It does matter, because if it doesn't look like a valid reason to stop them, it then gives fuel to those who say they did nothing wrong and were just picked on because of race.
There must have been a reason to stop them. Not questioning it, just asking what the reason was.
It will pipe some down if it's announced they were involved in some suspicious or nefarious incident.
With nothing being said yet, it does give opportunity to those who announce they did nothing wrong.
It's literally been said they were involved in incidents beforehand.
