Great servant over the years had some brilliant memories including 8 years ago today! But good decision for him to leave if that's what's happening, didn't cut it last season unfortunately

Was great before in went to Blues. But injuries have taken there toll on a class player. Never the same on his return, just lost it. Wish him the best and thanks for the memories.

forget the last couple of seasons.. his prime time, attacking down the wing, and banging them in for fun will live long!

He was overrated and if he wasn't a Cov kid wouldn't be half the wank fest there currently is. He had 2 good seasons wearing a sky blue shirt

Fair play to him. I think he was never the same player on his return but injuries may have played a part...plus the quality around him maybe was the same?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he "leaves" then re-signs for us in a month or two on new terms. He had other offers last season but chose to come back to us instead so obviously wanted to be here and the fact that he didn't exactly cover himself in glory this season means clubs won't be beating a path to his door this summer.

I don't think we have seen the last of Sheffers.

Good luck to him, a Cov lad made good rather than some of the pond life lurking around the estates we all see. Never really recovered from the injuries that slowed him up so much but made a healthy contribution to City's history overall !

See you shef. If your head hadn't been turned from your home club you claim to be proud of then you might have been a sky blue legend. Instead you followed your greed and went to brum. No great loss to us this time around though

Goodbye and good luck to McSheffers, I personally care to remember the good times namely his first stint at the club and the money we pulled in for him from the Blue Noses, less said about his return to the club the better!

I think his next stop will be Northampton personally.

Can't really blame him though can you? I wonder how much his wages went up while he was there.

He can be proud to have played for us without it being rendered hypocritical by leaving, the two aren't mutually exclusive.

Funny how many of our players Aidy is signing considering that he'd "lost the dressing room", innit?

As for Sheff-good luck for the future fella. One bad season in a career full of good ones shouldn't taint the memories of one of the best home-produced players of the past 20 years.

Boothroyd has turned Northampton round, weren't they relegation fodder before he went in? A lot of our ex players seem to like him!

Bye Gary...Thanks.

You were good the first time around, but you were generally shite in your 2nd spell with us & utter utter gash this season.

Hope you don't blow all your cash too quickly.....

Great memories of this fella on and off the pitch. He's done what each and every one of us on this forum can only dream of doing. You know what - I probably would have signed for Blues as well.

This season was a shocker for him, but he always gave as much as he had, no matter what the circumstances were.

Genuinly sad to see him go. The last of my youth as a Sky Blue. The last of The Premiership Years.

That's got to be a Pub Quiz question surely? The only player to have played for Coventry in The Premier League, Championship, League 1, FA Cup, League Cup and JPT. Can anyone say if anyone else has done that? (excluding Div1, Div2, Div3)

the club were literally begging him to go.. 4.5 million in our back pockets!! are you kidding, he did us a favor

his words at the time, to someone i know, were " i didnt really want to go, but the club are getting a hell of a lot of money for me and they have made it pretty clear that they want the deal done " .. he was honest enough to also say that he'd be making more money so it worked both ways.. but anyone that thinks he walked out on us, is very short sighted!

Was good in his first spell with a couple of great seasons but injury and father time have blunted his ability to make an impact and he has been a shadow of his former self since he came back. Sure its been as frustrating for him as to those of us watching but its time to go our separate ways. Best wishes to you Sheff wherever you end up - I'll remember the good times as I am trying to blot out the last couple of seasons from my memory totally - wheres the JD and meths!!!

I still think he was one of our best players in the season previous to this!
