We must still have money as we were prepared to pay a lot for Stamenic
Not necessarily. That might have been predicated on selling Sheaf or someone else. Besides we have bought Rudoni and Dovin since.

Decent enough as a back up but not sure how much he played for Hull last year? I wouldn't mind K. Dembele who's on a free, he can play as a striker I'm sure is quick and skillfull.

I wonder if there will be any movement with Ntelo and Bernede this week but there's things going on the background 100% and with the club being tighter then a ducks arse on players we can only wait till they sign.
Dembele is about 5ft so can't see him getting that many games as a striker at our level.

Stamenic rumour leaked saw him signing elsewhere. No rumours is a very good thing.

I agree that rumours not being leaked is a good thing but I think that the Stamenic deal was hijacked because it was shouted about more from Belgrade’s end rather than our end. I’m sure at one point even the assistant manager was on about how good of a deal it was, something just felt fishy about the whole thing.

With certain targets I personally don’t think it’s that big of a deal if other clubs get a whiff of our interest, for example Burrows, everyone knows the player and how good he could be, so it doesn’t matter in that particular instance if there’s a rumour going around or not. Someone like Stamenic is a different kettle of fish because of his calibre and the fact it takes a bit more effort to go out there and scout him etc.

Everyone knows Burrows (playing in League One with P'boro) but Stamenic (playing in the Champions League & internationally for NZ) we need to keep under wraps? Make it make sense

The whole of last season we seen how average Kitching, Thomas, Lat and to a small extent Binks all are.

Sure they aren't bad enough to put us in a relegation scrap, they are much better than that. But they are miles off being the centre backs of a top 4 or 5 finishing side.

I have said it so many times, we need all of our transfer kitty spent on 2 top level championship centre backs.

We will consistently let our key players down last season, because of our poor mid tier defence.

This should be our only concern, we have spent money on a goalkeeper, now it is key we replace the current centre backs with 2 more that are top level.

It we don't sort this out we won't be promoted.

I’d say Kitching and Thomas are good enough as first up options. Binks and Lati are useful but slightly behind the first two. It’s about priorities. We haven’t got endless cash. I wouldn’t be looking to spend a lot on another CH. We are weaker elsewhere.

I think individually they’re all decent enough to be in a promotion side. Robin’s tough task will be finding his first choice settled back line.

There were a few factors that will have negatively impacted the CBs last season such as deciding who our starting LB is but also having a settled midfield in front of it which we were desperately short of last season when we didn’t replace Hamer (Torp was there from January but was injured/settling in).

I think priority has to be CM and ST

So are people all of a sudden saying Kitchen, Binks and Lati are good enough to be top level centre halves? There's only so long 'potential' will get you through. We conceded some utterly ridiculous goals last term.
I'm all for positivity, but I do fear for 3 out of the 4 we currently have.
I want my defenders to be able to defend, rather than play swanky passes and make daring runs a midfielder should be making.

Everyone has different opinions though, and jumping on someone who shares a slightly different one to yourself is not fair.

Our defensive record was better than our league position and only really declined beyond the top 6 in the final 6 games. It was the 5th best defensive record with us having played 40 games.

Exactly, we were poor defensively at the end of the season as a whole, not just the back four and the keeper

How long before you crack out the ‘loser’ remarks?

For teams in the championship looking to add to their squad Burrows is a way more obvious pick compared to a player from Red Star Belgrade that until we were linked with practically no one on here had heard of.

Scouts would have to go out and watch Stamenic play in Europe rather than nipping to Peterborough to watch Burrows play, any team in the championship can do that, hence the interest in him (and cheaper price obviously). We were the only team properly linked with Stamenic because our scouts had put the time and effort to scout him, hence why it should have been more important to keep our transfer under wraps until it’s done. Look at what happened when it got out, a prem team bought him almost straight away, compared to Burrows who’s been linked with every team under the sun and it still took weeks and weeks to complete. There’s other explanations of course but on the face of it it would have been better if Stamenic had been kept under wraps.

Wasn't Burrows cheaper as he had a year left on his deal?

Kitching has a lot to prove this season, I thought he was well below average last season , so let’s hope he’s settled in now and starts to show why we paid good money for him.

Did you not see kitchings own goals mate and Bobby Thomas every other game making error after error. You'll see end of the season where we finish.

Think we will need another CB to add as well as the CM & ST. On yesterday’s evidence I just don’t think Robins trusts Burroughs as he didn’t even get a couple of minutes and he bought Lati on at RB and therefore he is probably our cover there.

It’s a real shame but judging by people’s comments during pre season hex looks completely out of depth at right back.

So based on that its a RB we need

Well it depends where Lati is going to play predominantly, so if Robins is going to put him as CB then yes it would be.
Yeah I fully agree, I think my preference would be Lati in CB as thats where he performed best, and signing a RB, realistically a CB has got to try get ahead of Thomas who was our main Center Half last season and for good reason so it’d be hard to attract another one but you could say the same about RB with MvE, but its probably easier to bring in someone to compete with 1 player rather than 4 players for a position
