You can’t replace the EU. Trade is mostly based on geography. Thats why Brexit was so dumb.
What was dumb was the EU developing in to an interfering and wasteful quasi government insisting on open borders instead of staying what we had previously voted in 1975 to stay a part of which was a trading partnership - the EEC.

If it had stayed as such I seriously doubt there would have been a referendum and / or Brexit. Mind you, the bastards would have nabbed our Covid vaccines. The Special Military Operation to liberate them would have been interesting.

I know , it's a bloody good effort tho for someone from "customer complaints". Bless.
Embarrassing for our once Great Britain. Truly.

Mate you voted in a towel folder, a failed marmalade salesman, a journalist, and a nepo baby city boy as chancellor. Maybe shut up, you’re making yourself look silly.

And you say others get their views from Twitter. Copy and pasted as many phrases as you could.

I really don’t understand people prostrating themselves for millionaires. Do you think they’ll send you some cash if you look stupid enough on the internet in their defence?

As opposed to just looking stupid on the internet all the time?

Starmer is a millionaire isn’t he? He should be sending you loads of money on that basis.

Not quite right.

Thing is I can agree about the EU over regulating (though I think the meme is overdone and the data isn’t as clear cut as some would have).

But as we’ve seen with AI and bottle tops because of market realities we can’t really have a different legislative environment to the EU because we aren’t big enough to justify it so companies will lump us in anyway. So much better we had a veto and could shape these rules than just taking what’s decided without us.

Not quite on the level of Musk or Sunak, he owns some property basically. Same as Corbyn.

It’s just so transparent man. Daily Mail prints a headline, Elon Musk makes a post, and like good little worker bees out come a bunch of people they wouldn’t piss on if they were on fire to parrot it.

I’m guessing Nick is making the stupid point that the two governments of different flavours rejecting yet another inquiry because they knew in the future an ex Labour MP would be caught by nonce hunters.

Like, have different opinions sure, but let’s at least stick in the vague general area of reality. But that’s boring and hard to understand so better to believe internet fairy tales about shadowy cabals of pedos and that you’re some kind of Van Helsing but for nonces instead of vampires.

“It was founded by three University College London students” I mean yeah technically but Demis Hassabis is a touch more than a student lol.

The problems here are the same as any start up tbh. There’s no real venture capital here.
Just seems like you can label any old shit AI and people get excited with zero understanding of what it actually means. Most of the stuff being labelled AI shouldn't be called that to start with.

The idea that its some shortcut to an economic boom doesn't work for me.

It should be similar to the 90s boom from what I can tell. But we have no one capable of training a frontier model, outside of China only about four American companies can.

We produce talent, Hinton, Hassabis, and others show we punch well above our weight in computing. But they go to work for Google because that’s where the tech and the money is.

Right now you can’t even launch a frontier LLM in this country thanks to Sunaks ridiculous legislation. Let alone scale a business based around one.
