I didn’t say it was but that’s how we got them 2 players through the door

I would hazard a guess he’ll go for more than 80 mill now though

I disagree but either way it’s not something we had control over. Plenty to slate Doug about outside of that.

No chance. I reckon he goes for about 65m if he moves

Europe’s no1 forward for 2024

another hat trick the other night

he's easily worth 80mill and teams will pay it

solanke went for 65 mill. to say they’ll get the same or less for Vik is mental

We were going to sign a midfielder for £4 or 5m… where’s that money gone?

I think some minor details may be getting lost in translation. To use one example, say FL wants to sign a CB, King would probably be within his rights to agree but on the condition we sold one of the 4 CBs we have e.g. Lati/Kitching. The two defenders people have suggested have interest and may be moved on.

Which wouldn’t be ‘one in, one out’. We have replaced Kelly, McFadz or Palmer in terms of squad head count.
We've bought Bassette and BTA since then

I’m not saying Solanke was worth 65mil but scored goals in the prem, and English I can see why he cost that much.

rightly or wrongly teams will be apprehensive about spending big from Portugal after Darwin Nunez.

I don’t see which teams would be in for him to warrant a battle to get his signature and push his price up

I could plausibly believe that that the £2.5m for Bassette could eat into that budget but not both. We got a small fee for Godden and always needed a 3rd striker that must’ve been budgeted for.

I’m not sure why Robins would have sanctioned signing another striker if it came out of ring-fenced funding for a midfielder. That would make zero-sense.

We then sold Palmer for £750k to £1m and that freed up a decent wedge of wages. There has to be some funding leftover.

We burned through the cash from sales a while ago. The budget is whatever Doug wants to spend and will vary with his wishes and nothing else.

The club will be losing 5million a season at least. That will be where some of your money has gone. The owner isn’t going to indefinitely keep covering losses. I think people on here have real short term memories when it comes to previous ownership. We’re going to trade players where we can to continue to invest in the squad and club as a whole. There’s no magic money tree.

so to cut across the various tangents that have arisen…..

a winger, either Jordan James or Sorba Thomas, has flown in today, to be announced tomorrow?
Things might have changed now sheaf’s out, even more desperate for a centre mid,and Thomas is a right winger, we need a left ? James makes more sense, plays left right and centre mid

Our two best players are left wingers. We don’t need a left winger.

We haven’t got a league game for two and Wright is back on the grass. If we’re short of funds it would be mental to sign someone for maybe one game.
It’ll be a loan if it’s even true, we don’t need a right winger either, sakamoto and Raphael, it’ll be James if it is one of those 2

it makes sense to me that the budget may well have changed based on our league position and form.
if we were in the top 6 we'd likely be happy paying a bit over the odds for a player to maintain that momentum. but that's not the case, so paying over the odds in the jan window doesn't make sense.
we'll likely let a couple of players go if we can live without them, and may well let an asset go if it's an offer we can't refuse.
other than that we may pick up a player or 2, but i'm not expecting big money to be spent.

Haji Wright is a striker and he’s scored most of his goals this season playing as a striker.

If we had a fully fit squad available tomorrow, he’d be playing striker.

I mean that’s not true but OK. We had a fully fit squad at the start of the season and he didn’t.

1 step forward then 2 steps back .. I have my opinion the DK maybe a SISu puppet with no money to invest , but makes an income from selling on . I honestly thought DK should come good but not so sure now . Please prove me wrong because at this time he’s not convincing me 1 little bit.
