Although described in the headline as a flatulence tax, I read elsewhere its cows burping which releases the methane.(I was reading up about Bovaer which is an additive to animal food which reduces methane output and has caused a bit of controversy).

It just made me laugh wondering where this could logically end up. An additional tax on baked beans perhaps.And statins.

And yes, partly because it looks like it involves farts, which can be funny at times, have you ever seen Blazing Saddles?

Farts are funny. I’m agnostic on methane tax. Not really looked into exactly how much of an issue it is. I liked the story I read about pants for cows to filter it out. Much more my kind of solution.

Think I'm missing something on this story as I have no idea why it is controversial. Do people not realize how many chemicals are involved in industrial farming these days, not like this is the first time they've been used.

From what I've read it does zero harm to the animal and doesn't affect the milk so what exactly are people getting upset about?

It is the anti additive lobby. They don’t believe that this stuff doesn’t get in to the milk and the extremists think it’s part of a Bill Gates conspiracy to reduce the world’s population - which would also reduce CO2 emissions.

I bought some so called plain porridge oats this morning and just had to check. Surprisingly, 1% more sugars than in the sweetened variety. My muesli had even more, It’s the dried fruit that’s the problem with that.And I thought muesli was a healthier option
