SISU's new problem (13 Viewers)

The dream scenario for me would be ACL take over the club, if only temporarily, then put Coleman back in charge. The club has been in a nosedive since his disastrous sacking.

Bloody hell!

Will you be happy when we are paying 1.2M a year in rent when we are relegated to League 1 as a lot of our turnover will be going on the rent of the stadium?

Believing that £1.2M a year in rent is ludicrous, it will slowly kill the club off, and you can forget about anyone ever taking over the club with the rent being so high, no-one else would want to pay through the nose for it.
Are we not already in league 1 or is it me that has consumed too alcohol this evening?

That weren't implying you don't go, I was just saying I go to games.

Was that the whetherspoons in Bury, which looked like an old theatre inside? If so, I was there.

No, was in the Staff of Life on Gigg Lane itself - should be renamed "The Staff of Death" given the non-existent atmos

The club was on a nosedive long before that

Please do not tell me this is serious!? I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

Coleman underachieved with probably the best squad we've had in ages, he also got good backing from the board!

Right, not like I expect a free gift of millions of pounds from a hard-pushed council is it.

Let me guess, you thought Coleman was a bad manager as well? Is there no end to your contrary opinions?

Why don;t you do us all a favour and just fuck off WUM

We were making steady and unspectacular progress - just what we needed. Of course, that wasn't good enough for some and CHOP, he was gone. Looks like a great decision now, doesn't it?

He had some backng ut nowhere near as much as some suggest.

Yeah right - I live in a fantasy world where people pay their way and achievement and hard work is respected.

Some of you live in the real world where everything is free and success can be achieved overnight, funny how rarely it happens though

We were 8th under Adams by the time Coleman finished his dizzy heights were 17th. I see you are deeply analytical - I can see now why £1.2 million is a fair rent to you.

Odd though given Thorn was the best since Jimmy Hill. Coleman must in your eyes be the equivelent of Sir Alex himself.

Please stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

I'm glad Coleman got sacked, inept in the market, Eastwood 1.25m, McIndoe 300k, Wood 500k, as well as the others and the expensive freebies, poor tactics, reactionary, made Wright skipper. Merely a rich mans Andy Thorn.

Threw away money and a grand catalyst for this predicament.

Coleman's brief in his first (half) season was to avoid relegation - achieved (desptie that horrid day at the Valley that I will never forget)

In season 2 it was simply stay clear of a relegation battle - achieved

In season 3 it was to get to mid table - achieved, and by March we were on the cust of the play-offs.

Good steady progress - only the dreadful last 10 games in 2011 cost him his job. With that, SISU hit the panic button and an austerity drive that no manager could have survived. I knew before Boothroyd was sacked that we were going down without big changes the next season - most Cov fans I knew thought the same.

You will just have to accept that SISU bears the exclusive blame for the pathetic mess that our club is in.

i have rarely seen anyone wish for CCFC to go out of business due to the sisu /ACl debate other than PGSM1

So those claims are untrue unless, someone can show me different, then I'll apologise

How about:

Taxpayers must not line SISU's pockets. I'd rather see the club go bust.

I'm not embarrassed, I'm ashamed of CCFC's knee jerk response in sacking him and every other manager from Adams to Thorn. Sacking managers never works. We were clearly gradually improving under Coleman.

Which part do you find odd? The idea that progress has to be gradual? The idea that people need to pay for what they take?

Seriously kid, try your attitude in the real world and you won't get anywhere.

As sbove, those responsible are SISU and no-one else.
No Ranson
Not ACL
Not the players, shit as they were
Not the various managers
Not Gary Hoffman
Not Oscar Pistorious
SISU.

ACL to take over the club and bring coleman back you certainly live in a fantasy world

As much of a fantasy as have someone build a ground for you for £30m, then expect to pay £100k a year paying them back?

That's fantasy, chum.

Pretty sure sacking Thorn worked out, Norwich sacking Gunn worked out, look at them, Pardew getting sacked from S'hampton worked for them...

BTW, in this 'real world' of yours, a manager's average lifespan is 11 months, Coleman and Thorn were well over that.

Sorry, you're obviously getting mixed up. I said please copy and paste my statement where I said that the rent should be free.

£400K a year - over twice what anyone else pays - is certainly not derisory and does not "equate to free". I tell you what then. Give me £400K, it's more or less no money at all so I'm sure you won't miss it.

A derisory rent like that equates to a free gift when you think that it was the council who paid for the ground to be built.

Anyone reading these posts would think that we'd paid for the ground ourselves adn were being cheated somehow. Reality check, it is not our ground, we didn't pay for it to be built and ACL has to recoup its investment somehow!

Can you tell me of any organisation that would build a £30m facility specifically for its major tenant, and then expect a pathetic rent like that (or the £100k SISU wants)??
In this context, £1.2m is perfectly fair. I'd be happy to pay less, but I don't go along with the "ACL scum are screwing us" entitlement argument. We have no divine right to get massive taxpayer funded-subsdidy. And no other club in our league had a £30m ground build specifically for them.

I checked back and, unlike Grendel, you didn't say that we should be playing at the Ricoh for free or that we should have it sold to us at a huge cost-minus discount. But your argument goes in much the same direction.

Yes, and that 11 months is a disaster for football as a sport/industry. It should be 3 years minimum, 5 years if you are serious about real change. For every Lambert and Norwich there are dozens of clubs who switch every year to no beneficial effect. Until we get rid of the "now now now" and "winning now is everything" attutide, and have some patience, football will still be a managerial and financial disaster zone.

I said they should give a rent free period in acknowledgement they have been fleecing the club for the last 8 years. I said it would be a decent gesture and would be a way of saying sorry for the way they have treated the club and the supporters it pretends to represent.

Except that's not true...£30m build cost for the Ricoh, and you think £1.2m p/a rent is unreasonable? You really live in a strange world of delusion

Clearly gradually improving under Coleman? You're fucking mental.

Would rather have Thorn than that useless showpony.

Dreadful manager and play under him, given more investment and backing in the transfer market than any manager since we've been relegated.

CJparker

New Member
No, I didn't say it, did I? Apology accepted.

Did you want to respond to the question that I posed??

Or do you indeed think it commercially reasonable that a council, a council, should fork out emergency funding of £30m to build a ground on behalf of a football club that had created its own problems for itself....and then the club shouldn't pay more than £500k per year in rent? That would just not happen in any commercial environment, you'd get laughed out of the door.

Some of our fans need to get real. SISU are having a laugh and you're going along with it because you don't know any better

Well we are gradually improving under him, and the results show that.

*You're* fucking deranged if you think the modest funding Coleman received would be anything like enough to get us promoted.

But it isn't, so get back to the 'real world', football is performance based occupation, whether you're a player or manager, you don't get results, you get sacked and Coleman, Thorn definitely deserved the sack, in fact, the MR revival is a vindication of this decision, yet you still, genuinely think we should not have sacked Thorn, and you're telling me to get back to 'real world'?
