Open Letter Issued
The Preservation Sky Blues Group have issued an open letter to SISU boss Joy Seppala.
The letter reads as follows:
"Dear Mrs Seppala
I write to you as Group Chair of PSB (Preservation Sky Blues). A group of long standing Coventry City supporters who are upset and angry at the decline of our football club. A group with a simple aim of doing all we can to ensure the preservation of Coventry City Football Club. A goal we are all firmly committed to.

In recent weeks we have written to Tim Fisher and also for balance the leader of Coventry City Council Ann Lucas but I think it is fair to say that the massive problems we have at CCFC lie firmly at your doorstep. You are the person with ultimate responsibility. You are the one with the power to do the right thing and give Coventry City FC a chance of recovering from this "god awful " mess that you and your organisation have created.

On Saturday at Sheffield United my group has organised a protest at which we will be highlighting the lack of investment by SISU. We find it abhorrent that you have allowed our club to drift towards the abyss in the way you have. Failing to invest properly in the playing side, the only real purpose of any football club, whilst continuing to throw endless amounts of cash on pointless and ill conceived legal challenges which appear to have no chance of succeeding.

Can you confirm whether there will be any investment for next season which will go anywhere close to matching the ambition of city fans ? The failure to demonstrate any ambition whatsoever this season has been clear for all to see. Should the worst happen and we do get relegated what happens then? Can we then expect another battle to retain our Football League status?

Our message on Saturday will be clear. Our club is in massive crisis and whilst this policy of non investment continues our club gets ever closer to dying. It's time for SISU to do the right thing and put the club up for sale.

If you insist that the club is not up for sale, as Tim Fisher has articulated we would ask just why you are still here and what is your actual game plan ? The Sky Blues are on the verge of League 2 football with crowds dwindling to pathetic levels, not just because the product on the field of play is poor but largely due to a lack of faith in you and your SISU board.

To use footballing terminology that you may or may not be aware of. "You have lost the dressing room " and appear to have no strategy in place to recover that situation.

You have placed great faith in Tim Fisher as chairman to help turn round fan relations but I think most Coventry City fans would agree his has been a disastrous tenure. We cannot understand why he remains at the club if you genuinely have ambitions to turn around our fortunes. Any other business would be quick to dispense with someone so closely connected to such failure. Perhaps Mr Fisher has more of a financial interest in CCFC than we are led to believe.

Maybe you could clarify the position here as my colleagues and I speak to many city fans and many of them are at a loss as to why a change has not yet been made. The image of the football club is incredibly poor right now and Tim Fisher has played a big part in that being the case.

You as owner and figurehead also now need to come clean about your real intentions with regard to a new stadium. We see no sense at all in pursuing this option at what will be massive expense for a club that you have driven into the ground. We would also point to your failed tactics in trying to gain control of the Ricoh and the disastrous move to Sixfields as prime examples of why you will find it so hard to convince Coventry City fans to have any faith in you or your current board in being able to successfully build such a stadium.

Not withstanding that we need to know the truth. Tim Fisher has said a lot of things, promised information that has never come to fruition and referred to deadlines that have just drifted. Few people believe that a new stadium will be built.
It's time for YOU to tell us clearly and unambiguously what your precise plans are and quickly. Fans will simply no longer tolerate the promise of "jam tomorrow".

The level of dismay at our clubs current plight is frightening. If you were to spend some time in Coventry and actually listen to fans who care passionately about whats happening then you would realise that the levels of anger have now risen to a worrying and unhealthy level. We are a group of professional people and everything we have done so far and will continue to do will be measured, peaceful and respectful.
Unfortunately we are witnessing now is a new wave of groups forming and ideas being suggested that go beyond anything that we would want to be involved with. Unfortunately however we can only legislate for our own groups actions.

Simply put you're running out of time. Virtually everybody we have spoken to has said they will not be purchasing season tickets for next season at the Ricoh. . Lifelong fans have now turned their backs on the club and more will follow them in the summer.

It is our opinion that Coventry City Football Club cannot recover with SISU at the helm. You have entered the "unique" world of Football and it has proved a monumental mistake. In business you need to know when the time is right to "call it a day". That day is now here. We urge you to try and retain some credibility and self respect by doing what's clearly right for the city of Coventry and the supporters of the city's football club.

Please do the decent thing and put our club up for sale.

In the meantime we will push on with our own course of action. That being the single minded aim of Preserving OUR Sky Blues.
Best Wishes
J. Taylor
Group Chair
PSB
Preservation Sky Blues"

Sounds quite ominous

Could a meeting not try and be arranged rather than all the open letters?

The past meetings were about engaging with fans, plans for the future e.c.t

This groups different, why would she hold a meeting with them?, you know Joy Seppala? the spineless coward of SISU...

Haven't BHSB and LAST met her? I would say they come across as quite extreme.

I just don't see the point in these open letters (whether it is fans, SISU, ACL or anybody) doing them.

I wouldn't know, but what I can safely say is this group want what roughly 90% of our entire fan base want, and that's SISU out. The only meeting she should hold is with potential buyers to sell this club that she dearly doesn't want, and walk off into the Cayman Sunset with what ever she squeezed out of the blood of CCFC.

Wouldn't you think?

I think we all know deep down none of this will work, they hold the cards, we keep losing whilst they clean up, what can be done? It's all on Joy to admit that this part of her portfolio should be passed on.

Would you think she would read this letter and decide to sell up though? I doubt she will even know about the letter.

I have never met her, don't know her etc etc but if she sat down with people like BHSB and LAST who are probably not shy in saying they want SISU out it kind of nulls your point.

I could be cynical and say this is released to stir up a bit of hate, is there a "hold up something on x minute to symbolise this" going on soon?

Of course 99.9% of people would prefer SISU to go and better owners come in, before somebody starts going off on one.

Since those meetings how many more promises do you think they've again broken?

The boy who cried wolf and all that...

But no I don't think she'll listen, nothing will.

That's a great letter. Unlikely to achieve anything unfortunately but a great letter none the less.

Totally agree Nick, futile and a complete waste of time and energy.

Owners just like players come and go but true fans care and are passionate and here for LIFE, thick and thin, good and bad. PUSB!

The product is poor and is a major reason why everyone is turning there backs - I don't give a shite about SISU give me some watchable football and i will renew my season ticket but i am bolloxed if i am going to watch a season more of this drivel that SP & waggot bloody serves up

Building on the huge success of their last open letter, did that even get a response?

Probably not, but they are articulating what many people think. I see it as a vent for the anger which is building up as we Slip further down the league. I am sure that SISU monitor these things - they are not oblivious to the fans ( even if they don't react ). Joy is carrying out her threat of continuous and expensive litigation. At some point she should see that she is also losing - Face, money and credibility. The more people that make their voice heard the better. Worst way they have got it off their chest.

Anyone with half a brain, expecting any kind of response from JS, would never have put this in a letter to her. It reads like some kind of veiled threat which has ultimately destroyed any credibility the letter had in the first place.

She wouldn't have answered it anyway.

Just got to wait until all the legals have been exhausted and see what we have left.
Wasting our time talking with people who have no interest in football and are just using CCFC for their own gain.
That's one of the mysteries of Sisu to me. The fact is that they have lost money and continue to lose it by staying. I can't see what they gain. Logic would say cut your losses and go. Sisu seem to operate outside of what to most people seems to be common sense.

Well, I've lost one and a half stone since the new year (because I wanted too, not because I've gone on hunger strike until TF makes the big new year announcement) so that makes me thin. I guess you're thick then.

Good effort fellas. Anything's worth a go to get through to her. I've even thought of shouting outside her office with a magaphone every day til she crumbles.

This type of letter is utterly pointless and probably is tossed right in the waste bin. A letter to someone like Joy Seppala needs to make a solid business case for folllowing a different path. It must suggest real solutions to real problems. I doubt that Ms JS is unaware of fans feelings but she is probably immune to criticism or to the feelings expressed in this letter. It seems their tactic is to exhaust all legal challenges before considering their next step. We will all just have to be patient until that stage is reached.

are you saying i'm not a true fan. i do NOPM because i have the balls to do something the situation requires not just follow like a sheep.
so stick your SISU as far up your rear end as you can and don't try to take the moral high ground as you can never hold it

Just what 'solid business case' can you imagine Joy going for? The vast debt CCFC has (allegedly) racked up inder her is never going to be recovered and she needs to realise that. She also needs to realise by staying she'll be chucking even more good money after bad. NOPM is our only weapon.

You know full well meetings will achieve nothing, what is needed is publicity and an open campaign against SISU, till they go the club is league one at best with a cheaply assembled squad.

Is that what you want, because that is all you will get by talking, as the SBT have found out.

JS wouldn't know a solid business case if it smacked her square in the mouth. That's not the business she's in. I thought every supporter of CCFC would have realised that years ago.

I agree Gaz. It's an appeal to someone who is ruthless and running a multi-million dollar business. The letter is heartfelt, aimed at someone with no heart.

SISU respond, not to words, but action that affects their pockets. No matter what publicity was generated with the marches through the city, the magnificent display at Arsenal on TV, the petitions handed in and protests outside SISU or the FL HQs - the return to the Ricoh was down to people refusing to splash their cash at Sixfields. The only part of the letter where they might raise an eyebrow was the thought of fans not renewing their season tickets.

It's probably going to have to come to something like a season ticket holders boycott to have any effect. SISU have never given any impression that they care about what happens on the pitch. I think CCFC is just a cog in their financial empire, indeed they may prefer us to be in a lower league as it would allow them to further cut their operating costs.

I agree with the letter, but regrettably do not think it will have the slightest impact on SISU's behaviour, well done though for making an effort.

The next crucial time seems to be in a year or so when SISU decide whether to take up the option of a further 2 years at the Ricoh. The deal to come back was struck with the Council, SISU will now be dealing with Wasps. Will be interesting to see if either party has room for manoeuvre in this. Failing that two further years on (I dread to think what league we will be playing in then) SISU will have to negotiate a fresh tenancy deal, it looks highly unlikely that any new stadium (if you believe it will ever happen) would be ready in 3 years. This is where Wasps could hold all the negotiating cards, and could turn the screw on SISU.

Ah sorry, the open letters will solve everything I forgot. Nobody outside of ccfc etc gives a shit.

It's just like bait, done to get the people going.

I and a few other Trust members have met JS, made us feel welcome, she comes over very well, listened to us, made some interesting comments but it solved nothing.
What will this letter achieve, probably nothing but from a positive side it shoes that a few fans still care.

So does dragging themselves up to the ricoh in the cold to get behind their team. Shame a pointless letter gets people more excited.
