It could be argued that he’s only had one very succesful league season in the championship in his entire career.

The obvious counter argument is that he took a team from L2, improved them year on year, and took them to a few penalty kicks away from the PL.
The counter argument to deity is really that not many managers at all have taken teams from league 2 to a penalty kick from the prem ..

Which in itself speaks volumes

I totally agree that Robins was fabulous for Coventry but this debate is about Robins as a Championship manager.

I think he will get a job at this level and he deserves one too. I’m less convinced he’s a top 6 championship manager but I accept others have a different view.

Robins is a city legend and always will be. I’d go as far as naming a stand after him. Will always be thankful for what he did and achieved for us however, weren’t we 4 wins in 30? I know it’s not as straight forward to work out what’s gone wrong - probably a multitude of things but I felt a change was needed all round and I think it time, it may prove correct.

It would be a very poor argument.

The first three seasons were very successful based on expectations at the time, and the fourth only fell away at the very end. Keeping Barnsley up was also very successful.

We obviously had different expectations.

we looked like going down for almost all of the first season.

We didn't. We were in a fight, but a fight it would have been unreasonable not to expect.

That Rotherham game was key, and if we'd have lost, it may have been different, but we didn't and stayed up very comfortably in the end. Stayed up comfortably in a season when staying up by the skin of our teeth would have been a success.

Stoke fan here in peace!

Heard a few people say Robins wasn't exactly the hardest worker, and not keen on training. Is that true?

Hi bud,

Mark is a legend here. Got us from league two to almost the prem. On the two points, he’s a very old school manager not a head coach.

While he was here he left training for Adi to do while he focused on other matters. Can see him going your lot so wish him the best of luck. Will Stoke be able to pay the compo fee?

There wouldn't be a compensation fee would there?

I think there's some concerns he may struggle without Vivesh?
Rumoured when another championship team was looking (Hull) that Coventry are due compo if anyone hires him. No information has come out about this since.

And it’s a test for him on Vivesh. He did his best work with Adi as his number two. Due to them now falling out, mark will be out to prove he can do it on his own.

Was raised by Gary at the start of the year the concern for Mark without a strong assistant from his time at Scunthorpe.

In regards to viveash who knows , all succesful managers have a good team and Robins was no different.

We started slow last season with viveash pretty much the same as this year really.

Last point @Stokie86, he was rumoured to have been turned down by you lot a couple of years ago when you brought in Alex Neil. So will have a determination to do well

Think he will do well and will always be welcome back at the CBS when he comes. Very curious to see who his backroom staff are

Unfortunately too many things out of Robins control changed/went wrong for him. Things immediately behind him crumbling left his position vulnerable. And in months leading up to his exit he sounded exhausted and done to me.

He will be sacked within 12 calendar months most likely. Would have held out for a better employer in his position.

It’s the most common typo on here and it must be picked on every time.
Read my signature, grammatical mistakes of the type highlighted are legion on this forum and all over the internet, the education system fails nearly every time.
