Do you want to discuss boring politics?

    Glad that’s your key takeaway.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

    A) By and large, no I don’t think they are. I think it’s fair comment that the system we’re now in, of which the ‘boomer’ generation have largely benefited, is completely unsustainable. B) I was actually laughing at your use of others’ behaviour as a means of justifying your point when you jump...

Have they been forced to sell everything off or have they been asked to pay a bit more of the profit they make in tax? Hmmmm.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Rob, just dragging it back to this. You mentioned that whilst house prices were cheaper, wages were less and there was usually only one income in the household. Does this not demonstrate to you the property bubble? Most houses now will be seeing two income sources to maintain various payments...

    Southport Stabbing

My gut feel is that the answer is nothing, and I think that’s why they didn’t reveal it. Because they couldn’t give it the “known to the security services” caveat.

    Southport Stabbing

Clearly it’s not in the public interest to reveal everything about everything. Because one person in a hotel did something it is not carte blanche to set the place alight.

Pete, as it happens I agree with you on the rioting point. That was whipped up without any of what we now know being public knowledge. They rioted on supposition and it’s a nonsense. However, let’s be real here. There’s clearly something that’s gone awry if this was indeed known by the police...

But unless they decided to search his house last week (I’d imagine it was one of the first things done after identification) I don’t see why they doubled down on it not being terror related.

    Southport Stabbing

I’ll admit I think it’s a shocking dereliction of duty to keep this hidden from the public. I genuinely don’t understand what was to be gained by doing so. Edit: I’m also intrigued how this came out. Seems odd for the police to voluntarily reveal the information miles down the line.

I thought they’d paid an extra amount to further reduce it. The article doesn’t read that way though so happy to accept I may be mistaken.

And if I’m not mistaken Sporting ‘bought back’ a portion of that over the summer. I’d expect it’s now 5% of profit.

    Mason-Clark

This. I’ve no issue with the signing on the face of it but if we’ve been looking for mid-20s players to develop I’d argue we were looking in the wrong pool.

WRIGHT and SIMMS through the middle

Think he’d…struggle is maybe the wrong word…but not be as impactful up top on his own. In a 2 he can drift a bit and it’s fine, go and find the space.

4 points in the last 2 games

Other thing I’d say is I’m not expecting points from Middlesbrough. As long as we keep our performance level up that would be enough for the time being to convince me we’re over the worst of it.

Thought even at half time our performance level vs pretty much any other league game this season was night and day. I had us down to lose today but I’ve come away thinking we can still salvage the terrible start into a possible challenge towards the right end of the table.

    Rudoni …?

Sensation at LWB today, albeit given the state of the game there was little defensive responsibility. Got on the ball in far better areas playing out there.

    Victor Torp

Certainly thought he did his fair share of defensive work today, but he benefitted from the fact he could go and press without fear of leaving a huge gap in centre mid.

    Roll call

The second goal particularly you’ve got Eccles, Latibeaudiere, Binks and Dovin not covering themselves in glory. Eccles gets drawn to the right hand side where Sakamoto and Sheaf were already, leaving an absolute chasm in the middle which meant no pressure on the pass. Lati sees this and rushes...
