we need a leader (11 Viewers)

As much as I admire what the trust are trying to do I think we need some real leadership in this mess . I've said on another thread that if this was any other club the fans would be united and not divided as we are.I still think the trust can achieve this but things need to drastically change I can see what NOPM is trying to achieve but surely it should be the last resort . There is a chance that both sides could agree to a deal to return to the ricoh it just means the trust or whoever need to help this happen. It may mean an olive branch being offered but if it's in the best interest of the club its worth it.get acl and sisu/otium talking while there's still a chance. At least then we would have tried something instead of just trying to turn everyone against each other.

Yes - I agree. I have made no secret of the fact I think the NOPM campaign is not going to work - the club will not be sold as a result of it, and Sisu have megabucks so we're not going to send them bankrupt. I do understand why people are making a stand though.

I hate Sisu, and I think ACL have got away with murder - but we need to pool what party's have done right in the eyes of fans and find the common ground. This is where we build bridges and discuss a platform for the future. I say it through gritted teeth and know there will be a negative backlash, but on plain paper, Sisu is trying to unite club and stadium, and don't want their intake diminished on hiring a ground. Okay.
They also - eventually - brought in someone who appears to be a decent manager. Okay!
ACL want to protect a good asset to Coventry and use their investment to improve the city. Okay.
They also refuse to be walked over by outsiders. Okay!

There's a start. 2 positives from each party which the trust may be able to build bridges with. What else have they done RIGHT? (trying to avoid this thread turning into yet another rant about everything they've done wrong - that's all been covered)

The problem is trying to talk to SISU, its obvious that TF is just doing a job and not the decision maker but no one can contact JS.
I have asked to meet with JS, via TF but as yet nothing back.
He has now said they will never returns the Ricoh which is more of a reason to bypass him but no one an get to the elusive JS.

Quinn,

You say we are not united?

Our core fan base is 10k.

There is currently only 1k is going to Northampton.

That means 9k not going.

So very simple terms 90% do not support the move.

The only way to unite 100% is to covince the 1k Northampton lot not to go.

Then we have 100% unity. Dont think this will happen. The 1k will go regaredless. Not me i anit going.

That's the whole problem with SISU. They have surrounded themselves with a wall of legal protection. Nobody can get close enough to them to make them feel the pressure, or get them on the defensive.

I will be interested to see what happens with the appeal against the Judicial Review. If it gets dismissed again, it will surely put acquisition of the Ricoh once and for all out of SISU's reach. As there seems to be no definite progress towards the new stadium that TF faithfully promised would be built, where does that leave us ? Permanently in exile ? It appears SISU wll only discuss the Ricoh with CCC/ACL/Higgs if the stadium is being offered to them (for little or nothing no doubt).

Any leader who emerged would be powerless to influence what any of the parties in this nightmare do.

I fear we are either going to have to accept playing at Northampton or wherever, or be forced in the direction of setting up a new club.

Agree but then your dividing the fans again.the ones that will follow a new team and the fans that will stick with the team we have now...I hope it never comes to that.I guess if the 90% are going to stay away and force the nopm than thats the way it goes . There must be a way to get a meeting with seppala it might not make any difference but a least somebody would have tried. Get it in the media that the trust want to meet her.Offer a fresh start forget whats been said before..no matter what fisher says the fans are the club and they need us.

A bitfoff thread but if a new ground was built say just outside coventry then would it be the same stance as sixfields.would seem pointless building a new ground if 90% of your fans wont be going.Fisher seems to think that he'll be the saviour of the club if it happens and we'll all come rushing back.Maybe a statement reminding him that will not be the case might be due.:)

Let's face it, if not one single person went at all we would be back in Coventry in no time.

With 1,000 going Sisu are clinging on to the hope that if the team does well the gates will increase over time.

Very good comment.
Your right the few who do go are giving SISU and Fisher something to cling to.

The way it is at the moment, only a handful are going. It could therefore go one of 3 ways. Stays the same, tails off and even less continue to go, or attendances increase if we start doing well.

Sisu are confronted with these 3 scenarios.

If no-one went at all the scenario would be a lot starker. If no-one went at all it would look like a completely lost cause. While some go there is always the hope that more fans will go in time.

A few more are going due to us playing well, my view is that i can accept some fans saying "I do not agree with this but just have to go" right from the start, those who are just going along today as we are playing well are those I have no respect for.

I do hope that out of the three options I think it will tail off as people start to accept we are not getting a new stadium in Coventry and may never come back.
Hate to say this but I think our only option is to try and put over our point in a numbers way and have a 1000 fans outside sixfields, try and stop a game in a peacful way, we have to make a statement.

I tend to agree -- before I say more let me clear up something Lordsummerisle posted about me making "pro SISU" comments on GMK (whech I had forgotten about and apologized to him). These posts were made some 2/3 years ago when SISU appeared to be behaving themselves, paying rent etc and are not recent as implied. It's a bit like getting married, you might trust your missus to start with and she is loyal to you, but then she starts being unfaithful and your opinion changes.
This is why I have changed my opinion and now detest SISU and want rid of them- divorce !
I agree that SKY BLUES have a fan base of10,000 or more and only 1,000 still following them to Northampton. This is identical to the petitions signed that 90% do not want SKY BLUES to play outside of Coventry- a physical demonstration of just how many support SISU. I am not going to Northampton and support NOPM a KCIC.
If anyone in future wants to quote posts I made years ago as recent fact, that is hardly fair,

The club and the ground will never be united commercially. SISU will own the ground and the club will pay rent. Club will get the pie pennies but little or nothing from other activities in a new stadium. SISU Will meme more money from the ground than from football

I'm with Otis. If nobody went it would be game over in Northampton. Stark as that.
The few fans that go, like Jim Brown, Juggy, Kev Monks et al, are obviously very loyal fans but they are being selfish. In the long term it is causing CCFC mortal damage.
Quinny, admire your constructive helpful approach. But Sepalla doesn't care. She's the one that's taken the club out of Coventry. Gone too far now. They will only respond to losing masses of money.
The City fans who attend today are real big culprits in this. They should really think of the big picture. Imagine the media reports of a City match at Sixfields with a crowd of nil. It would go down in history. I make no apologies for saying it but those fans going are really hurting the club.
Money, money, money, all Sisu care about. Him them in the pocket.
If we don't come back this season I'd imagine a new club in Coventry will form. I will hope it doesn't come to that but if it does....

It unfortunately also conjures up a most uncomfortable paradox.

The best thing for anyone supporting the NOPM campaign is for the team to do badly. Team does badly on the pitch then that equates to less and less people attending and that aides the campaign.

None of us City fans actually wish the team to do badly and lose every week though.

We want the team to do well but for less people to attend. It is like I say, a paradox.

VoR, I don't think you are alone in how you feel now to how you felt 1or 2 or 3 years ago.
When SISU took over, the Trust supported the takeover (rather grudgingly, but supported it all the same) not something I like to admit as I was on the board at the time. We had massive concerns but were given certain reassurances by Ray Ranson at the time and it was either that or admin. Hindsights a wonderful thing...
We know who the posters are who post on here just to have a dig and not bring anything to the party. Any decent thread on here usually ends up in a bitchfest.
It would be great no one turned up at Sixfields, if only to force the waring parties to sit down and thrash it out.
But when you have fans claiming they might go to Sixfields just because they got an e mail it tells you all you need to know.

Anyone supporting NOPM Otis should be able to understand that NOPM should be aimed towards SISU and ACL, a position which the Sky Blue Trust has ignored when they should have remained unbiased they didn't.. They have become an advertising hoarding for ACL IMO.

Think your right...im hoping that there might be away back to the ricoh but both sides seem further apart than ever.i guess if neither side want to speak to each other there's nothing we can do.agree that the nopm is the way to get the message across but we need a big message to the media to let them no we're still here. .it's all gone a bit quiet.apart from the protest march it's been too many small events we need one massive event.90 % of our fans are backing nopm thats 9, 000 fans.Could get a big message across with that many...maybe time to get other clubs on board...another march in coventry would let them know we haven't given up.

Besides NOPM, boycotting Sixfields, just the idea, threat of a new team in Coventry would focus the minds of Sisu pretty quickly. Going into another season at Sixfields is not an option for any self respecting CCFC fan.

Don't quite agree Rob.

Can't see how ACL are making any money of any note at all out of a charity match and a CCFC Ladies game.

Pressure does need to be put on ACL and the council to though.

Quinny, sure yep we all want to get back here. Us fans get emotional about it but we'd have to hope that bare hard cash considerations will get them both around a table. As you say, it looks impossible.
I'd have to say - a massive demonstration, either outside Sixfields, or ON the pitch has got to be a plan. Peaceful. At least 1,000 fans.
Almost past the point of MPs, emails, letters, marches.
Direct, peaceful action. I'm really too old to be thinking of it, but I'd do it.

It's not about making money it's about taking an unbiased view and demonstrating a position where the Trust are able to get SISU and ACL to negotiate for the club to return to the Ricoh..

Currently this isn't happening the Trust are just an advertising hoarding.. I would like the Trust to answer the question, Did they campaign so much against the ladies Club playing in Bedworth? They didn't care but as I showed on Friday with an earlier thread, majority of posters showed that Bedworth isn't suitable for our club so why is it suitable to allow the ladies club to play there? There was never no protest or anything else and although the Trust have done reasonably well with there efforts so far, however they have not been consistent, suggesting fans should now boycott Sixfields for the ladies game is more than about money.. It's about being consistent.. Something the trust has failed.

Agree it's all gone a bit quiet on the protest front but I don't think it will be long before the national press pick up on the attendances . Ccfc under SISU has become a tainted product! Fisher won't get the go ahead with the build for a business idea that is holed below the waterline . If we stay strong we can see them out . Trouble is they can tread water for a season hoping for fantastic results or a cup run ,spending minimal amounts of money . What we need is high profile publicity to let the investors know we're serious .national press articles would be great . Ask yourself , if you had 50 million would you build a stadium "in the Coventry area " hoping the fans would return . I certainly wouldn't go and so goes for many more people. What we need is a credible offer coming to light in the coming months to tease SISU out!

Robo, the trust have consistently attempted to get a meeting with the person from SISU who calls the shots but have not even had a response.
We've done the same with ACL and they have been happy to meet with us on many occasions.
But of course you know all this as we've said it a number of times...

Why should anyone have protested about the ladies playing in Bedworth? I don't get it.

They are a newish club in the scheme of things, have never had a home of their own and have changed grounds on numerous occasions.

They have simply sought any suitable ground where they can play. If they had been kicked out of Coventry it would be different.

Well there Coventry City Ladies Football Club aren't they? It's in the name for the same reasons people are upset about our club being moved to Sixfields..

Doesn't matter if it was a new club or not it bares the name of a City and represents it history and community.
