Fair enough.

Why do you think we are now after Bright? Patersons gone quiet about the same time hasnt it?

We were all shocked at Waghorn as he doesnt fit the usual recruitment model. Same as Simon Moore.

And thats because both were way down MR's shopping list

Walsh, James, Collins, Paterson all approached, and all missed out on for the sake of a grand or 2 a week here and there. We're not talking the huge differences in money offered by other clubs either, contrary to what people may think.

Why do you think that for the first time in MR's tenure here hes got 2 players in 4 weeks before the first game, when other pre seasons hes over halfway through his recruitment?

I'm not saying he's walking, far from it, but if you think that this summer has gone swimmingly and the bloke isnt cheesed off and had a few stern words with Boddy et al, then you're thinking wrong.

There's only so long you can give a man buttons to build a squad capable of cementing a side, and when after all hes done for us he still isnt being given what he thinks he deserves i can see why there's been some kerfuffle.

Anyway. I await the usual 'you know fucking nothing' or 'you're just stirring shit' or 'you're a wanker' comments
Right so Robins is leaving then

I'm not saying you are wrong but to think we could realistically compeat with Swansea is just daft. They are mile ahead of us in stature, finances and what they can offer in terms of career opportunities for young players.

2nd season is always a tricky one, we are no longer bottom feeders but also not quite established we are sort of between where we look for players at the moment. It'll come good. All managers moan it's natural

Oh i agree. But again, only what I've been told, but his frustration is apparently that he feels if were going to capitalise on solidifying ourselves as a championship club, its this season when other clubs are floundering under embargos, severe financial issues etc.

Hes not wanting the world, understands of course that we are still a small fish in a big pond financially, hes just wanting that little bit more to get 2 or 3 of his first choice targets over the line.

And so far no budging. Hence the words being exchanged

Thanks for sharing, but I'm not exactly surprised at the level of deals or who they are, unless we were selling an asset, or Richard thingymajingy was gifting some funds again.

If you recall i made a post about Ricoh return 2 weeks before any announcement. Also about St Andrews extension.

Also that Dabo and Rose had knackered hips last pre season

He's pretty solid.

Also told me about this apparently 'out there' away kit but that remains to be seen doesnt it

I wish we had one, we all know what Sisu can be like. They've ran us well the last few years though tbh.

I can kind of get Robins frustration though. Rock and a hard place. Knows hes not got loads to spunk away but surely earnt some extra financial trust with the miracles hes worked the last 4 years. Tough one

Not quite what I’ve heard but we are competing for players to improve our squad. Bright nothing to do with being lower down the list. Paterson will be one of many players offers have been made to, players taking their time too, especially if they have offers. I think you’re friends or contact are putting two and two together and getting 6

Boddy and robins are told the budget and work to make it work. Fisher does the job of talking to the owner about any changes to the budget. I would have thought there could be wriggle room this season but the reality is that last year without income will have had an impact. The wriggle room is exactly what saddle is saying. If by investing £1m you could argue that you are paying the equivalent of £4m or £10m in normal seasons then why not.

If we announce gyokeres and another couple as the itk guys have said this comment would look daft

To be fair though we all only know what we knowb

Could be Pete, different people hear different things, but id like to believe him as hes been close to the bone before.

Think the contention is as you say, yes they know the budget but as they're missing out on players for what in football wage terms is peanuts, I can see why MR is pissed off if not allowed any wiggle room by the overlords after all hes done for us

Id be amazed if we had missed out on our number 1 target of James by £1k a week

Not that unbelievable. Say it was 2k it Equates to 104 Grand a year end of the day.

Signing fee (fo example know nothing on that) but say we offered 50k, Bristol 60k..

Even on a 1 year contract thats Him better off by 114k for the year. Fine margins n all that

Yeah that’s right to be fair. Could imagine we have offered similar wages but Bristol could stump up a greater signing on fee

Not sure this makes a ton of sense tbh - had to 'settle' for players like Waghorn and Moore who don't fit the model (young, can be developed)....after missing out on Collins, Paterson etc who......also don't fit the model. Not saying he isn't frustrated - he might be. But we're improving positions (Moore is better than Marosi, Waghorn is better than both Bakayoko and Biamou)...and competing for better players where there will naturally be more competition. Whilst managing the after effects of a pandemic. Let's see where we end up but I dont think it's panic stations yet.

Well Fisher did always go on about budget difficulties if we got here.😟

Something is happening though isn’t it?

Yep. Just all isn't all rainbows and unicorns.

I'm sure it will be fine and things sorted, both Sisu and MR clearly trust each other and have worked miracles, thats why I'm not worried.

Just passing on what i was told as to the lack of signings, and general news and updates from the club

I don't see any alarm bells yet, it's a shame for sure but no dramas on the players we have lost out on:

James - went to a club famous for paying over the odds in wages, He links up with a manager he knows and several ex Leicester players. It's was a shame but I think we had no chance as soon as they bid.

Collins - historically been a weird relationship with him and the club. Went to a team who finished higher. Personally not that arsed anyway.

Walsh - went to a team who are on the up and have money. Shame but I think we were all just hoping sentimentality would play more of a factor than it can. Players can't gamble when they have such a short career window.

If we’ve only missed out on James by £1k then I’m more heartened. Isn’t he rumoured to be getting 20k, how many years did we offer him? I mean we could have offered 2 years and BC could have offered 3

That's because it's nonsensical. (Not to dig out Saddlebrains as he's only passing on what he heard).

Four years into his time at the club and Robins is suddenly coming to blows with Boddy due to the lack of resources budget - baring in mind there's just been a global pandemic that has nigh on crippled some clubs financially. It doesn't make sense.

Robins isn't naive he knows what the situation is at the club and is well aware of the constraints he's under. He's also previously stated that securing his primary targets is far more difficult than most people believe - and I think that was in League One so inevitably I'm sure he's aware that this would've only got worse in a higher division where we simply cannot compete financially.

He probably is having a difficult summer but so are the majority of managers throughout the EFL.

I'm in no position to disagree with the general theme that we are struggling to compete with other clubs, but that doesn't explain why the training reports have dried up
I noticed that, It seems coincidental that they have stopped doing the preseason reports/photos/twitter videos on the back of covid positive tests.

I understand that and thanks for not going at me personally.

I think what it is is that MR thought he would be getting a bit more backing when push comes to shove.

Again, none of what I've been told has been relayed to me in a 'shit hes going to leave way', it's just that MR feels that he can make us solid mid table with just 3 or 4 quality acquisitions supplemented by a loan or 2.

Just that them quality additions he's come up short financially, and when asking for a few more coppers from down the back of the sofa to get them over the line, hes been met with 'na mate'
