If you not expecting answers it seems a silly idea to post the questions. I understand you consider they are deeply thought provoking but this is a football forum not a philosophy course. As I understand it from past posts you have or have had meetings with all the parties so why dont you ask them direct? I also note you tend to avoid raising questions what WASPS intentions are - now that would be interesting!

You do know that this is a general chat forum? Everything on here is philosophical by nature as whatever we discuss isn't being directly replied to by the club. I think you're missing the point of a forum.

I can see the Butts as a viable option for 15-20K, moving past that I think you'd start to struggle.

Shame the old folks place is being built. If that land was in the mix there might be more options, you could even consider incorporting office space and a theatre into any new build to replace what is already there and give you more land to use.

Yep, we've missed the boat. I think you'd even struggle to get 20,000 in. 15,000 at a push perhaps, but I think that would just about be it and remember, many people already seemingly expecting more than 15,000 tomorrow for a League One game.

Wherever we end up it needs to be capable of 25,000 at some point.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say if we get promoted, we will average 20k at least next season.

It's an OK starting size, but you need to go at least 25k in the future.

I think we've already proved that we can attract 20K in the championship so talk of 15K is nonsence.

i still think if the Butts is the way forward the stadium would be lowered, abit like stadium MK, if they dug it out you could easily get a 25k stadium on there but it probably would cost more... A question i want to know is the land behind the old collage waste land at the moment??? i have seen pictures of the old card park as not really in use, is that the case? theres also the park as well, if something was agreed where a community area was also included the location could be altered slightly to what we see now! would be a fantastic location but still alot of questions surround it....

Twice the average gate was 20k or above. If you removed games with 6k away fans it would be lower still. 20K is plenty for CCFC over the last 40 years.

20K with room for expansion by a few thousand is acceptable. 15K is tosh. Considering our move is all about revenue the suggestion of 15K doesnt add up.

If we play 23 home games and ticket prices are £ 20.00 and average F & B spend is £ 2.00 we stand to loose upto and over £ 2.5M a season in revenue over a 20K stadium. The reality is you have to throw extra home cup games in the mix and also take something out for segregation so we're actually turning our backs on even more revenue.


I can't see how a few functions (assuming that there will be room at the BPA to build these facilities) a year is going to make up the difference.

Exhibition hall .. Gone
Casino .. Gone
Retail estate .. Gone

The very reason we are moving is to get these incomes.
Butts stadium does not satisfy the Sisu 'business case' although the current fans would be happy with and it stops the 'glory hunters' :whistle:

Isn't average ticket price nearer £10? One of the biggest income streams we lose out on at the moment must be naming rights. If, and of course it is only if, the naming rights to the stadium and various stands could be sold for a decent amount that would make a big difference.

Thats still almost £ 1.4M at £10.00 a ticket average. How much are the naming rights going to be worth in reality?

You also have to consider that there will be a debt to service for the build cost, no supermarket or any other partner is going to be able to pay/subsidise the build cost as there simply isn't room for them to come in with us.

No academy or training ground going up either so no windfall from the sale of Ryton and we'd still either need to keep the academy at Higgs or find a third location for it or a bigger second location so we can sell Ryton and move the training ground and academy to one joint location.

How does 15K at the BPA stand up?

Some car parking I believe and that is something that in all likelihood we will loose altogether if the the BPA happens so if we're going to go the business plan has to stack up which means that we have to maximise our potential.

At 15K we are strangling that potential.

Too close to the city centre but poor access. I stopped reading after that.

Naming rights and 365 days a year sponsorship/advertising opportunities would be the main two which almost every club in England has access to. At the moment we earn nothing from naming rights and can only sell advertising space at the Ricoh for 23 days a year in a 90 minute window in the form of pitch side advertising boards.

Most clubs who can use the ground all year round have far greater levels of turnover and they need it. Look at the attached. Look at the revenue achieved by the likes of Birmingham City and explain to me how that would ever be achieved on a 23 day rental deal at the Ricoh.

Where do you think we would sit if we were included in this league table? As an independent analyst what would you do on a Ricoh rental deal to grow the revenue to even moderately competitive levels?

thats just a few of the basics.

Then things where money would be saved (office rent, shop rent)

IT doesn't need a casino and hotel to make money on non matchdays.

IT doesn't need a casino and hotel to make money on non matchdays.

Although this will not happen the recipricol benefits would be obvious and the two clubs could really market their heritage and the fact they are the real teams in Coventry. They would be able to attract greater sponsorship deals and work with the local community. Rugby itself is a minority sport.

It would not even be impossible to attract concerts. Acoustically the Ricoh is not great. I saw REM at the City Ground and that was far far superior.

Our turnover in the 2011/12 season would see us above the following teams....

Peterborough £10m (now in league one)
Barnsley £9.1m (now in league one
Bristols city £8m (got relegated to league for 2 seasons, currently 2 places/points outside the relegation zone in the championship)

Depends on the numbers I guess. A % share of a larger amount may be great than the total of their current revenue.

An average which accounts for juniors, free tickets and other discounts etc etc.

Absolutly although I highly doubt Wasps are going to give away that much revenue to us. It could work with CCFC and CRFC due to the likley difference in incomes required compared to other teams they need to compete with.

So we would take the bigger income and CRC the smaller ?
Even though they are currently established in the Butts. Good luck with that one.
