    Allen injury

Big loss Allen. Always adds something when he comes on and is unlucky not to start more regularly

Match Thread Coventry City - Sheffield Wednesday [FA] Match Thread - Tuesday 6th Feb

I’m fairly sure no one hates the players. But it’s valid to have an opinion on their ability. Having said that I don’t think you can get too critical off the back of a 4-1. The games v Wednesday actually demonstrate the gulf we have between lower end teams - that’s huge progress.

    Centre forward problem

if you narrow the chasm it’s an interesting question. For example who is the better striker Quinn or Regis. One would get a lot more goals. Or more recently a Godden or a Biamou

    Centre forward problem

I’m talking about the hogwash that gets trotted out nowadays like key touches in the corner quadrant or average shits on a matchday.

    Centre forward problem

Stats will just never, ever, enable you to identify who is the better striker. It can’t for any position but that one in particular is especially nuanced.

    Reflections on the January Window

All this talk of being surprised we didn’t push for a winger or a striker. Maybe we did?? We have no idea. We also had a phenomenal summer in terms of adding depth. Who would have stepped in for Gyokeres last year? Or Doyle? Or Sheaf?

    Centre forward problem

We’ve rarely had prolific scorers at all. You can count them on one hand. In my time watching it probably boils down to Wallace, Gibson, Wilson, McNulty and Gyokeres. The irony is there is a huge block of top flight football in there where the likes of Cyrille, Speedie, Dublin were chipping in...

Bedwetters guide to Summer 2024 departures

Not sure people watch the same games. After settling in Wright was toying with defences. Then he got the adductor injury. He’s a cracking signing and will get better and better.

Bedwetters guide to Summer 2024 departures

I think the “outs” should be split. Those we want to let go I have as Kelly, Moore, Bidwell. Those who will go that we don’t want to = O’Hare. Those I think we may struggle to hold on to = Sakamoto. Incoming will be ECM, a left back, a 9, an O’Hare type and possibly Binks

    Ben Sheaf

Sheaf and Hamer are different styles of midfielder. For me, Sheaf is a better player or is more important to the team. £8m is a nonsense bid and he is worth 15-20m easily in todays market. The amount of attacks he breaks up, second balls he wins and link play is consistently immense. And he gets...

Match Thread Norwich City - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 3rd Feb

I think we’ll hang on to Simms. Godden will go and due to that we’ll naturally need a new 9. That’s a key signing and the two will compete. Then it will just be a replacement for O’Hare. Due to us signing permanent players we’re now in the happy place of tinkering and finessing rather than...

Let your mind drift to Mason-Clark. Wright. Saka O’Hare Sheaf. Torp

    Norwich Ratings

Have to agree about Simms. I keep reading that there’s a player in there - I wish he would step out. For me he’s an odd Robins signing in that he just isn’t a natural footballer. He’ll never get lots of goals as he’s just an awkward presence. Also don’t know how O’Hare gets plaudits. Live he...

The expectation of Simms and Wright is so cliched. Yes, they are tall guys. That doesn’t mean they need to engage in faux aggression and getting in peoples faces. Wright is nowhere near fit. Simms is just not that player. I’d like more goals from them, not meaningless posturing.

Just back. Take aways are that once Torp is fit he’s an exceptional find. If we are 10% more clinical we win away at one of the leagues best sides. Overriding emotion is encouragement. Allen taking some stick but I thought he was ok.

    Reflections on the January Window

Solid window for me. Two more prospects added to the “owned” ranks. No harmful departures and overall a sense that we are building professionally and carefully. No panic regards this year. Current squad is strong - in fact there is a thread stating that this team is better which most agreed with...
