The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

I love the first one. Certainty is a sure sign of ignorance IMO. Do people here know about the Dunning Kruger experiment? It turns out that intelligence and ability are inversely proportional to certainty and confidence.

Mart, I didn't even know what Breitbart was until you started going on about it. It's rather disingenuous of you to keep namechecking it.

Oh, OK. Well I'll be the first then to say that I don't like Muslim terrorists. I like most of them though - the ones that don't kill people... the ones who, for example, might want to take a German citizenship test.

I'm pretty happy with where we have landed so far (I think... reserve the right to change my mind if more information becomes available). If we are to have open borders between NI and Eire I cannot see a more palatable solution than the one we have reached. Logically, if we have regulatory...

Great, so if we had controls we could take the number we need and not soak the economy with thousands of people working in factories; washing cars and so on.

... and to the detriment of productivity - the cause of a downturn in economic forecasts. This is why: Productivity is the driving force behind economic growth and increased prosperity. Productivity increases through investment in automation by private companies (and also investment in...

Absolutely, it is a factor. If we didn't have stamp duty there would not be a financial disincentive to moving - a terrible tax IMO, it disincentivises people from moving which impacts mobility of the workforce and also downsizing. I think that with older people however many wouldn't move even...

Agree with most of this, however: he NHs has a lot to do with an ageing population, lack of funding and a lack of staff. Not purely because of migrants. Agree, but increasing the population is also having an effect. Greece was not a wealthy country before the EU. It’s tax system was weird...

I know full well that anecdotal evidence is not worth independently corroborated stats, but anecdotally I hear lots of horror stories from Sweden. My daugher's boyfriend is Swedish. He lives with us but obviously talks to his family often. His father says that there are entire areas of...

I'm sorry, I don't normally take the piss, but I'm intrigued as to what you think the rule is as to when to use an apostrophe on words ending in s. I used to think you used it on all plurals, but you've omitted it on Romans and Saxons - it's clearly more arcane than I'd guessed.
