Don’t get the obsession with O’Hare. As a club we’ve basically been without him for two seasons. We’re doing ok I’d say. He’s a cameo player in essence. Personally I hope he goes in the summer just to put a stop to the endless speculation. He’s really less of a factor than most others.
Assuming we’re in the Championship next season I think we’re ok in terms of attack and defence. I’d like us to make a quality midfield signing to complement what we already have there. Assuming Godden goes well just need a squad cf. And if there’s anything left some cover at RB.
We’ve had a good season. He’s played a lot of games. So he’s doing OK. He’s young, versatile and is an international. So we should be pushing to retain barring a ridiculous offer.
Beto is distinctly average. He’s probably a 10-15 goal a season Championship striker so Everton should have just kept Simms. But that’s the ridiculousness of football in this era. It’s why Robins is like a breath of fresh air with his honesty and realism.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did bring 4-5k. And no, that wouldn’t be positive for the city. I’ve sat in the West Terrace many a time as Leeds fans basically ran into it. Not the most relaxing occurrence.
You can forget the form book at this point. Teams scrapping to stay up are as hard to beat as those at the top at this point. For me, whatever happens from here on in it’s been a superb season. FA cup semi at Wembley - great. But moreover this is the first season on the rung of progress. That’s...
I agree Palmer can be frustrating. His decision making is hit and miss and end product not consistent enough. But O’Hare isn’t light years ahead. If he’s better at all. He’s a very similar sort of player for me in terms of “hit rate”. Both are top level championship.
Palmer is playing ahead of O’Hare because he’s been better the last 10 games or so. Nothing came off for Palmer today. Maybe chance to give O’Hare a game or two. That’s just football. It’s not likely to be some sort of “downed tools, already signed for xyz” conspiracy piece. I’d be surprised if...
Sixes and sevens for me. Thought Eccles was our best player. Probably a game too far for the internationals. Thomas is adding consistency and let’s not forget Van Ewijk is doing a job out of position
When you look at what we were left with at the end of last season the rebuilding of the defence in its entirety has to be applauded. Kitching for me looks like a steal. He and Thomas could be the next Peake and Kilcline or Babb and Atherton. He’ll be a premier league regular in time - hopefully...
I mean, let’s not get carried away. Simms has started hitting the back of the net - fantastic. But his first touch is still poor. You’re putting him and Wright ahead of, just as a few examples, Dublin and Huckerby, Keane and Rousell.
