Have always thought the same about Simms. He’ll always be good for a goal or two at this level but needs to work on his all round game including some of the basics.
Argue with Opta![]()
You can quote Opta all you like, the only thing that matters is the score.![]()
Yes he was a crap manager. Only two promotions, four Wembley appearances an FA Cup semi final, a play off final and a cup win. Absolutely clueless.
boo hoo - what an unintelligent lazy response
putting aside the arguments as to who was responsible and how much of a part he played, I didn’t actually say he was a crap manager, but in terms of the 2nd half of last season and the first half of this season he had no clue how to win, how to stop goals going in at one end, how to get the strikers firing at the other… and also it seems how to build a coaching team capable of competing at this level
that can’t be denied
so yeah, he was absolutely clueless - no debate about it
Robins had some tactical limitations but it seems your trying to join dots without consideration of the wider circumstances that were going on within the club at the end of last season..boo hoo - what an unintelligent lazy response

Don't get dragged in Evo !In the 17 games leading upto the last 6 games from the halfway stage we took 33 points .. which is 1.94 ppg
We lost 5 of the last 6 sure , but it was still our 2nd best championship points tally in 23 years and our 3rd highest finish since premiership relegation
Some of what you are saying can be denied a little bit , because most of the 2nd half of last season was good
The 2nd half of last season we took 37 points
1.6 PPG , not horrendous , so some of what you've said can be denied a bit
Don't get dragged in Evo !
he wasn’t getting something right though for the best part of a season,
Of course but these discussions frequently don't end wellSorry I actually won't i just thought he was a little off with his post , hes ofcourse entitled to his opinion , he is a fan like us all
Rubbish. The cup-run kiboshed our league form, but we were still right in the hunt up until the last month or so.he wasn’t getting something right though for the best part of a season
Of course but these discussions frequently don't end well
No but we should be past that point
Look Robins gave this club its greatest years for decades , his legacy is there forever.
It's time for Frank to try and give us some more great years

The view that the second half of last season was poor is nonsense. It wasn't, it just fizzled out for reasons that are understandable.
Agree completely. The majority fully appreciate what a huge contribution MR made along with to whatever extent Adi & Lawrence. The sticking point frequently is the timing and method of his departure. Nobody is right or wrong but King decided time was up . It happened and the beginning of the Lampard reign has been very encouraging .No but we should be past that point

Unintelligent response, but your opening line is boo hoo?boo hoo - what an unintelligent lazy response

He is absolutely clueless and there is no debate about it?
Why is there no debate? Because what you say is absolute and must not be challenged? No point in having a forum then is there?
We should just read your proclamations and accept them obviously.
On the off chance that some discussion with points of view that vary from yours might be allowed, let’s have a look at the proclamation above. You didn’t say he was a crap manager but he is absolutely clueless. Perhaps you could explain what the difference is between a crap and a clueless manager?
Looking at your other words of wisdom, you say that he had no clue how to win in the second half of last season. That is the half of the season where we beat Leicester and Leeds at home, Wolves away and took Man Utd all the way in an FA Cup semi Final. By my calculation we won ten league games in the second half of the season. We also won 4 FACup ties. Tellingly, after the Wolves game, we won only 2 out of 9 league games. Just to say, that’s 9 games, not half a season. Before the Wolves game we had won 8 in 14 matches. In those 14 matches we picked up 27 points. That’s automatic promotion form.
Now, someone of your superior intellect will probably be able to explain that our FA Cup run had no effect on our league form. Myself and many other simple people would think that it did. This was particularly true in the four games after the semi-final when the players were simply dead on their feet. We lost three of those games, all of them by single goal, something that demonstrates that despite the obvious fatigue we were still competitive.
The start to this season was disappointing, partly because the expectations that followed on from last season. However the only game that I felt we were abject in was the Leeds defeat. In every other game we were competitive. There were also several games that were memorable and that showed the potential of this squad. The games against Oxford, Watford, Tottenham, Blackburn, Luton and Middlesborough showed what the team and Robins could do. We also scored 18 goals in Robins 13 league matches this season. Not really the stats to prove that he couldn’t get his team to score.
Robins record will more than stand the test of time and doesn’t really need someone like me to defend it. However, what really gets my goat is the attempt by people like yourself to re-write history and for some reason underplay how good he has been for us. Take your comment above for example, that Robins was incapable of building a coaching team able to compete at this level. I just wonder who it was who assembled the coaching team that saw our previous four very successful and memorable seasons in this division? Did Viveash and Lawrence et al just appear by magic?
I thought sacking Robins was premature and unnecessary. I thought he had enough credit in the bank to give him more time. Obviously not.
I also think that given the chance Robins would have turned things around as he has done twice in the past although there is no way to prove or disprove this point of view
Having said all of that I accept he has gone and we need to move on. I hope that Lampard can go on and finish the job that Robins so nearly achieved two seasons ago.
What I don’t understand or accept is the need to belittle him and his achievements by rewriting and distorting history.
wow, way TLDR….
But what I will say is you’re entitled to your opinion my friend, as we all are, Robins tinted specs or otherwise!
he was a great manager, but took a chance, messed up and paid the price
no belittling him or his achievements, just fact
this has been done to death now, he’s gone mate, so let’s perhaps look forwards eh?![]()
We were in a 'mess' when he left lets be honestSaying he “messed up” is in fact not a fact but your opinion.
We were in a 'mess' when he left lets be honest
The matter of opinion is whether he would have turned it round or whether it was time to say goodbye - We will obviously never know the answer to that
No saying we are in a mess is an opinion. It may be an opinion you agree with but it’s still an opinion. There’s no agreed factual definition of “in a mess”
TLDR? It took me a couple of minutes to read what is a very good post.wow, way TLDR….

Travesty!Robin's record
Robins' record does need someone like you to defend it, otherwise it gets
tarnished which would be a traversty. Keep up the good work.
Or more honestly: 'this post eloquently addresses everything I've said, I have no real answer to it, so I'm going to claim I'm too lazy to have read it'.wow, way TLDR….
Robin’s record with us is probably the best of any manager bar Hill’s.
I was one who thought he sadly had run out of road with us and needed to go however none of that impacts the ridiculous years he gave the club. I had never been to Wembley before and in the last seven years I’ve been able to go twice.
He’s gone now and while there are questions about this year, a third of a year shouldn’t impact his legacy for us.
