    Leicester points deduction

They should be. A lot of Premiership clubs want the FFP rules scrapped or at least the sanction restricted to fines. That's a joke for those clubs, such as Man City and Newcastle, which are owned by oil-rich countries. Hopefully the rules will continue to apply in the EFL. I was opposed to the...

    Leicester points deduction

That's true but they are also allegedly in breach of the EPL's rules. If I remember correctly they brought the legal action to prevent that being enforced last season and potentially denying them promotion.

Who cares about the state of our defence/defensive midfield? With a front six of Saka, Simms, BTA, Wright, EM-C and Bassette we will easily outscore Bristol 👍 7-4 to us 🙂

    Leicester points deduction

Leicester launched a legal challenge which has no merit just to ensure that they could avoid a points deduction in the Championship, get promoted and cash in on the Premiership pot of gold this season. In addition to being docked points they should forfeit the Premiership cash, including future...

    Summer transfer window 2024

I think we will only play that formation if (a) the two at the back are wing backs and (b) two of the halfbacks are attacking midfielders. It’s important to get the balance of the formation right.

    Transfer Rumour Norman Bassette

Looking at the balance of our senior squad I think it’s more likely that we will be playing 2-2-6. With Dovin as a sweeper behind the two CBs.

    Summer transfer window 2024

We were reportedly interested in Andrian Kraev and Illay Camara a few weeks ago but it all seems to have gone quiet on both fronts. It seemed at one point that Camara would go to Standard Liege or PNE but as far as I can see he hasn’t moved yet. I can’t find any updates about a move for Kraev...

An annoying 8th wicket stand by de Silva and Rathnayake. We need to polish the tail off now.

The word about Worrall is that we can’t meet his wage demands and that he is in talks about joining Burnley.

Exodus, chapter 15 verse 2 (Good News bible) “The Lord is my strong defender”. It appears that @Ccfcisparks is correct. 😊

As I said, I definitely think it’s worth a try. I have long held the view that good footballers should be capable of playing in more than one position. Look, as an example, at Dion Dublin and how he converted from being a striker to a very good centre back.

That’s a very interesting choice that hadn’t occurred to me. We need some divine intervention to help us keep a clean sheet, so probably an excellent suggestion. Would you play Him as a CB or a holding midfielder? What next? Doubting Thomas in for Bobby Thomas?

It is, which is why I wonder if he could fill in for Sheaf while he is out injured. If it works - and I accept that it might not - pairing both of them together when Sheaf is back could shore up our defensive capabilities.

    Oxford player ratings

I agree. We should have one or two up towards the halfway line. The opposition will then need to keep one or two players back to cover the breakaway, so we wouldn’t lose defensive cover.

I disagree. We needed to play well - which we did, at least when attacking - to beat them.

Thanks. It was a great game to watch and Oxford certainly played their part. Based on your performances to date I think - and hope - that you will do fine this season.

Lovely goal by Haji. If he had shot first time, as I thought he would, I think their excellent goalkeeper would have saved it. Haji did the right thing by dragging it across and going round him. Haji was the MOTM for me but MVE, Saka (until he tired) and Rudoni were all excellent.

We are attacking in numbers, which is great to watch but makes us vulnerable to quick counter-attacks. I think we may need to play in a slightly more pragmatic style. Just a little tweak because this is great entertainment.
