Article seems legit but why post about a player who the article says has already turned down a move elsewhere ?

But he does fit our profile. Aged 25 and a central midfielder.

Exclusive: Englishmen lure Lausanne playmaker Antoine Bernede
Yaleo
Antoine Bernede has made great progress at Lausanne-Sport over the past year and a half. This has prompted other clubs to take action. Coventry City is luring the playmaker from England, who is said to have already turned down Auxerre.

Last season did not go at all to Lausanne-Sport's liking. Although the Vaudois team, as a newly promoted team, had nothing to do with being relegated straight away, the club, led by coach Ludovic Magnin, is generally thinking big.

For Antoine Bernede, however, the past season was excellent. The 25-year-old was what is generally referred to as an undisputed regular player. In the Super League, he only missed one game due to a yellow card suspension, and he also played a part in the attack, scoring one goal and providing four assists. Bernede made one of the most passes and was also one of the top players when it came to winning the ball.

Bernede's fantastic season has put him on the wish list of other clubs. According to information from 4-4-2.ch , English second division club Coventry City has signalled interest in working with Bernede. There have reportedly been several discussions with the player's entourage. However, as things stand, no concrete transfer negotiations have taken place yet.

English advances: Lausanne-Sport does not want to give up Antoine Bernede

And if Coventry were to force them, they would be quite difficult. Bernede is one of the heart of the entire game at Lausanne-Sport, many actions go through him, and the Frenchman also repeatedly initiates dangerous actions himself. As a result, Lausanne has no real interest in giving up its key player. And, unlike many other Swiss clubs, it is not dependent on transfer revenue.

As this editorial team also learned, Bernede has already turned down an offer. Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre are said to have tried the former Paris Saint-Germain youth player. Bernede, however, was not interested in moving to the banks of the Yonne. When he signed a permanent contract a year ago, Lausanne gave Bernede a contract until 2026.

Created more chances than Sheaf last season. Seems a similar kind of player.

We don't play a standard CM so it's difficult to get real comparisons.

But try and look at Eccles or O'Hare (before and after his ACL). Bet Eccles is better slightly. And apart from the 3 month spell after his return when he scored for fun, O'Hare was often slated for lack of goal involvement.

Looks good on paper, but can't help thinking that another CM player may see the end of Sheaf 😱

No it won’t, we need another central midfielder in my opinion
Correct, we have 5 CMs to cover 3 positions and to be honest, I’m not sure Allen is up to the required standard. Sheaf and Torp have had their issues with injuries so we need that depth.

Yes, Lati is there for cover too, but he’s covering CB and RB where there isn’t as much depth.

Clearly they're targeting a number 6 to come in as we move to 433
Seems like the profile we are chasing, after the stamenic debacle and now this. Surprises me as I thought Sheaf or Eccles would play the 6 and we would be looking at another 8 to compete with Rudoni and Torp.

True although perhaps Sheaf is wasted in that single pivot role, if that's they way we are going.

You would expect 433 to be more solid defensively than last season which was our main issue.

If we bring in another CM player, how much game time is Jamie Allen going to get?
Someone's got to go.
To be perfectly honest fatso I don’t really think Jamie Allen is the level to play for us consistently anymore, been a great squad player for us over the years no doubting that.

Id be also more than happy to have in and around the squad and play when we have a few injuries but I don’t think he should be relied upon consistently

I like Jamie Allen I really do, but I'd happily let him go if we could get Bernede in, if he's been on the books of PSG and Salzburg then he can't be half bad, I'd be pleased with this signing if it happens.

How far our interest in Sanches went I don't know but could it be we were looking at Sanches then Bernede came up and we switched? Who knows but it's refreshing to see the calibre of players we're linked with or looking at compared to many seasons ago.

The pricetag of Sanches could've just been too steep. The initial reports were quoting £4m and that's more than we paid for Rudoni who is less of a risk.
