Season Ticket Sales (4 Viewers)

Probably more to do with been owned by their fans. I point I also made at the beginning when discussing Bradford

Maybe the first season but this is their third season under fan ownership. The first two were dismal failures, both seasons favourites for promotion and nowhere close. In fact last season until they sacked their manager they were in very real danger of going down.

Yet their season ticket numbers are increasing despite being worse value than ours. They will most likely have an average attendance of over 15K in a division where the number of away supporters can be under 100.

Very good point . Given their situation and the division they are in , their support is outstanding. Somehow it defies gravity !

Some of the opinions of some of our supporters towards other supporters is little short of a disgrace.

If Tim Fisher and Joy Sepalla get to meet the likes of some of you. No wonder they come away with crazy ideas about 12k stadiums.

This 'well we are Coventry and that is the mighty Bradford' !!!!! Crap just doesn't cut it.

Give your fans optimism and a cracking offer they can't refuse you will see fans from this proud City flying through the turn styles.

This is a great city with great fans.

We can achieve the same as Bradford.

I am very confident that with the right football some well long over due success attendances we rise significantly.

Great fans pmsl, people don't want to support Coventry City

I think we are poorly supported , but .......

3 top 10 finishes in some 40 years adds to that does it not

Let's hope we get relegated a couple more times then, so we can get a few higher places in leagues more regularly.

And in a general sense, just to re-emphasise.

Our support ain't awful considering the detachment and general shiteness of it all.

But let's not go down the path of league placings. In the past 50 years we've had one of the higher average league placings among clubs; most teams would kill for our top flight record.

We are, when it comes down to it, a successful club. If we weren't, then we wouldn't be bemoaning our shiteness now. We should be proud of our top flight record, not ashamed of it.

Surely you would have expected teams like portsmouth to lose support because of how they went from winning the cup down to league 2 like a stone. With it happening so quickly surely they would be more likely to give up?

If they were anything like our fans then yes, but Portsmouth have a proper fanbase.

Nick they own their club. If Coventry fans managed to get ownership of CCFC and were seen to making decisions in the bat interests of the club. I think that would impact on the fan base here.

They haven't always owned it have they? Did they have poor attendances before the fans bought it?

12 k average in a higher division the season before fan ownership

15k average in division below the following season under fan ownership

The season before the Sixfields atrocity
We had 11k average they had 12k average in the same division. In pretty much the same circumstances

So if they are the marker for a good fan base I glad we can all finally agree we have a good fan base.

I am sure if the football played at sixfields was happening at the Sricoh we would have been on the 13k mark

I feel the same having to be associated with people like yourself.

Thank God for that. It would be a travesty to be valued by the 'our support is shit and our grounds to big for us brigade' you can lead the chants for the away support next season

Same circumstances really?

They finished bottom of the league with 32 points that season
Went on a club record run of 23 games without a win
Had a 10 point deduction hanging over there head for the whole season
In pre season they got rid of every senior player they had (no exaggeration) an basically played with youth players and players who were on one month contracts for the whole season
Played with a caretaker manager for about 6 months of the season as they couldn't attract/afford anyone else

Us
We were playing some of the best football for years under Robins until it went tits up when he left

And they still managed a better attendance than us

We'd be at close to Sixfields levels if that had been us

What do you expect from fans when they're say in the Ricoh to watch a league game in with 8k over fans and 75% of the stadium is empty? Even with the renewed optimism and operation PL we only averaged 21k meaning we were only using around 66% of our stadium. It ok banging on about potential, we need fans at the ground now to fund a squad good enough to get promoted. How many in reality will be turning up in the PL when tickets are £40 per match? The city is a poor one, yes Warwickshire is affluent, but also the city is changing the demographics are hugely different to 10 years ago let alone 40 years ago when it was working industrial city and football was affordable to all. That's why harping back to that wolves game is pointless, most city fans weren't even born back then. Do I think our support is poor? Yes, but then, I think I have a right to that opinion given I've stuck my hand in my pocket, bought STs and will be up there regardless of whether we play Burton or Man United.

So now it's not pricing that increases the fan base but fan ownership. Lol.

As usual no he isnt

Yes I am - as sure as dropping prices by 25% doesn't guarantee an increase in season ticket sales. We know that don't we?

Well you can't have it both ways they had very similar crowd attendances to us the last time we were in the sane division.

So either we are not as bad as you and few select others like to blest on about.

Or Portsmouth also have a shit fan base

I would suggest it's the former

The last season prior to the takeover was 2012/13 and they averaged over 12K in League One. That's the season they finished bottom. Think they ended up with around 50 players having made appearances for them that season as they were basically left with players no one else wanted and could only bring in players on free transfers.

No your right it must have been getting relegated to the 4th division that stoked an extra 3000 fans imagination

So having lost the argument on pricing we've now moved to fan ownership - I assume Portsmouth didn't reduce prices by 25% did they?

Yea, they had to get rid of all there players pre season and were playing with players on one month contracts. They went on a 23 game winless run and finished bottom, they had a caretaker managed for 6 months and were in administration for about 8 months of the season. Still had more fans than us

As I have always said many factors will influence whether a person buys a season ticket or not. The most powerful will be price.
I have simply stated we should ascertain the lowest price to maximise the crowd without losing a load of money. Or the drop in price gets balanced by the increase in customers. As I believe Bradford have done.
You and a couple of others have desperately tried to change the debate and my point to suit your own point.
I will stick with what I am saying.
The really disappointing thing that has come out of this is a couple of you do not think we could fill a stadium like Bradford or Porstmouth can. The way you say it is quite dismissive and derogatory about your own football club.
Which I say bollox to you. CCFC can and would get 20k plus fans regally given the right circumstances. Such as Bradford currently have
1) Owners that the fans believe in
2) optimism for the season
3) a cracking price as an incentive

Of your 3 points, we have 2 of them in place and still haven't sold 5k.

I only see 1, that is the price.....

I am optimistic for the upcoming season, we have one of the top managers in the division. Have made three good signings already, extended the contract of our best player when he is fit, I'm excited about seeing Maddison play and I also have faith in Mowbray to make more good signings.
