    Match Thread Sheffield Wednesday

For a one nil defeat that was quite an entertaining game. We created a lot, put some decent balls in and played some good stuff at times but we could play til midnight and not score. Giles run late on was a perfect example, brilliantly skips 3 tackles and messes up a simple ball to put us...

It's a bit of a concern that the death count hasn't come down of late. There tends to be a two or three week lag between cases being announced and deaths occuring so right now we should be seeing lower deaths because of the effect of the recent lockdown and then higher deaths early in the new...

Midfield looks to be a big problem today so 2 upfront, hit it long and try and bypass it as much as possible.

    Formula 1 2020

It's always a bit of a punt guessing how a team will react to new rules. I think Merc will get it right but there's always the chance another team will luck into getting it even more right. It would not surprise me once Hamilton has 8 championships and 100 wins he will look to call it a day...

The R rate figure given today is for the week ending 12/12, so already 6 days out of date. I'm sure totting up all the stats is a huge job, it just strikes me as strange that in a fast moving pandemic we are releasing such outdated figures. Over the past week case numbers have gone up around 40%...

    Formula 1 2020

Albon probably would have won the 1st race of the season if Hamilton hadn't have nudged him off track and it's been downhill pretty much ever since for him. I'm sure all the rumours have not helped his performances but a year out of the public eye will do him good and he's got time on his side...

After the 5 day relaxation is my guess. Imagine announcing it now, any semblance of common sense over Xmas will go out the window for a sizeable minority.

That includes the Welsh backlog - ordinarily they would have been announcing 2000 or so cases, but announced 11,500 so the real UK figure is around 26,000.

18,038 people in hospital in the UK with COVID right now - I can only find 7 day averages but that's more than when lockdown 2 happened and seems to be at it's highest since mid April.

5 days I think, the last set of figures inputted with no issue were last Friday's given on Saturday. It looks like their true case rate is between 2500 and 3000 a day which for a country their size is pretty grim and this off the back of high figures for months on end on areas such as Merthyr...

Yes, doesn't look good down there and Wales Public Health have announed they will be reporting a backlog of around 11,000 cases tomorrow so I reckon South Wales is in massive trouble too.

25,161 cases today. 612 deaths. Only includes about 500 Welsh cases as their new reporting system isn't working properly. There's potentially been an under report of around 2,000 cases due to those issues since the weekend.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/stories-55280321 An interesting piece about a test and trace worker. I did think about applying to do it myself but I think I would be sacked off within the hour, assuming I woul be able to get hold of someone to speak to in that time.

What's gone wrong in Germany? Over 800 dead today. 333 was their highest during the first wave and they had less than 800 total throughout June, July, August, September and October combined.

Wouldn't that have been similar to what Wales did? Their figures are attrocious and might hint at what's to come for us in the next couple of weeks. I think the problem we have is our idea of lockdown is nothing of the sort. Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M - All essential and continuted to trade...

That's what I like to hear, everyone's safety is the most important thing. There will be a lot of people wishing they could turn the clock back come January. My grandparents are 90 and 95 and have yet to see my 1 year old Daughter. Due to other circumstances they were unable to meet before...

Some people are going to spread COVID around the dinner table at Xmas and then come January some people are going to die. The risk is small but the risk is there and nobody can say they didn't know or didn't understand. As hard as it is the best thing to do is shield the elderly and vulnerable...

I think we have conceded one goal from open play in 7 games? Fantastic turnaround in such a short period of time and with our first choice keeper injured.
