I think the excitement and atmosphere was more a case of having something to get excited about which hasn't really happened at the Ricoh. If we had moved to the Ricoh and stormed into the premier league I'm sure we would have a different view.

With the benefit of hindsight we should have stayed but how much would it have costed to completely rebuild 3 stands? You would also need to buy up houses behind each of the stands as we were pretty tightly locked in.

I have a vague memory of this being looked into at some point many years ago and it being declared a non starter but I can't really remember anymore than that.

Of course an old and decrepit HR with no rebuilt stands would be a better situation to be in than hte one we are in now.

Individuals did all right out of the new stadium (thank you very much).

A lot of people bought into the idea; but were never told what the risks might be.

As with everything connected to CCFC; it's all about bad timing.

Hell we even won the FA cup in the wrong year; because of Heysel.

Yeah, I remember low crowds too, but again POV changes when comparing to low crowds at the Ricoh, but that's a different argument.

I remember the Anglo Scottish Cup with 5000 there and we played MIllwall in the Full Members Cup once and although I can't remember the gate I can quite clearly remember the rows of empty seats. A bit like being at the Ricoh now.

We were top flight them days and some games were only 1/4 full at most. but we need to remember that violence was mainly at fault not HR....although the surrounding streets and having the park right next door didn't help.

I think Mr Fisher and his approach of denying that they wanted the stadium bit him in the arse. And now he says that CCFC have no intention of staying at The Ricoh another bit of bullshit that will bite him on the arse if the seats change colour. This will further alienate the fans, but that ain't the Wasps problem.

I liked Highfield Rd I think that it was worth 12 points a year to us. West Ham will struggle when they move as I think that the fact of being close to the pitch, fans who have sat next to each other for years being dispersed will reduce the atmosphere like it did to us. I don't care about the great atmosphere that can be generated when we play Chelsea, or our return to the Ricoh can generate, they are one off's. To watch the game, it is excellent, but to enjoy the crack and the atmosphere it ain't so good. And I think the place is jinxed, it has been a shit place for us.

A better tactic would have been to say we want ownership of the Ricoh but ACL is not performing well and is reliant on the club to prop it up. If from day one he had stated a business case for what ACL was worth and what terms they would buy it on then we may not be where we are now.

But I guess it's easy to be wise after the event and while I completely disagree with the tactics employed I can certainly see why they buggered off to Northampton. CCC and Higgs were continually insisting they didn't need the club, Fisher was saying they were reliant on the club, its easy to see why with the two sides taking those views there was little room for negotiation.

I suspect as much as an attempt to distress ACL Fisher thought he'd take the club to Northampton and by the middle of the second season (so around now) the accounts would come out and prove him to be right, as indeed they did. What he didn't count on was CCC franchising in Wasps from London at the same time they were complain about how terrible it was that we were playing in Northampton.

We know the majority are from CV postcodes (something like over 70% of all tickets sold I think, then we have all the freebies going around Coventry) and that a lot are on free tickets and a lot of those just going for entertainment/day out/something different.

Its safe to assume the majority of them from CV postcodes have no affiliation to Wasps before the move in 2014, I'd also wager a very high % of these have been to a CCFC game within the last 5 years.

Wasps are getting a lot of undeserved support from the local community at the moment, a sure way to lose that support would be to change the seats and going out of there way to upset the football club who have represented the city for over a 100 years.

As far as Wasp support goes, I had some freebies and went along, there were not many Wasp supporters there, they were Leicester, Bath, Northampton fans who just rocked up to watch a game of rugby but were supporting Wasps on the day. It was different mentality
NB: The women supporters were a lot better looking too!

It's time we got rid of the sky blue anyway and you have to admit yellow and black is a distinctive combination. Maybe Wasps could become our new shirt sponsors? Another possibility is to keep the sky blue but as the away strip. Switch to yellow and black as the home strip, we already have yellow and blue as the away strip, we would just need new shorts.

Why is Wasps Support undeserved? They have put a lot into getting people to come and are doing well at their sport. It would, of course, be undeserved if the football club were putting more than them into getting people to come and doing better at their sport. But CCFC are not. They ( the owners ) are also pursuing a JR against their club's home city to boot, which the "interlopers" are not.

Because a significant proportion will be Coventry City fans, who will (regardless of what fisher says) still harbour hopes that we will remain at the ricoh long term. Changing the seats will be a kick in the teeth.
