One of the posters on the forum reckons they played like title contenders today
I thought they were good in large spells , but mostly because I felt we just weren't good at all and we stayed in a 5 which meant they could keep 4 forwards on our back line all game ..

But it's always sweet to win games where you deserved nowt

Take the 3 points but how can we look so un defensive with such a defensive set up, don’t know if it’s the wing backs getting caught too far forward or the 3 centre halves not covering but it was so easy down both sides, might as well go to a back four, and give us an extra body in the middle, it couldn’t be any worse than our back 5 ?

TBF with Sheaf in midfield (I don't care Earlsdon) we'd have probably gone a bit more aggressive in that part of the pitch to stomp Bannan out.

Don't you just love this forum. 🤣

Also lowest pass accuracy of the three was those two. That defence conceded 22 shots on goal and 53(!!) touches inside out box. Kitching won 2 duels all game Thomas 3. For comparison Dasilva won 6 and Latubeaudiere 4.

How you can come out of that praising the defence I’ve no idea.

Massive 3 points. Can’t play like that again this season though, horrendous performance apart from Thomas and Simms. Lati horrendous first 30 mins then we sort of sorted out that right hand side to an extent. Biggest worry for me was Eccles and I’ve been a big defender of his previously. Just seemed to stroll through the game and let Wednesday go past him with ease. Not quite sure what’s happened to him but that was a disgrace today

Good result for you lot today against Swansea.

Who were Swansea playing, because I couldn't be bothered to look. But you obviously did?

We were not good today in midfield, up front (except Simms) or down the wings. However, as a unit our defence blocked and cleared virtually everything. Even the defenders who were below par did some good things, as well as some things that were not catastrophically bad. I am unsure if that was good luck or good play. Dovin was solid and their goal had an element of luck to it. Dovin had saves to make but most were routine or were good stops. Perhaps Wednesday's final balls were poor or our positioning was good.
We scored three good goals (I believe) and apparently there was a handball in their area by one of their players. Their goalie made one brilliant save from Tatsu.
Don't think we will get away with that type of defensive performance for the rest of the season, but the only stats that matter are in the two areas.

All things considered, this is our hardest away day until Sheff U. A draw would’ve been a good result so to nick 3 points was massive.

I didn’t rate Lati, felt he was particularly exposed to their pacy players. Bidwell being back was a boost because he will be even more important when we inevitably switch to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3.

Oxford are 8th in the home league. Sheff Wed are 19th.

Hopefully Bidwell can start every game from now on.
Eccles blew his chance so it's now Allen or Torp.
MVE needs to hold back and defend properly.
BTA needs replacing by I guess EMC, Rudoni rejigging.
It's seems to have gone quiet on Wright (and Sheaf). What's the latest??

One more win should see us safe shouldn't it?

Hope we get it soon, so we are not forever looking over our shoulders.🤞

Good old Otis, brings us back down to earth. 😎

Both a couple of weeks away I think. Wright back on the grass but Lampard said a couple of weeks before he’s able to consider him. I think Sheaf was targeting Oxford but could be wrong there.

that wasn't lucky today.
luck didn't get mve to keep that ball in, and luck didn't get simmo to pressure the keeper.

should have been a simmo hat trick. he was robbed.

All that matters in a football match is who scores the most goals. 🤔
