Just got to say - I hate it that Sheff Utd have 2 of our best ex-players when we don’t seem to have replaced either of them!
This is going to bite us on the arse now we’ve missed the boat in the transfer window!
Sour grapes I know but this has really pissed me off.

I’m suddenly feeling even worse than before - question - what type of reception will OHare get when he comes back to the CBS - think Gus might be warmly applauded however I’m not sure about OHare.
I might be wrong but I for one felt a little bit let down and shafted when he left!

What I always think is, O'Hare, Sheaf, Gykores, Doyle, Mcnally, etc came from Premiership clubs, Hamer from the Eredivisiie while Rudoni, Thomas, Kitching, EMC, Latibeaudiere, Collins etc don't, a lot were from a league lower

unfortunately thats the model. buy raw, unproven palyers hoping we find another gem

because we got lucky with Vik and Hamer everyone expects every player we bring in to become the same

for every Vik you could get a Tyler walker

for every Hamer you could get a Hilßner

Hopefully we have unearthed another gem or 2 in the current cohort of players

LOL at randomly shoving Latibeaudiere who literally came from Man City’s academy and then Swansea in there!

For every Hilsner you get a Wright. For every Walker a Simms. Or a Van Ewijk. Or a Sakamoto. Depends which narrative you want to serve.

let’s be honest it’s the former most of the time but let’s hope we have found another couple of gems

Rudoni doesn't even look remotely close to either of them.

O'Hare was so underrated because of Vik and Hamer.

He's always been one of the best attacking midfielders in the division and I still maintain he would have done pretty well in the PL.

I’m hopeful we’ve unearthed one with Bassette. Emc needs a goal or a performance of consequence and he may just take off. Dovin has the stamp of a good keeper for me and Rudoni will turn out to be a great piece of business. Yet to see it with Torp but hopefully from our most recent crop there are at least a couple indeed.

You get more “gems” the more you pay. It’s no coincidence that Sheaf Vik and Gus were three of our biggest money signings at the time.

With Cov.. but he bailed. He also under performed for 10 or so games at then end of last season. I’m still gutted that both of them left. But like Palmer, they are journeymen.

O’Hare will tear it up for 9-10 games at Utd and then fade or there will be an issue. The biggest indicator as to his talent is where he’s ended up.

The reality is, 2 of our best players went to a 'bigger club' who were in PL last season. Hamer even got a taste of that and both now earn 2/3 times more than they did before, with a better chance of going up this year.

That's how football works, it's not nice for us but... the way it is. Barnsley lost Thomas and Kitching to us, we now play in Championship, they were also a kick away from being back in Championship but are struggling to get going in League One.

We are still miles off it, I listen to Robins and I do kind of get what he is saying about where we are, where we want to be, reality check, etc. However what I do not agree with is how we are 18 months on and still have not replaced Hamer, the gap in that midfield is GAPING and yet we go into the window and splash money in others areas.

It's just my opinion but we have a very average championship midfield, that's with Sheaf who is out more and more it seems. We are poor at left back and we lack any real leadership.

Kelly, Fadz and Godden were experienced pro's who other players respected and they gave us that edge. I look at the team now and without knowing the players, I don't look at Lati and see a captain. I don't look at Eccles and see a captain. Sheaf also but at least with the latter he leads by example and that's the type of players I wanted to see us bring in. We lack an energy, a tempo and I wonder is that the players just not knowing or wanting to do it, or are they just confused with the the system?

We are 4 games in, so by no means is it panic stations but I'm really not impressed with what I have seen both on the pitch but also from recruitment, not so much investment but where we have invested.

Rant over, enjoy the start of the week everyone.

What I would give for their midfield of Vini Souza, Hamer and Arblaster.

I thought at a very minimum Hamer and Souza were being sold but Arblaster had a lot of Prem interest too.

Stick their midfield in our team and we piss the league.

If we had their midfield stuck into our team would only happen if they default on their transfer payments which is why the got a 2 point deduction. We can only hope🥱

If O’Hare was prem quality he would be there now, he was available on a free and relatively low wages for a top tier team. We might think we are good judges of players but these clubs have scouts and systems who get it right most of the time.

The same then applies to Hamer as the fee is chicken feed and no one even made an offer

Used to be chicken feed the spending rules have made it very difficult to sign players like Hamer. I thought Hamer would get a move to somewhere like Fulham.

Come on, the only club interested was a promoted club last time round and no one was this time.

I love the revisionist history about O’Hare. He’s class, end of. I bet we would have won the playoffs that year if he’d have been fit.
The talk of Rudoni being better is laughable at the moment. He had a good against Oxford, the rest he’s been anonymous

There is obviously something in him the prem clubs don’t fancy fitness maybe an issue and we do see our players and ex players as being better than they maybe are.

Where would Hamer have played if O'Hare had been fit ?
For me the reason we made the playoffs was we adapted and gave Gus a totally free role
