Should Grimes arrive would that spell the end of the more direct style of play that has always brought us results?

Can’t imagine Grimes will have joined without a return to the slow patient build up.

I think 5th and 6th are up for grabs.
Any team from a group of 10 that can put a run together can get one of them
I agree, It looks doable but what's putting me off from really believing is not the amount of points we are away but the amount of teams between us and the play offs. a couple of defeats and suddenly at least a couple of teams would look pretty far ahead again.

Take Norwich for example. We have been with 1-2 points behind them for ages and they always seem to win when we do

He's not a lefty FFS. One of many centrist dickhead journalists to throw their toys out of the pram at the prospect of a mildly left wing government 😂

James O'Brien whenever I've listened to him, not anymore, never attacks those on the left just those on the right.

He is a cock womble, a cock womble sums him up perfectly.

usually any team getting more than 70 points gets in to the play offs
so we need 33 points from 16 games
10 wins 3 draws 3 defeats. Edited. Actually 17 games so 9 wins 6 draws 2 defeats

You’d need 75 to be certain, which means doubling our current points tally in 17 games. Got a lot of games at home still to come against the top half as well so those games will be extra important.

We're not going to get play offs but hats off to Lampard and the team for giving us some positivity, that we're even discussing it. We need 2 points a game, which is not impossible but very unlikely.

Looking at the teams above us though. It's not going to be Blackburn or Watford as they on the down turn and will finish mid table. It won't be Bristol City, for no other reason than it's Bristol City. They are destined to be a Championship club til the end of time. Finally it's not going to be Sheffield Wednesday.

West Brom, Boro & Norwich for the last 2 spots.

We way teams are taking points of each other, I think it will be lower than 'normal'. 70-71 I think would do it.

71 is usually sufficient. 2019 was the last time a team with more than 70 didn’t get to the playoffs

Just seen West Ham post of 1996 game when Frank Lampard made his debut against Coventry City. A great goal by Noel Whelan to equalise late on but sadly poorish defending let West Ham score a third to win 3-2.

Not a great game for Oggy that day, but I will let him off!!

It looks to me like Frank is turning things around in a positive way. He's given everyone a chance and made decisions about Collins, Dovin, Tavares, Kitching plus bringing in the correct type of players we need in Matt Grimes (if true) and shipping out the make weights. It's also positive that he has supposedly been linked with various wingers as RW and LW cover. Long may progress continue

Lampard feel good factor. Open to debate whether Grimes would have come here without the lure of playing under FL but I tend to think it had a big influence on his decision. Hopefully Frank attracts players of similar calibre in the future.
The evolution under Lampard is underway.

So, we have 41 pts. 16 games to go. 2 pts per game? 73pts if we continue current form.

We did so a couple of seasons ago…Have we got the players to take us there?

Sunderland, Sheff U and Burnley fixtures one after the other isn’t nice - at least two are at home.

Anyone outside the top 4 though I’d back us all day long. Poor league this year. 5th and 6th are up for grabs.

Our next 3 games are at Home. Albeit Ipswich is the Cup. I’d like us to focus on the league.

Don’t agree. We’re in form. Keep playing every game and hope to win. Especially if we do lose to Leeds a win against PL side and we’re right back up for it. Fuck the tinkering now. Players keep the shirt until they lose it through form or injury IMO.

Fuck me how has lampard been in job 2 months and still not had a test according to some?

I have a feeling the test will be the next game he loses...

Have noticed it more in the older generation who would’ve rather have appointed someone like Warnock or McCarthy.

They’re just not satisfied at all. They’re clearly not watching games as the difference between now and before you know who was sacked is crystal clear.

Well he wanted a unknown Scandinavian manager 🤔

It's just a way to kick the can down the road and not admit they got it wrong. Few posters doing it

He's had an easy fixture list!!! January will tell us more

Bristol r shit. Next week tell us more

Yes we were robbed of 2 nil win Vs sheff wed but but they were on top for a 20 mins spell. Lampard tactically inept. Next league fixtures will tell us more

It's a shit league. All these teams fighting for playoffs are shit. Leeds will tell us more...

Fucking hell it's like tantric sex.

Dodgy league though. Except for a select very few, everyone can have stormers or howlers. Not sure it’s possible to gauge proper argument through sets of fixtures before played.

It will be 2 years down the line when those that are defending Lampard will be the same people that were defending Robins.

The next test will be Leeds on Wednesday.

We've had a great run against teams with issues and poor form, I don't want to take anything away from the run of results, but on wednesday we are up against the best team in the Championship.

Leeds played us off the park at their place, and now we can see how far we've progressed since then when we face them at home.
I wouldn't be surprised if it's a test too far, but I'm expecting us to be more competitive than we were at their place.

If by chance we can get a win, then we are set up nicely for an amazing run in.

It's a tough test. Of course it is. But that doesn't mean previous games should be disregarded as irrelevant.

Fatso the same people that said recruitment is shit r now saying lampard shud win all these games and he doesn't deserve any praise for doing it

That is crazy!

Lampard has been excellent imo.
I didn't want MR to go, but I can't really fault what FL has done with the "deck" he inherited.

He's had to change the formation due to injuries to some of our best players, and he's changed the defence that was concerning 2 goals every game.

So far he's been a big plus, hopefully that will continue because to be honest he's kept our season alive.
