See Reece Burke is out of contract at Hull after winning the league, had a 1 year clause but couldn’t afford the wages he was on and offered a new contract instead. Ball playing centre half, 24 yo and over 100 games at Championship level.

Quite an interesting read a Blackburn analyst/fan has put together. Skip to the recruitment section, I’d imagine we would be looking in similar markets given our data driven recruitment and similar league position.

I shared this on Twitter too, it's absolutely incredible work. Gone into really great depth.

And yes, there's 1 or 2 names in there I'd like us to take a look at, mostly in the ones who just missed out on his shortlists tbf as they're probably a little less proven & therefore a little more achievable with our budget.

Yeah really impressive, I noticed Ben sheaf as one of the holding midfielders flagged up on the data, but he did say he didn’t think he was top end championship which is where they are aiming for.

They're obviously in a different world to us financially & requirements are different in terms of roles, but of those he's identified I'd be looking at:

Ben Sheaf (obviously)
Connor Ogilvie
Jack Tucker
Reece Burke

Zian Flemming - Had a conversation with another Cov fan about him on Twitter a couple of weeks ago coincidentally. Played with Hamer at Zwolle, statistically very good. Question mark over what kind of fee he'd need.

Yuta Nakayama intrigues me.
Another who played with Hamer at Zwolle.
Japan International. Predominantly a left footed CB but can also play LB & Midfield. Good on the ball, versatility would be great. Can he make the adjustment... Who knows.

Ollie Rathbone I've liked for a while but no urgent need for his role. If we lost Hamer & missed out on Walsh then maybe.

Great knowladge how many times have you seen Yuta Nakayama play? Japan have been improving defensively in recent years and have a half decent defender who plays for the national team at Southampton too. LCB with ability to improvecould be a shrewd investment

Not much at all to be honest, only limited video footage. I know he had great numbers before his move to Holland & he seems to have adjusted well over there, putting up good numbers again. Badlan & team will no doubt be well aware of him having watched Hamer for so long so we'll be better placed than most to make a judgement on him.

Great analysis there.
One thing i found incredible was that Armstrong didn't get supporter's POTS when he'd scored 28 goals...the award was given to their GK Kaminski who conceded 54 in 46 games

Kaminski is a very good keeper & a bit of a character which always makes for a fan favourite!
Definitely would have expected it to go to Armstrong though (outside shout for Harvey Elliott too).

It's easy to pick fault in Armstrong's game though too, which I know seems crazy...

If you look at his goal tally vs his xG they are almost identical i.e. he scores about the same amount of goals as you'd expect from the chances he's had. Elite strikers typically slightly exceed their xG by converting some of the tougher opportunities.
Armstrong's goal tally is massively swayed by the sheer amount of shots he takes. He averaged an incredible record 4.7 shots per game in the Championship this season, smashing the previous record high of 3.9 but he takes a lot of long range, low quality shots. Is that him being selfish or because the team doesn't create enough? Either way, Blackburn rely on him too much - he scored 43% of all their goals & his chances alone made up 39% of their total xG!
He also missed 23 'Big Chances' which was the most in the league.

No doubt he's an exceptional player at this level, but these are the kind of things Premier League teams will be looking at to decide if he can make the transition.

Complete non story as it always has been.
Transfer window doesn't open until 9th June & for free agents their contracts only expire on 30th June anyway.

Agreed. It has meant we haven’t been able to announce players this month but means nothing in reality. I just want some excitement - bored shitless since the end of the season

Other clubs are announcing players but are under exact same embargo as us.
i.e. Huddersfield with Jordan Rhodes etc. He just can't be registered whilst under embargo but as he's under contract at Wednesday until 30th June it makes no odds.

Ha ha, I know what you mean though!
At least we have the Euros this summer! 😄

That makes sense. Didn’t realise they hadn’t filed theirs either. Bring on the football!

Barnsley Huddersfield and Wednesday are said to be chasing Kyle Hudlin from Solihull moors. 20 year old striker scored 9 in 31 and he is 6ft, 9inches! Meant to be quite good with his feet too wonder if we have had a look.

I highlighted him a few weeks back. Watching a few of the videos on youtube he actually seems better with his feet than in the air. He is an absolute unit though.

Suppose with them attributes and his height he would be worth a gamble. Read he came from Sunday league so would probably take some good coaching.
