Should I go or not (12 Viewers)

I totally agree. As I keep saying and saying 9000 do not go at all. Around a thousand or so have decided to, not ideal, but it's up to them. And then there are the hundred or so that are inbetween and who are the worst of the lot in my opinion. It's neither one thing or the other and despite the (and I'll use Nick's word here) preaching from many, including the Trust and NoPM/KCiC or whoever they are, they still turn up and watch the game for free while trying to fool everyone it's a protest. If you want to protest then don't turn up. As you say, it's simple.

As it stands the club is there for three years, probably longer, NoPM isn't and never will work.
An invitation to you come and stand on the hill with me and then come on here and tell everybody how much of the game I watch. If youre not prepared to give two hours of your time .....well :thinking about:

I remember you stating on here that we'd be at the Ricoh this season; and the ground search was a red herring. Well, we're not.

Without a clear, clear message, this disgusting downward spiral will continue. Those who attend with weak excuses or disclaimers are exactly what Fisher wants. Join them if you wish; and feel the weight of Fisher's sanctimonious smile bearing down upon your company

Well said, those people will also abandon Northampton 2nd team when City lose a few games as well.

The individual feeling can be different to the representation.

At the moment it looks like nobody can be bothered.

@ Piglet - everybody.

Nobody turns up for games, nobody turns up for the hill... those that do turn up are mere specks and pinpricks so their being drifts by on the breeze... and people are so busy trying to prove themselves the superior fan in some sickening disgusting hypocritical nonsensical way, that any hope of arranging some kind of positive, proactive, inclusive statement drifts aimlessly by.

So instead of actually having a statement that WE are Coventry... instead we have small numbers of nothing, sending a message to the world that we don't care. And the sad thing is instead of doing something about it, it becomes a dick waving contest on who's suffering most because they went longest, who's the most Hitleresque clone for going to the games, who's the most heroic by standing proud on a hill, who's the tightest fistiest by standing on a hill to watch a game for free.

And what's the result of that? A vision of emptiness, along with a portrayal of ALL banks of Coventry City fans, whatever their choice, showing them in a negative light. And the people showing them in this light are... Coventry City fans!

You couldn't make it up:facepalm:

Nobody turns up at Northampton because they don't want to be there.

So why did people flock to see "Northampton's second team" at Port Vale last week?

Pax-I might share that view had Joy not stated the opposite, along with her inability to work with Coventry City Council... had she not reinforced these points in the interview my glass might have been the optimistic side of half full... but she stated it very very clearly. I fear we are futher away from reconcilliation than ever before.

Like you Pax I also find it absurd that a 32000 seater stadium lies dormant.. its bloody crazy. Unlike you though Pax, whilst ACL do have a case to answer in certain aspects- in my opinion the lions share of the "blame" lies with SISU. For all sorts of reasons stated many many times over and so as much as it pains me given sadly that SISU and CCFC are not mutually exclusive I just cannot go to sixfields, principles are costing me and my son our CCFC addiction and "quality time" together, but to do so would just reinforce the decision that SISU took to take my(our) football team from us. It is wrong and is not justifiable in such circumstances.

Hear, hear. Why would any city fan go to Northampton?

Good point well made. I just want to see city play in city. Another 1600 fans at Port Vale is testimony to the fact that we still have a fan base. I wonder how many for the Sixfields team supporters went to the 'away game'?

It's simple. If zero fans turned up; the farce would have to cease. If 10K go, Fisher will see this as vindication to do exactly as he pleases.

Every person who attends shifts the dynamic from the former to the latter

Agree with your sentiment, but one bit of this jigsaw seems to keep getting forgotten. Let's say all the "10,000" suddenly, or even gradually, decide they do want to now support their club in Northampton. They can't. The ground SISU has taken CCFC to means they would not fit. That alone shows the contempt they have treated the people of Coventry. They have never cared.

Another hill abuse thread.

Surely standing on a hill shows one clear message
'We'll watch our team wherever, but whilst we play in Northampton we shall not give Sisu a penny to do so'.

Of course we wouldn't bloody stand outside the ground if we couldn't see, what would be the point.
Fisher can see us from his stand, so he surely knows the message of 'NOPM'.

If it was decided that we would be back at the Ricoh in two weeks I'd be the first to buy a season ticket.

Me and the 5 that go in our group will not be giving a penny to sisu whilst we play at Northampton.
By standing on the hill I'm displaying that message.

Not many I imagine, they would have to sit next to and, perhaps, talk to another fan and, heavens above, that other fan might be a bit critical. That wouldn't be nice at all, Sixfields is much more refined.

I went to the Vale game. First of the season. Was driven there by a current season ticket holder. He goes with his son. 90mins of debate/argument/shouting each other down etc. on the way. 90mins of good entertainment when there. 90 mins of relative silence on way home due to result. Same as...same as... :-(

We'll reading back over this thread there seems to be a completely split decision all with valid points I may add
I really don't fancy watching the game from the hill.all I wanna see is my team play my team win my team climb the table I want that buzz back of waking up on game day the excitement of walking up to the ground the skyblue song ringing out before kick off,a flat pint at half time and words after the game as to wether it was offside or not.
Yes I do go to a lot of away games I love them but nothing like being at home (where ever that may be)
So I'm afraid to say I just cannot resist any more I feel lost on weekends now

As my mate in the car knows that is the wrong decision IMHO. But if you can live with it......so be it.

Don't let people on here put you off the Hill, closest you'll get to block 15.

Would you have missed going and been 'tempted' if the style of play and results had been shit? I think the long term future of the club comes before the short term support of the team. Stay away, would be my advice. Away games only.

If you go to matches, you kill the club
If you don't, you kill the club?
If The Northampton Sky Blues stay at Sixfields..........
..forget ACL and their role.
Your choice. KCIC

SISU's strategy is ridiculous. They will have lost the local kids, the older Coventry City Sky Blues fans will sit next to the radio. These things were a problem before. But my guess is that 30 % of the fans at the Ricoh were of the Jimmy Hill era. They, like many, will not return easily(the longer it goes on). A walk in the park rather than a walk up to the Ricoh. With Tranny in hand!

I've never been an advocate of NOPM to be honest. My stance has just been that I won't go due to the fact that the team is playing 34 miles from it's home.

Something is working though on that front, because all of a sudden I seem to be getting bombarded by club emails urging me to buy reduced priced tickets and cheap season tickets and 'great deals' on hospitality.

Does come across as a bit desperate from the club I have to say and I can only conclude that despite their saying they will fund the club whatever, the non attendance of the vast majority of fans is pointing to otherwise and it would appear that the club simply cannot continue like this.

Seems to me that they cannot continue to operate on crowds of 2,000.

Everyone is free to go should they wish. My stance however, is based on the fact we are not playing in Coventry and we should be playing in Coventry and that stance dictates that it doesn't matter if we are winning 6-0 every week and playing like Brazil. This is not about winning, it's about the club not playing in Coventry.

Personally, I don't get the I wasn't going to go because they've taken the club away from it's home, but now they're winning perhaps I'll go after all.

If you feel comfortable in your decision, then go. Entirely up to you.

I totally agree those who want to go can go, we live in a democracy.

I respect your own reason for not going and a valid one I think.

My own rational is slightly different. I think everything about SISU is abhorrent. They are the sort of investment that not only threatens our club but threatens football in general unless rules are tightened.

Therefor I do support the NOPM. Does it threaten our club? Yes it does. But no more than SISU do. I believe unless we hit their income they won't listen to us and change their policies or tenure of the club.

The first battle is to get Coventry City back home. Then I'm prepared to review the situation.

The second is to get rid of SISU.

To be honest I'm not bothered which battle is won first.

I agree with Otis, personally I am no longer into the NOPM,or am SISU OUT, but respect everyone's choice. My own view is I think its wrong that we play our games in Northampton. If Coventry do play out of the City for the next few years then I will not watch a game from inside the ground for that time.
The Hill is a good option while the weather is ok, but once than changes I will just listen on the radio or maybe go to another game. Am sure that those who go at present feel they are supporting the team and that's there view but will they continue when the weather changes?

I have said I'll try to get to all home games on the hill, even Orient on a Tuesday night.
Obviously if the weather is stupidly bad, then it will be a challenge to stand there.
