48 years ago i am certain we didn't win any of our pre-season matches including Dudley Town away which we drew 2-2, i know that because half a dozen of us went on our push bikes, took a bloody week to get over it.
We went on to win the championship and get into the top flight.

Please clarify the relevance to 48 years later.

No he was asked about the squads fitness not new players

Got ya. Tbf I'm not a fan of Conor Thomas one bit so I would want to forget about him also

Today was awful. I love how Andy turner on Twitter has just said "arguably our worst performance of pre season" fucking arguably? Christ how bad were the other games?

See we didn't need to go abroad to get bad results we have managed to do it just as well in this country

So if TM don't see Armstrong as his type of forward you've got to question why he was bigging him up as this great young finisher 2 days ago. Very strange

is it possible he see's him as an attacking midfielder ?
I don't see how\why. Newcastle aren't going to allow one of their best young players who they see as the next Shearer to play attacking midfield. We're fortunate we have him in the first place never mind playing him out of position

TM knows what we need by now. We will probably lose to Wigan, but Even with a top squad we would have problems against them. We have a top quarter of the League budget, experienced manager and are playing in Cov. I don't doubt that we will get half decent loan players. They will have to bed in during the season, but that is where we are - not first choice. We will be top half by Christmas anyway and take it from there....

Newcastle see him as the next Shearer but TM does she him as his type of forward.

Something isn't quite right is it ?.

Coventry City boss Tony Mowbray drew a veil over his side’s Liberty Way stalemate against Oxford United admitting: “We were poor – very poor!
“It was an eye-opener for us because it shows how far away we are. We’ve played well in some of our games and perhaps not scored the goals we warranted but today we got a bit of a lesson from Oxford.
“You give them some credit because they were very organised, very disciplined – they denied us space to pass and we didn’t really have a Plan B. It was very frustrating, very unlike the way we play, but it’s best to get these games at this stage of the season rather than next week.”
“When you’ve been in football a long time you know that sometimes you can have a poor pre-season and start well and sometimes you’re flying in pre-season and you lose the first three.
“We won’t put too much stock on today. We know we were poor, we know we didn’t get started but I’m sure it will be OK next week.”
Adam Armstrong, on a six-month loan spell from Newcastle United, made his debut for the Sky Blues and showed impressive energy up front, Mowbray saying: “He’s only been on the training ground for a day but you could see how sharp he is round the box.
“But we can’t hang everything on an 18-year boy. We need more ammunition up front and I’m pretty sure the right people will come along to help out the team, but perhaps not before the season starts.”.

That was pretty rubbish.

Can I be the first to use UnconVincelot?

Wigan are gonna batter us at this rate. This team is weak and it doesn't exactly sound like reinforcements are imminent.

THIS.

Its pretty much everything he has been saying all pre season. No reason for any of us to doubt him now !

I thought we should be patient, all would be well by the start of the season

Oh, now all will be well by the end of August....

There's 5 games in that time, that's 15 points available. Whether that's at the top or bottom of the table, in this league, that's a huge amount of points to not take advantage of....
