Yeah this is where I am. You need 73ish points for 6th place. That's 1.83 ppg from here on in. Especially as Wright will miss a few games. I even if Robins had turned it around, I thought play offs were over.
I'm not really sure why people fawned over him anyway. That promotion video with him, him singing his own song made a bit of sick come up.One positive in this is that the fawning over King will stop and he’ll be held more accountable.
8 points off anything with 31 games to go isn’t finished.
May as well just request a points deduction every season.

It wasn't emotional, it was sarcasm. Now who is being emotional?
Is just don't think we have the players to put a sustained run over a long period, we will get close at some point, may even get in there, but can it be sustained over period. People will point to the play off season but we had a better first 11 with genuine match winners in Gyokeres and Hamer, and a miserly defence.8 points off anything with 31 games to go isn’t finished.
That's a baffling non sequitur.May as well just request a points deduction every season.
I think this is a good point. Preseason I thought this was our year but it was not a good end to the transfer window. Robin's teams were streaky and when they got on a roll they just seem to find results. But the reality is the squad is horribly unbalanced and lacking in certain attributes. If it is Lampard, he is not likely to instantly fix the back line and if has to field a starting line up without Sheaf, Eccles or Wright it stops looking even remotely 'top 6'.Is just don't think we have the players to put a sustained run over a long period, we will get close at some point, may even get in there, but can it be sustained over period. Read back what you have typed.
So much is just bitterness and emotional nonsense.
Genuinely, what are we consolidating? Mid table? Not sure how you can read bitterness in anything I've said there.
I'm saying why is a season of consolidation worse under Robins than a season of consolidation under a new coach? That's what you're advocating because of the amount of games already played.
As stated I expected a consolidation season this year anyway, as it would be impossible to expect more after all the backroom changes, in my view anyway.
It is what it is and I sincerely hope the new bloke gets the club into the top ten. That would be a pretty successful season all things considering, I reckon.

Teams do it. Every season isn't going to be more than successful than the last, it isn't possible. There's no shame in thinking this year we will rebuild, we will get used to the new structure, we will bring in better players, etc.
If you believe every season is going to be more successful than the previous one then you're going to be disappointed.

I was expecting a top 6 finish this year in the knowledge that if we don’t go up we’d be likely to lose a few next summer and might need another rebuild.
We've had new players and a whole new coaching setup. Double whammy.
Don't see how anyone can say anything less than play offs as a minimum
King pulled the trigger very early and only 7 points off the play offs after just 14 games.
The idea that a new manager will get a free hit this season to build for next season seems crazy to me. It's not how football works at the best of times. If a manager with 7 years of incredible success gets 14 games there's no way the replacement comes in without very high expectations from King. If that wasn't the case it would make the sacking of Robins and even crazier decision
We are 8 points off the playoffs.
Every team has new players, the majority of the players were here last year.
They aren't valid excuses
If that’s your expectation why sack robinsI’d take 17th-18th to be honest
True. But a whole new coaching regime?
More to do with how our only decent forward player is probably going to be out for a whileIf that’s your expectation why sack robins
So if Wright wasn’t out where would your expectation on us to finish beMore to do with how our only decent forward player is probably going to be out for a while
Yes. Style will be important. Obviously won’t be popular with some on here but it definitely played a part in Robins sacking.Mid to upper mid table, faster paced football and an exciting playing style is okay with me
I'm not surprised at all at the correlation between the people that wanted Robins out, and those that are willing to give the new manager lowered expectations.
If you're going to sack Robins, the long-standing, successful manager of CCFC, then the new manager has to produce something better. If we aren't aiming for the playoffs, then what was the point.
