I think we've probably had a Coventry born player in the first team squad for about 30 consecutive years.

Batch is the right word.
If you ask for a sausage roll you get a sausage roll
if you ask for a corn cob you get corn on the cob
There is no confusion with asking for a batch.
At the same time if you asked for a sausage batch they might just think you want a lot of sausages.

That's a good watch, thanks for posting.
Great watch. Being the same age as Paterson, it reminds me how that growing up with the mass exposure from Sky/ITV of Premier League/Champions League football every week, even as die hard Cov fans, there was players such as Gerrard, Henry, Lampard, Owen, Fowler that you’d adore and thus build attraction to their club. I played football from 7-17 years old with 90% Cov fans that had season tickets and still have them 20 years later and a number of them, as children, wore Arsenal or Liverpool tops.

Thankfully for me, I was besotted by Robbie Keane and then Gary McSheffrey and my dad would never let me have a ‘foreign rubbish’ shirt anyway (Liverpool or Man Utd!).

Some of the negative comments on here saying he’s not a Cov fan and he’s a Liverpool or Man Utd fan and fake are a bit crappy. Especially when you’re a player that has played around the country, you will have affection for other clubs.

Then again, there’s plenty on here that can’t get their head around that many lads under 35 refer to us as Cov, Cov City, and bang on about silly egg chasing!

Yeah, it's getting a bit tiresome now. Saying that, I do hope the 'He calls it a batch' chant mentioned in this thread becomes reality
I’m getting really sick of all the hype about how much he is looking forward to playing for CCFC in front of the home fans.

If it was genuinely an ambition, he could have achieved it several times over the past few years, rather than goung to other clubs. We are just his last pay day. Epitome of a mercenary - as are all players I suppose.

Don’t know where that hype has come from, he’s played in front of the home fans at the CBS many times!

Whether he’s from Cov or not, adding some experience down the middle of the pitch at little risk and low wages, is a good addition. He’s always played well against us, let’s see if that added energy continues when he gets some minutes.

Did we ever put any bids/offers for him?

For most of his playing career we were below his level and didn't have a pot to piss in. We didn't even have our own ground for some of it.

Why not call it a roll? What would you serve me if I asked for a sausage roll?

I love baps, but it isn't appreciated if you bite them too hard.

COB? Close of business. That can cause people to have a cob on.

Batch for me. A collection of items put together.
I've only ever lived in Coventry and Northampton, and the first time in Northampton I was looking at a chippy and saw they sold a "sausage roll".

I thought it was a weird item for a chippy to sell, completely oblivious that it was a sausage batch...

(What's the point of this story? I like stories)

Precisely.

All this is pure speculation based on what?

The only people that REALLY know are Paterson and the club.

Not as a CCFC player though, has he?

Whilst he may prove to have been a value for money signing, he should keep his trap shut about how wonderful it is to be here and to plays as a Coventry City player in front of Singer Corner until he has made a significant contribution to a win against a top 4 championship team or a PL side.

Do you not think he is being a bit two faced? He could have showed us what he could do in a Sky Blue Shirt years ago.

A few decent bits in attack but he did lose it in our half once trying to bring it infield. Anyway, no great harm was done.
