last season and isn't back in time for the start of pre season training.

That's not showing commitment is it. Not a good example to players.

Unless he has Personal issues of course.

I assume you mean the new coaches have nothing to do with the fitness tests, not that Robins has nothing to do with the new coaches...?

That is my suspicion too.

She wants to modernise the clubs approach and sees Adi as a bit of a dinosaur …..
Again guys, I point you back to my previous comments - I really think you misunderstand and overestimate her role. She is essentially head of sports science. There is nothing to suggest she has the power to go into other departments and start firing people. She is (essentially) chief medic.

I agree that Adi leaving is fishy but her promotion is far more likely to be a consequence of Adi leaving than her decision.

I think the fact that she was quoted in the hiring statement today may suggest she is more influential than we realise ….

So far not many current players thanking Adi on their socials….. maybe they will later. Unusual for modern social media savvy players …..

She is a director. Obviously as performance director coaching is a big part of that and "Dr Roberts will work in unison with the senior football management team and report to the Executive Chairman." She is clearly in that inner circle. But her core expertise is in sports psychology. The idea that she has just waltzed in and sacked Robins' right hand man without his consent is (in my view) unsupported by evidence.

No one has said that…..

Is it really that fanciful that she may have said to Mark and Doug that she finds Adi less open to her methods than is ideal, or that players have talked to her about the challenges they have with Adi and his style. IF she has positioned Adi as a barrier to future modernisation of the club then she won’t have made the decision but she will have materially influenced it ….

It might be that Robins spoke to Adi about his style and Adi made it clear that he wasn’t open to materially altering it ….

if robins is still here at the end of the week then he must be ok with this. it might may or may not have been his idea, but it's inconceivable to me that they would effectively sack the no2 without the manager being on board with the decision.

none of us saw the relationship for real. maybe it had just run its course.
