I cant see us getting solid at the back with MVE, Collins and JDS as a back line.
I'd rather have some old fashioned solid defensive fullbacks at the moment.

100% agree with all of this - I think some people are clouded by how good they know Sheaf can be, but even playing below par he is still very important to the team, and even if all he does is shield, break up and pass he does it very well…
But he doesn't pass well or shield well at the moment. You continually see players run past him and then him chugging forlornly to chase back.

@Earlsdon_Skyblue1 you ok hun? Given the amount of reactions to my posts I seem to have been living rent free in your head the last couple of weeks ever since you went all in on Sheaf for some bizarre reason, is he shagging your Mrs or something and not letting you join in?

Oh dear.

Mr Intelligent has thrown the toys out the pram. If you're tagging me in posts, I'm not sure you've got the rent free thing round the right way. Perhaps don't write such shit, particularly about Eccles, and people wouldn't laugh at you.

Is he? Still not looking like he wants to be involved enough for me. With his size and speed he should be trying to play like original Ronaldo every week

Don't get me wrong today's cameo was better than recent ones but I don't think it was anything that made me think he's better than basette right now

That said I'd also give him a start soon because he has got it in his locker to go on a scoring run
simms scores more goals.

Simms did well today. Far more grit. Loved it when he came out on top against their keeper.

phew, glad you’re ok - tagged you because I was worried about you silly billy! 😂

So Sheaf is balls deep in your Mrs, and you’re secretly taking a pegging from Eccles?

Eccles is a good player, but he’s behind others for a reason at the minute and Lampard is probably best placed to make that call so happy to agree with whatever he thinks best… I’m not going to point out the irony of your last sentence either, you probably wouldn’t understand…

To come from behind made it a good win. Liked the wing play today. Saka and MVE naturally fit - if the latter could cross it would be perfect.

EMC top class assist.

We must start only one of Eccles and Shesf in my opinion. Just for creativity’s sake. Torp and Rudoni can pick a pass well. Allen can do a job too. Think we need a loan or buy in that area though in Jan.

Simms needs to start with Norm as an impact sub (maybe out wide to partner simms).

2nd half great with swifter passing and singers corner raising their game too!

He has to step up now, as he's fallen down the pecking order.
It's clear from his comments that Lampard has a liking for Bassette.
If Simms doesn't do the business he'll find himself behind BTA too, and when Wright is fit, who plays on the left now that EMC is finding some form?
It could be that Wright becomes first choice CF and Bassette second choice, and Simms and BTA are fighting it out for a place on the bench.

The pressure is definitely on Simms to perform now, when given the chance.

Sorry to hear that mate - hope all is OK.
Mrs told ambulance crew that I had been confused and vague and tasking shite for a week, thi sill surprise many if you who would argue I have been all of that for 5 months. I have a chest infection so now have some antibiotics. If Im no better in a couple of days I either need to see my own gp ( fat chance) or go back to kills mill suggested a head scan might be useful to exclude a brain tumour. Higher risk as I am over 50. The very nice doctor didn’t scare me in th e slightest by saying that. I would have been happier if she had kept tyt much detail to herself. Still, it would explains a lot I guess. i know you will all now be on tenterhooks so I will update as and when.

Sakamoto needs to up his output to stay in the team imo.

Wright and EMC are scoring and assisting too much to not play both players. In my view, Simms will break into the team because he’s a better player than Bassette. If Wright was back tomorrow (he’s not) then I’d play Sakamoto-Wright-EMC.

Playing armchair manager, we like to attack in a 4-4-2 shape at points so I’d like to see Wright and Simms flanked by Rudoni and EMC. Alternatively, EMC on the RW, which I think could suit him just as well.

I'd like to see Wright and Bassette together up front.
Bassette is our only left footed striker and that may give him an edge over Simms when playing two attackers.
EMC is nailed on to be the LW option, but I agree we need a bit more from Sakamoto on the right, but he looks to be getting back to his pre- injury form slowly.

Do you reckon he could ghost from the right wing to the far post to get on the end of his own crosses. Neat trick if he can do it new song needed if he could , he’s here, heKs. there he’s every fucking where EmC , emc. Youknowthe tune. Iomega not sure we can afford to lose his recent far post goal contribution. At the moment.

continue ad infinitum

I actually don’t. Bassette needs a lot of work to become a top Championship player. There’s a lot of great attributes to work with but I can see why MR had on the bench towards the end of his tenure.

We play with one striker and at times today he drifts out to the wings which can blunt our attacks because he’s the one we want in the box. More specifically, we’re putting more crosses in the box and that just doesn’t really suit Bassette’s game. What suits Bassette’s game is when we put the ball in behind defences as we did for him for the penalty. At first glance, it looked to me like his touch was too far ahead of him to have scored had he not been fouled.

My personal view is that Simms was more effective than Bassette as a striker today in terms of his movement in the box.

It's worth pointing out that Lampard didn't throw Simms on until we went 2-1 up, does that mean that he considers Bassette the most likely to score? And would he have left Bassette on if we hadn't of gone 2-1 up?

Clearly Lamps rates Bassette highly.
But credit also to Simms as he did work hard to make an impact from the bench.

Once Wright is fit we will have some great attacking options!

If only we could learn to keep a clean sheet 👍
