I hope that when charging £24.50 + booking fee, Psychic Sally can see a lot of empty seats in her future.

If football isn't played at the Ricoh Rugby Union will be, already been discussed, in fact don't be surprised if football and rugger are both played at the Ricoh

You couldn't give a fuck about Coventry city could you.

We must be the only club who have "fans" who side with a management company of the stadium we are in. ACL would never have existed without the club.

Your comments tonight expose you for what you really are.

Yep its already been discussed and the vast majority bar yourself concluded that no rugby team would be playing at the Ricoh, well unless you count about two matches in four years as regular

It wouldn't be as easy as that and would cost a lot.

- new roof
- new lighting system
- new heating/ventillation system
- re-wiring to allow multi functional
- new floor to replace the pitch
- the big door bit reconfigured

The 360 degree seating would be more of a hindrance and not needed for a lot of events - Nia and nec work because its removable.

The concourse isn't particularly nice, and only suitable for sports and music events.

Then there's the impact on the hotel....the rooms would no longer look out on the pitch, but some dark dingy space when their no event on or if there is the event organisersml might want to block the window so not to be spied on. ....and actually not having a door or window opening into fresh air, might have implications for installing ventillation / air con (it might already be installed).

Yes because the hotel is packed every day for the view isn't it!

Few lights - pittance

Heating system relatively little cost

New roof - not too expensive except if it needs to move - which it WOULDN'T if made a 365 day event venue!

Are you seriously trying to say the ricoh couldn't make more than £170k/yr sisu expect to pay?

The O2 is making an absolute mint. The waste ground could have a hotel complex which would put the few bedrooms it currently has!

Clearly you haven't thought your arguments through have you! Have you been to the NIA? Its hardly scenic building - Function is the key thing.

Don't forget just think of the corporate sponsorship the stadium could attract. I suspect BIG companies like Microsoft etc are more likely to sponsor a business & concert venue than a league 1 football team stadium, and they will undoubtedly pay more than a local fish & chip shop!

Sure it would need a few things moving, but it would recoup this with ease! No doubt it could also gain redevelopment grants!

It is a NO BRAINER

I love the way everybody on here is saying that the Ricoh Arena doesn't need the football club to survive, in fact would be better off without them.

Hope that any prospective new owners who may be property speculators don't read this site, might decide it's really not worth bothering with the club and just go for the Arena.

How does P4 make his money????

It ain't being a playboy cocker!

Not taking sides on this one but from what I have been told the Ricoh is now the 7th best venue in the England for exhibitions and conferences, if you ever go near the place through the week you will see all sorts going on in the Jaguar Halls, in my industry they tried to book a show there for 2014 ad told its was booked for whole of June.
They have a Hotel and a Casino (who probably both pay there rent), They have World Cup Rugby, Heineken cup Rugby, more tennis, the World Jehovah witness convection, if they did not have football I am sure they would have many more concerts and events.
My view is that the Ricoh/ACL would survive very well without CCFC.

I agree. Think of all of the additional weekend concert/event dates they could offer of the club wasnt playing there. I'm sure just a handful would generate more income than a ccfc season....even if we were paying rent !

On the contrary Grendel my dear i care for Cov City FC far more than you or your cohorts on here seem to, it's very future is in doubt because of the actions of it's owners nobody else, if ACL offered a no rent deal and the f&b take it would still make no difference as imo our owners don't share our passion for success, cetainly not on the football pitch. You refuse to see it and your entitled to your opinion, mis-guided i believe. Just show me an example of their commitment to our club on the pitch.

It might well survive short term but guarantee that the NEC will not look on this lightly. They will be loosing trade here and i will bet they are already planning changing this.

All parties involved are trying to survive ACL looking for alternatives is no different to SISU trying to find a new home.. In this someone will win and a loser will have to walk away with a blooded nose to fight another day.. At the minute we are stuck in the middle no matter what side you stand on, i dont blame ACL for trying to survive or SISU in that fact, i just dont like the way SISU have gone about the running of the club, or the fact no moral obligation to the city lies with them...

So if the above makes me anti CCFC that is for all to have an opinion on, but i know what i am and what i always will be a Coventrian and very proud of it.

Brilliant! People will certainly pay Top Dollar to see a concert enhanced by a "few lights". And a relatively little cost for a heating system. A system to heat that vast area?

You're really scraping the barrel.

Good so if a new owner says that they want to own the management company and want it and the Higgs share at a knockdown price you will be with them all the way will you?

A retractable roof will cost in excess of £30 million alone.

Did'nt the Cassidy brothers and fletcher set up Stadi Arena in that industry ,should'nt be hard to get a quote ,might eeven be some case studies on their website.:thinking about:

Ah yes, most amusing.

Do yourself a favour. Take a look at many posts by R_B, Cloughie, CJ, Valiant, SBK and a fair few others, then tell me what they resort to when posters don't share their opinion.

That may be an option if SISU go through with their bluff and move to Northampton.

At the moment it is only because Higgs and the council say you can't buy one without the other.

If both are forced to accept that is no longer the case then yes I think it would be a good investment for someone without the hassle of the football.

Now that the season is over......

The real behind the scenes will no doubt play out. No doubt we as we have seen some hysteria on this forum by ' the people ' who seem to be ' in the know'

It is obvious that the real stakes now are all on ACL, who may have cut their own throat.

They will be without any real income stream without CCFC ( even without the rent they made a shit load on the rest) and will have a great white elephant paid for by Coventry catchment area Tax payers. Lets make sure they get lots of spray weed killer !

( hang on lets not forget all them concerts and car boot sales)

http://www.ricoharena.com/entertainment/entertainment-events/ this the current line up so far for 2013 ( i hear mystic sally a good un) a really full venue book not !

The courts cannot force CCFC to play at the RICOH so they may play elsewhere leaving ACL and all ' the people in the know ' a little dumbfounded

Well done ACL , you had no choice of course. Well Done !

ACL made a million profit last year without rent from CCFC whats going to stop them doing the same again its probably only two more concerts

Ccfc stopped paying the rent April 2012 but acl still took £568,000 from the escrow account after this date, so it was September 2012 before the money stopped completely, but then there is also the Olympic football to take into account

The vast majority of Cov fans have made it crystal clear they dont want 'home' games out of Coventry. If Sisu do that they will be giving 2 fingers to supporters.
But no doubt they Sisu will have the full support of Grendel, Torch, Summerisle and Stupot.

The full support of everybody else including you I'd have thought as ACL go from strength to strength without the club holding them back from the Rolling Stones weekly residency.

I dont know if they still have midland today on tv at tea time but ask mystic sally at the RICOH event if in about 18 months time they do a report on the big white elephant in Coventry being paid for by Council tax payers !

It will make the redundant Athens olympic venue seem a success !

vast majority? No one wants to leave Coventry. My 'crime' is saying I will still support the club.

Yours is the continual support of ACL rather than your team.

You have a complete fetish on ACL-- you do know Sisu are the owners of this club and are responsible for our well being right?, and you do know we are in in the course of a shambolic meltdown as a business operation.... get your head out of your a*** and have a look at the bigger picture.

3 or 4 polls all 75% + against games away from the Ricoh...
I rarely talk about ACL thanks- Sisu are the owners responsible for the stewardship of our club. You should try talking about Sisu's record occasionally....

Bigger picture is what I'm looking at, not through "Sisu tunnel vision" glasses.

Sisu are finished, should never have been here, but the problem of ground ownership/revenues/costs will remain whoever comes in next.

Not much of a chess player are you?

My question was what Have our owners done to make things better ON the pitch, don't duck the question or answer with a question.

Well, I presume then that the new owners will deem the arrangement fair - after all ACL are the innocent party in all this - and will be more than happy to stump up £1.2M a year.

Do you think SISU want to play outside Coventry?
Do you think they dreamed up this plan because our away form is so good?
Do you think PH4 would prefer to carry on paying ACL £1.2m a year rent?

NO!
SISU are being forced to carry this through because the CCC and their created sub-company CCC Holdings (ACL) have got their heads up their A***es!
