Ruud Van Nistelrooy applies for Coventry Job

Kompany's name certainly helped attract a better class of player, but I remember before that season started there were quite a few posting on here that they had financial issues and would struggle, so their success that season wasn't neccessarily the given its now remembered as.

Surely this has to happen every home game if RVN gets the job

I didn't really venture into town much until 1983, but in terms of nightlife Cov wasn't a 'Ghost Town', as other posters have said all the pubs and clubs in town were packed. It was very dangerous though and there were lots of fights. There were also diminishing job opportunities and increasing...

Right who's the next manager then?

I'm not convinced by Edwards. Considering we've just got rid of MR for having us near the bottom of the league, it seems a bit naff to then bring in someone that's had an even worse start to the season.

Surely this has to happen every home game if RVN gets the job

Back on the Specials, I understand that those that were not around at the time might not get it, but for that 2 year period to have a provincial town as a hub for a music movement was very unusual and still is. By comparison the biggest band in Leicester at the time were Showaddywaddy! 2 tone...

Surely this has to happen every home game if RVN gets the job

Not our entire fanbase granted, but all the specific examples I gave faced abuse from elements of our support.

Surely this has to happen every home game if RVN gets the job

Granted it was a very short time but between 1979 and 1981 they were very big. They were featuring at the top of the music charts when people bought a serious amount of records. It's what a lot of people outside Coventry positively associate with us. Even if you want to discount the music, the...

Surely this has to happen every home game if RVN gets the job

I think most Cov kids that were into music would know the Specials.

Right who's the next manager then?

Can't see DK going for Moyes even if he was interested in the job. I get the feeling he wants a much younger coach, so we're probably looking at someone in his 40's.

Twist and Shout was also a cover by the Beatles, so does that not make it their song?

Ruud Van Nistelrooy applies for Coventry Job

I think that's incorrect. We were trying to sign him but he had a bad injury which kyboshed the deal. When he was fit again he then had a top season with PSV before joining Man U.

Right who's the next manager then?

It might be Lampard, it might not. I doubt DK has decided either way right now. The betting market is all guesswork really. The bookmakers will probably be the first guide as to who the new manager is though, as once they get an inkling of who the new manager is they will simply stop taking...

    Ex Player Watch

As well as our League 1 season, Dabo was also pretty good in our first season in the Championship. He then suffered a hip injury I think it was, and apart from the odd game here and there after that he was never the same player he had been before. MR kept him for the next couple of seasons...

    Loans conundrum

Is that promoted or relegated? Every club seems to have loan players these days so its probably both!

Next Game Sheff Utd - Hamer OHare

Agreed. We should just ignore them before and during the game and leave any applause until the game is done (and hopefully when they've lost). The problem comes however as with Maddison if some of our support decide its clever to boo them, because that then brings an opposite reaction from those...

Right who's the next manager then?

Carsley has already committed himself to the England under 21 job.

What’s your expectation for the new guy?

That's ridiculous. MR had a proven recored in the previous 2 seasons of turning us round. The Derby game was poor granted, but that was on the back of 2 good performances that indicated an upward channge in momentum. The players we have are also good enough to be top 10 in this league, even if...

    Frank Lampard Rumours

The new manager is never going to be a universally popular choice whoever it is, and to be honest a manager's previous history (good or bad) is not often much of an indicator as future success. Some managers are a good fit for certain clubs, but failures at others, only time will tell. It is...

What’s your expectation for the new guy?

If MR had stayed I was expecting us to recover to be Top 10 come the end of the season, although play offs had become a bit of a stretch, if not impossible. Any new manager will therefore have those same expectations from me.
