People slate Simms yet what we've paid for him as a bargain compared with Cannon

He's a decent Championship striker, but that's it. He won't be any good in the PL. Leicester must be laughing all the way to the bank getting a club to fork out that much for him.

Al Hamadi gone to Stoke for the season - good signing for Robins.
Hull winning tonight has put them (Stoke) right in it!!!

Sheff Utd have made good signings and just been pumped at home to Hull

I've seen him play a fair few times tbh , younger than Simms, better goal per minute at championship level , full Irish international (England wanted him to stay eligible for us )

What am I missing that's funny ?

Do I have to believe simms is better because he plays for us ?
If you take off pens which Simms doesn't take their ratios are pretty much the same.

He's also 22, not a teenager.

His career thus far is actually pretty similar to Simms at the same age stats wise, a few decent but not outstanding loans. Yet we paid £3.5m for Simms but apparently Cannon is worth £10m.

I've never said Simms was better, just that Cannon isn't worth that.

That's fair , but you also have to consider the quality of teams in for cannon and it's for his finishing ability isn't it ?
Sheffield united and Sunderland were both prepared to spend 10 mill plus on cannon (one being paid upon promotion ) because they clearly see that he's a goalscorer

He's 2 years younger than Simms and has played less than 70 games as a pro scoring almost 30 goals .

It's not hard to see why teams are prepared to pay for him.

I think it is.

His stats this season vs other championship forwards are actually very very average, especially looking at open play.

That's assuming simms is still worth 3.5
If Cannon is worth £10 million I think it's set the precedent that we could quite easily recoup the initial £3.5 million outlay on Simms.

Cannon is doing ok but hasn't really done enough to justify £10 million fee imo

Sure , but as we all know stats don't really tell it all , he has 9 goals to Simms 3

Cannon has 22 professional goals doesn't he? Other goals were for Everton u21 team so not yet close to 30.

Simms scored 19 last season alone which pretty much matches Cannons whole career and also scored big goals against Wolves and Man Utd

Not even arguing Simms is better here but it's a lot, lot closer than you think.

27 pro goals

He is on 11 this season at a shit stoke team in all comps

I didn't realise me saying I think cannon was a better striker would upset so many 🤔

5 of them for the Everton u21 team probably recorded as 'pro' goals as they were likely in the JPT. So 22 goals in proper football

Please go check and correct me if I'm wrong

Cracking finish to put Hull 1 up at Sheff Utd early on
Interestingly, it was a counter-attack with everyone back defending a corner and then all breaking at once.

I know folk want us to leave players up when defending corners, but that's a great example of what can happen you have 3/4 players all charging forward (we may have done that with our goal at QPR but CBA to check now!).

You don't count 5 goals against league 1 and 2 sides in the JPT no ?

Fair enough 22

Rattling our fanbase because he doesn’t run around like a headless chicken.

I'm sure that's what all teams look for in a striker , one that rattles the fans rather than the net

I joke 😃

My argument for leaving players up is for defensive reasons as much as it is options on the counter.

The question with Cannon is do you think you can carry his lack of contribution in general play and does his finishing make up for it.
