Fisher: Most will be back by the third home game (11 Viewers)

Fisher was right in a way. Fans have gone from boycotting matches in Northampon (Keep Cov In Cov, etc) to watching the match for free from the hill - as admitted by Michael from the Trust yesterday.

I stand on the hill and dont watch the match some do

For the record im a complete stayaway and will be until we are back in Coventry. My views however are: Do I care about the attendance at Sixfields, absolutely not because for all the arguing, if the ground was packed to capacity each week, it would still be less than the average gates at the Ricoh. Do I care about the results??? I looked at the score for the first time on SPN after about 60 mins on Sunday, sorry but I find it hard to care at the moment, had we been at the Ricoh, I would have been their.

I just think sometimes some people need to step back and see what it actually is they are angry about, I'm not saying they are wrong to be angry.

I doubt there are many in the NOPM camp who are not clear on what they're angry about, Nick.

Why do people keep going on about attendance dropping??

Didnt the figures show the other day that MORE home fans are going each week and its been the away fans that have dropped?? Or did I dream that??

Honestly... its a real question!

I think you're correct on that.

I believe Bristol City brought best part of half the crowd for the opening fixture....

...the next 2 have brought substantially less, so sadly, it looks like the "home fan" attendance has actually grown slightly....

....not a complete surprise I suppose as the entertainment levels etc. are high at present.....

Away fans attending our games at sixfields will also be substantially lower throughout the season too as I doubt most view a day trip to sixfields in the same way as they did a day out at the big shiny ricoh....

I'd prefer the club to play its home games in the city from which it takes it name from. Anywhere else just doesn't seem right.

Results are important. History, sense of belonging and tradition equally so.

For me, results don't seem as important as they used to. The longer this goes on, the less interest I seem to have in football in general. MOTD/FL show seems hollow and pointless this year. I find Im switching off and couldn't care less. Quite depressing really.

99.9% sure your right. Taken on face value it looks like its dropping but people are going to twist facts to suit themselves. How many away fans came for each game?
Didnt Bristol bring 1000/1500?

Just for the record I am convinced the only way to get our message across is to 'starve' SISU out of our club or very least test TF's resolve when he said a while ago at the Ryton forum they would stump up however much its would cost to get this new ground. A few banners and a couple of chants of SISU OUT wont make a bit of difference, this has been done and failed.
ACL have stitched up the club & under that contract the club was dead anyway but SISU have refused to listen to us & shown no respect to the fans.

For the 1st time in 35yrs of watching City, I wont attend a single 'home' match in Northampton

Of course yes, I know our income depends on what we can pay in wages so obviously it would be very nice to have a packed out stadium and win every game I just meant that if I had missed a game or couldn't listen it I'd be asking "What was the score? Who scored? How did we play? Did we hammer them?" rather than "How many were on the hill? How many were there? How many free tickets?"

I just think sometimes some people need to step back and see what it actually is they are angry about, I'm not saying they are wrong to be angry.
But these aren't normal times are they? We are all CCFC fans and in normal times it is taken as a given every fan will want the team to win. However for a lot of fans there number 1 priority is to get the club back to where we all know it belongs, in Coventry. A lot ,probably most fans believe rightly or wrongly that the lower the attendance at Sixfields then the greater the chance of the club returning sooner. No business not just Hedge funds like to lose money, that is why the attendances are important to people. There will be no one monitoring the attendances more than Tim Fisher.
If the attendance on Sunday was 4/5,000 this forum would be full of fans who go to Sixfield gleefully talking of the boycott being over, of that there is no doubt. Both sides in this increasingly bitter dispute are incredibly interested in the on going attendances, and to pretend otherwise is fanciful.

I think the Telegraph claimed that city support had risen by about 400 on the first game. Then i think there was an additional 20 odd for the Colchester.

The police I spoke with outside the ground on Sunday said that actual numbers through the gate was less than the official attendance. Who's figures do you trust?

Twist it how you like, home attendances this season are 82% down on last season's league average.

Fans ARE voting with their feet.

OK.. slight change of direction now with this......

After the last 2/3 years at the Ricoh I don't think its anywhere near as simple as once we get back everyone will be happy because the atmosphere was volatile as fuck some games. So my question is this....

Other than the obvious and moving back to Coventry. What do you all feel SISU would need to do in order for the fans to change their opinions and support them as owners?

Its fans like you that make a mockery of those who claim that they just cant stay away. I see stories of these and think of how sad it is and the resolve it takes not to attend. I could go on but I wont. I hope for your sake we are back soon and for the record as far as I am concerned you still have'nt missed a home game in 35 years because we dont play at home.

I think they have lost it for good, your asking the impossible. If we did ever get this new ground back in Coventry I think there are plenty that wouldn't go still 'blaming i'm not going until SISU leave'.
How many time do you hear fans on the radio moaning the same, i'm not going until Adams is sacked, Dowie is sacked, Coleman is sacked etc & never come back anyway.

What happens if we dont return to cov area and our name is changed but we are still winning ?

Then that would be totally different and I would agree with you but until it is signed and sealed or rock solid proof that we have moved for good then it is a temporary thing.

What if it just carries on and carries on with the promise still there to move back to the Coventry area, what if ten years down the line we are still playing outside of Cov?

If they have said 3-5 years and nothing has changed and 10 years down the line I'd think they were committing even more business suicide than they already are!

Just going through the motions at the moment of away games only, but at some point I will switch off. The deciding factor is once the new stadium 'is' the plan.

Looks better than I thought. Do you have a further breakdown on any free tickets ?
If we keep playing well I could see attendances swelling to around 2500-3000 'home fans' throughout the season as it continues, especially if we get near the play offs

What do to mean free tickets? Are you referring to those on the hill watching the game for free?

Does it matter?? All of these attendances are still less than any acheived at the Ricoh and that includes Burton and Arlesley Town in the cups.

No it doesn't matter and that's the whole point isn't it. Who really gives a fuck. It's a depressing statistic but plenty on here seem to be at the vinegar strokes every time it's brought up.

Did the attendance make you more proud than the actual score though? Some people I have seen just comment on the attendance and not the actual football being played.

Yes i was very happy with the attendance. With the team winning and scoring goals(Fisher comments you will be back after 3 games) and the gates so low, SISU will have to find hard cash to pay the wage bill at the end of the month. That is what will bring them back(no hard cash on gate) they will have to keep finding the cash for wages each month. That is why NOT ONE PENNY MORE is important.

Give or take it was 1,000 home 'fans' for the first game and 1,500 for the next two. At this rate we'll be up to the support of a low-ranking Division 4 team before we know it.
