They most certainly would not have said it last season
Fair enough, but I'm not looking for moral victories. We nicked a lot of 1-0 wins last season, but this season clean sheets are hard to come by and our strikers are firing blanks. They need an open goal to score.

Yeah I’m not going to disagree there.

I fail to see what DaSilva brings to the side, never seems to get forward enough to contribute and is weak and too small defensively.
Simms need a good kick up the fucking arse to get him mad, looks so disinterested most of the time.
I think we're going to fall just short this time, which is a pity as there's no guarantee we'll get there next year
Agree. We need to get rid of some of our new recruits like JDS and Simms and replace them. I've got no patience with these players who offer nothing

Surprised really. People said similar midweek when he was our best player then too.

I said before the end of the game, he looked today like he was trying too hard to make something happen, almost playing for himself rather than his teammates - he’d ignore a pass and instead turn back and try to beat a man again, he did it a number of times…maybe he’s trying to stand out to make more chance of a move next season, and obviously more time on the ball = more attention, who knows.

Just what is looked like to me anyway

It’s not going to get any easier to get promoted next year with teams like Everton potentially coming down
I reckon Everton will escape. Sheff Utd and Burnley are close to punching their relegation ticket. Just waiting to see if Forest or Luton may join them. Even if Everton drop down it's 1 team to worry about versus 3 like Leicester, Leeds and Soton - all of which will go up this season

Our game management at 1-0 up could have been better. Slow the tempo down, bring subs in, shithouse etc. Obviously had Wright scored to make it 2-0 it would have been much easier. Wright, Simms and Godden put together still cannot match Gyokeres' scoring output. That says something.
What were the inputs for Gyokores? He must have had a heck of a lot of balls coming to him. He went off the boil for his last 6 or so games with us. Must have been a reason for that?

Was carrying an injury at the back end of the season and I'm pretty sure was having injections to continue to play.

I was there and I thought the opposite tbf
I was as well. It was Ok. I was right near the home fans. plenty Of singing but it seemed quieter than at other away games.

The Norwich fans only really got going in the last 10 mins and were impressive after the final whistle blew.

Might have been that it’s the shittest transfer window and they feel deflated, I know I do.

The support of fans this season has been phenomenal, home and away the best in the league. For the club not to back Robins more in this window for me is a big mistake. The season is in danger of petering out and I think we all know it.
Don't think it was anything to do with that. We were level/winning for 70 plus minutes. Felt like a New Year's day hangover. Not too down at all personally. I'll enjoy this season regardless, but expect us to be stronger next season, regardless.

What you talking about? Godden and Wright have 17 between them, Simms has 4. That's 1 less than Gyokeres for the whole of last season.

I think it's more because he's so far ahead of those around him. Felt the same mid week. He doesn't trust giving the ball to Haji or Simms. I don't blame him.

yeah maybe, and to be fair I’ve been supportive of Simms so far and what he brings to the team, but today I didn’t see anything at all, he plays with the appearance of someone who can’t be arsed, which is fine if you back it up with something but I’m not sure he does…

I’d be pleasantly surprised if we are involved in the play offs this season, a) because I think we peaked too early, and

b) because (and I’ve been a bit confused with people saying we’ve got a stronger squad this season) at the minute we’ve got a fair few of our players looking out on their feet (eg Saka, Bidwell, MVE) a few not up to full fitness (eg Wright, Torp), and a few off the pace a bit (eg Simms, Godden, JDS when he plays, Eccles last game and a bit), yet we don’t appear to have much depth / quality to replace them.

We seem to be at least one goal scoring centre-forward light, lacking replacements down the right, and we lose one player in midfield and it seems far easier to waltz through it.

I’m not knocking what we’re doing, it’s a season of consolidation and building again, and there’s always a chance given where we are, which would be a bonus - one loss doesn’t make or break a season, but ultimately I think our lack of depth will be our downfall in terms of the playoffs this season - shame we didn’t strengthen in January to take advantage of our position but I’m sure there are good reasons for it..

Let’s be realistic though, the team have done well to get to where they are so far and we’re more than competitive this year so let’s just sit back and enjoy the ride

We don’t have as much ‘X-Factor’ as last season. But our general squad is a lot better than last seasons.

Looking at the careers of the players we let go in the summer and where they ended up, it’s a miracle we finished 5th.

February will be a tough month with fixture congestion, but we have some favourable ties.

There’s still plenty of time and I don’t think we’ve peaked at all. We played well today with a bit luck, we’d have won the game.

Home. Besides the result, left frustrated with a few things.

Defences must feel like they’re fending off a couple of tame kittens - where’s the strength, battle and grit from Wright or Simms? Wright in particular is piss poor off the ball, but neither of them are half the warriors we need them to be. Sakamoto, a player half the size, has it enough to spare.

Wright’s chance to put us 2-0 up. Shots don’t come much tamer than that.

Allen’s passing throughout. What was his success %?

Wasn’t Dasilva signed for attacking threat? Ain’t seen much of it…

David Wagner. Needs a lesson in respect and a fat lip chaser.

Let's face it Delilah creates more atmosphere heating up a bowl of soup. Norwich has never had atmosphere. They have always given the away fans a really shit view, can't even see half the goalline . Also one night game, no food - Cov fans on the road for four hours, absolute joke!

69%

For comparisons the other CMs on the pitch were 81%, 95%, 80%, 100%.

But for me the biggest disappointment was the number of touches, just 30 odd in 90 mins which for a CM is basically anonymous.

I love Robins but his continued insistence on playing Allen at CM really baffles me.

The expectation of Simms and Wright is so cliched. Yes, they are tall guys. That doesn’t mean they need to engage in faux aggression and getting in peoples faces. Wright is nowhere near fit. Simms is just not that player. I’d like more goals from them, not meaningless posturing.

It isn’t a continued insistence, it’s in the absence of Sheaf and with Eccles needing rotation.

Just a question following today SBT

if vik does go/if there’s money there regardless

for me, we have to spend a serious serious amount of that on a number 9, on unearth a gem

number 9 and a replacement for COH need to be where we look to invest the most, we can probably get a cb and the cm on loan as they’re probably going to be coming in to compete with what we have, not start

He's ok with two players sat behind him, but where he's in a position where he's expected to dictate the pace of the game it doesn't work. The second half today showed why he was playing as we had a few breakaway opportunities, but his execution was not up to scratch at all.

Yeah that's what I mean. He's OK as a 10 but not in that deeper role, just doesn't suit him at all.
