    FA allows sex discrimination

Needed a trigger warning for this! What does their being young or a journalist have to do with it?

Transfer Rumour Raphael Borges Rodriguez signs for Coventry

People getting upset about this signing are like the people who slated Badlan for signing Bouwe Bosma.

    FA allows sex discrimination

Seems to me this discussion has been generally speaking pretty courteous and informative, and no-one on either side of the debate is being piled on for anything.

    FA allows sex discrimination

Because as a society, we make no legal or cultural allowances or considerations for people who claim to identify as a different age. Probably because - unlike with trans people - they don’t really exist as a community in any meaningful sense.

    FA allows sex discrimination

To the extent that trans people consider themselves to be another gender? How many people are we talking about? What’s the term for them? I’m honestly not aware it was a thing.

    FA allows sex discrimination

The scenario you’re describing doesn’t exist, whereas trans people do. Although if you think trans people are the same as someone pretending to be 10 years old then I can certainly understand you taking a harder position against their participation. A trans league is at least a constructive...

    FA allows sex discrimination

I’m not trying to shame anyone. And I don’t see why something as trivial as having sympathy for either women or trans people needs to come at the expense of the other.

    FA allows sex discrimination

My understanding is that there are (a very small number of) people who genuinely, sincerely consider themselves to be women, and who want to play women’s sport not because they want to invade women’s spaces, or unfairly dominate a less competitive sporting category, but because they feel safer...

    FA allows sex discrimination

I’m sorry - did you consider my question about whether you had any sympathy with trans people who wanted to take part in women’s sport to be misogynistic?

    The Kase(y) for Palmer

You can’t justify a player’s place in the team based off one statistical category. Palmer may be great at through balls, but he’s sorely lacking in so many other departments.

I find this pretty hard to believe

    LIAM WALSH

Obviously doesn’t make sense to sign him, but the romantic in me would nevertheless be delighted if we did.

    FA allows sex discrimination

Well clearly other people feel differently about how strictly the category definitions are applied when it comes to gender specifically. And I don’t know if I agree that every trans person looking to play sport at a grassroots level is looking to “force their way” in, or doing so to displace...

    FA allows sex discrimination

Which is all fair enough. Do you have any sympathy for trans women (or whatever terminology you’d use), or do you think there are ever any exceptions? The numbers of people involved seem tiny, so curious if you think there could be any way to compromise without shutting them out entirely.

    FA allows sex discrimination

I want to hear her perspective which is why I’m asking her the questions, if you’d just settle down for a second.
  18. S

    FA allows sex discrimination

Of course you are - my question is, is that contingent on trans people being barred from playing alongside you?

    FA allows sex discrimination

I honestly don’t mind if you insist on frothing away at every one of my posts on every forum, but at least have the courtesy not to misquote me, you’re getting sloppy.

    FA allows sex discrimination

I can see the merits in excluding those with a biological advantage from the highest competitive levels of a sport - even if I think the cases are going to be extremely rare, it makes sense to preserve competitive integrity. But at the grassroots level?
