Exclusive: Englishmen lure Lausanne playmaker Antoine Bernede
Yaleo
Antoine Bernede has made great progress at Lausanne-Sport over the past year and a half. This has prompted other clubs to take action. Coventry City is luring the playmaker from England, who is said to have already turned down Auxerre.

Last season did not go at all to Lausanne-Sport's liking. Although the Vaudois team, as a newly promoted team, had nothing to do with being relegated straight away, the club, led by coach Ludovic Magnin, is generally thinking big.
For Antoine Bernede, however, the past season was excellent. The 25-year-old was what is generally referred to as an undisputed regular player. In the Super League, he only missed one game due to a yellow card suspension, and he also played a part in the attack, scoring one goal and providing four assists. Bernede made one of the most passes and was also one of the top players when it came to winning the ball.
Bernede's fantastic season has put him on the wish list of other clubs. According to information from 4-4-2.ch , English second division club Coventry City has signalled interest in working with Bernede. There have reportedly been several discussions with the player's entourage. However, as things stand, no concrete transfer negotiations have taken place yet.
English advances: Lausanne-Sport does not want to give up Antoine Bernede
And if Coventry were to force them, they would be quite difficult. Bernede is one of the heart of the entire game at Lausanne-Sport, many actions go through him, and the Frenchman also repeatedly initiates dangerous actions himself. As a result, Lausanne has no real interest in giving up its key player. And, unlike many other Swiss clubs, it is not dependent on transfer revenue.
As this editorial team also learned, Bernede has already turned down an offer. Ligue 1 side AJ Auxerre are said to have tried the former Paris Saint-Germain youth player. Bernede, however, was not interested in moving to the banks of the Yonne. When he signed a permanent contract a year ago, Lausanne gave Bernede a contract until 2026.
