    Summer transfer window 2024

Agreed, Thomas was further down the Burnley pecking order than McNally last summer (coming off a season in L1 vs McNally in the champ) but the tables have definitely turned for those two based on how last season played out. Don’t think McNally would suit us now.

Euros. Everyone who might be interested is now glued to the Euros to see how their other targets get on. Arsenal have been tracking Sesko who, even if he ends up top scorer, is probably going to be cheaper than Vik.

Ho reassuring for ETH. “We’ve been talking to other managers about the position but reluctantly decided to stick with you (for now)”

    Get This-Simms

Ok I can see this is an article of faith for you. Not fussed enough to dive into a semantic rabbit hole. I’m not entirely convinced by what most of the world calls AI either.

    Get This-Simms

I wouldn’t disagree that it is full of shit but ChatGPT is supported by a Large Language Model (LLM) - a recognised part of the AI landscape.

Just goes to show how far AI output is from being usable in many cases.

    Transfer Rumour Paddy McNair

Whether or not the rumour is legit, McNair would be good. From what I gather, Boro can’t justify keeping him as they have a CB partnership that works better. Doesn’t mean he’s become a bad player. He played a massive part in their run to the play offs last year and is a decent defender & solid...

    Victor Torp

He also exudes calm and seems super focused. I must admit, I was a bit surprised how wayward his first touch was at times but I think that was where lack of confidence was showing. And 100%, he either scores or pulls defences apart. I’ve always loved a striker who can rough up centre halves...

Agree with most of that. Simms does take a while to build up speed. But even at full pelt it’s well short of the speed of say, Wright imo. It’s that strength you mention combined with reasonable speed that gives him a real edge. Looking forward to seeing more of it again next season.

    No Euros For Madders

I dunno, you can get them to turn a bit

And DaSilva and Sakamoto. Like I said, there’s always been a sprinkling. But Robins seems to value other attributes more highly and doesn’t often talk about pace when discussing players’ strengths

    Victor Torp

He’s not the quickest but perhaps that points to a more posession based approach. Got to say that while he has a sprinkling of speed in the team, I’ve always had the impression that pace is fairly low down Robins’ list of priorities. He hardly ever mentions it (a notable exception is Simms - who...

    No Euros For Madders

Maddison has been unlucky with injury and form since his return. Based on the first three months of the season, he would be ahead of Palmer in the pecking order. The only decision I really disagree with is Dunk over Branthwaite. I do realise that if Stones gets injured/suspended then we lack...

    Victor Torp

I like him a lot. On top of his shooting ability he seems very able to receive the ball in tight areas, under pressure and find a telling pass. I can remember two or three very sneaky balls which cut right through the opposition defences high up the pitch. He will need defensive cover as most...

    Incoming

The cost of raw materials has increased drastically since we did the deals for Gus, Vik & Sheaf. Joking aside, Vik was a big gamble at ~£1m with limited track record. Gus was a total bargain and undervalued, partly as a foreigner. Young English players always command a premium.

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Sounds like a standard nip and tuck on the cartilage. The only way he was likely to have been sold before the Euros was if Sweden had qualified. Get him fixed before other clubs’ doctors start sucking their teeth about his knees resulting in lower offers.

    Summer transfer window 2024

The thing with Sheaf is that, yes we do have a relatively strong hand now but it’s a fleeting moment. By the end of the current window it’s a lot weaker. There’s still the January 2025 window but usually there’s fewer potential buyers. After that window closes, the clock really is ticking. As...

    Tomorrow's FA Cup Final

I don’t often find myself wanting Man City to win anything. But tomorrow I do hope they tear United a new one. After that, the next time I want to hear about Man City is the 115 charges whenever (if) that happens.

Is it 1 April today ?

The signs from Bayern have been quite weird for a few months now. The Tuchel spectacle has been a slow motion car crash. The better players will have been on high alert as it is. Alarm bells will now be ringing. It may work out ok. There’ll be some automatic respect for him but he’ll need a...
