Back to being the biggest club in Coventry? (7 Viewers)

That doesn't make sense? I think most people want better owners, there was an announcement saying the move was temporary then none after.

To most that would read as nothing had changed, so it was still temporary.

You failed to understand my clear meaning. I am not going to waste time on explanations.

I don't go by the majority or minority to get an opinion.

You support wasps and they got the ricoh at the expense of the tax payer.

The taxpayer was forced to take this deal because the alternative was worse.
Is the real problem that Sisu could not finance ACL with the profile of a L1 club ?

While the information surrounding the deal is secret, we have no way of knowing if this is true or not.

I'm assuming you didn't mean the taxpayer btw (i.e. me!)

So why the big secret? I'd they had done the tax payer a huge favour it would have been all over the paper.

Isn't financial gain the reason we keep being told we have to move?

Yes it is but I can't recall anyone posting to say they'd be happy with us moving halfway across the country.

Let's say for instance that we'd all decided that it was OK to go to Sixfields because it was "temporary". Next thing you get is the FL saying 34miles clearly isn't too far, if their owners want to move to Hinckley, Rugby, Leamington or Warwick we can approve that because they don't mind traveling 34 miles 15,20 or 25 miles will be acceptable.

Except that didn't happen did it?

There's more than one way attending Sixfields could have backfired.

For instance, if no one and I do mean no one attended we'd have been home for Xmas in my opinion. Not only that of we'd reinstated ourselves as anchor tenant it might have deflected wasps interests or even have put CCC in a position where they'd have to rebuff wasps interest and persevere with trying to find a solution with SISU.
Leaving the Ricoh lost us all claim to the Ricoh and the longer we were away the easier it got for someone else to take over.

But as you say that is just your opinion. An alternative option is that in no one attended we'd have gone out of business and ceased to exist.

Ha why do you put temporary in speech marks? Can you post the link on the ccfc site confirming where the permanent move was to?

If we moved full time to survive 80 miles away then I assume italia and the trust would be bigging it up, I'd be out though.

Pointless coment.
We can't move 15 miles without loosing our fanbase or creating another one.
I'd be gone if the location is not related to Coventry.

How do you know what the alternative was? How do you know it was the best option when the Ricoh was never placed on the open market?

The Ricoh was put on the open market the moment the council leader went public and said that they'd listen to any serious offer for it. It's BS to suggest otherwise.

There's plenty of reference in the CT from ML, TF and possibly even JS in her LR exclusive. If I could be arsed to look I'd think it's almost certainly in the SCG minutes that get posted on the clubs site. I'm sure I don't need to tell you this though.

Can you show me where it says that we're only moving temporarily out of Coventry and we'll be back for the Gillingham game?

The whole move was temporary, the fl agreed to a temporary move and the sixfields situation was temporary wasn't it?

I didn't say we would be back for Gillingham, or back at the ricoh. Just that that situation was temporary, if it changed I'd have judged it then

I'm a little confused. I thought we were back playing in Coventry at the Ricoh but we're being told in this thread when we moved to Sixfields it was a permanent move away from Coventry.

Not wishing to add fuel to the fire ...

Tim's response to a question from the CT I think...

The club comes first. As such, we have moved on. We are entirely focused on the new stadium build. The plans will be developed in full consultation with the fans.
Please be absolutely clear, there has never been any intention to leave Coventry in the long term – just temporarily while the new stadium is constructed in the immediate vicinity of Coventry. This should take less than three years.

Is there any chance of City playing at the Ricoh Arena next season?
None. We have left the Ricoh Arena but that does not mean the club is leaving the Coventry area for good.

FWIW my decision to not go to Sixfields was nothing to do with a temporary or permanent situation

What is BS is to suggest that CCC went to the slightest effort to ensure best value for the taxpayer. You would put more effort into marketing a clapped out old banger than they did ACL.

Potential buyers could be local, national or international. They aren't all keeping an eye on the CT or an ear to CWR in case Lucas happens to make an off the cuff comment.

To market ACL and achieve best price it should be obvious to anyone there is a much more thorough process to go through than the one which CCC undertook. At no point did they appoint an agent to market ACL, at no point were promotional materials created and distributed.

And yet you are a paying supporter of wasps.....

Hypocrisy of the highest order.

Can anyone predict what would happen if wasps continuously got around £10k fans? Would they be able to survive at the ricoh or do you think they would need to sell? What impact would poor attendances and results for wasps have on CCFC?

Blaze the franchise?
It's a wonder it isn't already considering the hate of franchises on here. Oh hold on it's nothing to do with franchises really is it ?

Yes some of us hate the feklkin lot of them, but you tend to ignore that as it pisses on your fire.

Please state the full facts of the deal then, and the full facts and details of the alternative, you know the facts that are not in the public domain and are subject to confidentiality.
Perhaps you should write fact at the end of the sentence as that always means it must be true!

No Sisu said we were never coming back. In fact they are now at the Ricoh temporary and not coming back to Coventry next.
At what point do you tell them they are taking the mickey ? Or shall we leave it and concentrate on getting Wasps down to our level ?

I can walk there, doesn't mean I'd support villa they played the re. I support a team not a stadium.

So it's never about morals just Convenience? Strange you had an issue with the locals at Northampton going to our games.

So if sisu moved the club to the other side of the city say canley you wouldn't go because you couldn't walk there? Or what if they built a ground in exhall, that's Warwickshire not Coventry, would you go it is walking distance?

I can walk to the Ricoh, but I won't go and support a franchise team.

No not struggling, you're a hypocrite.

So where were we going to be after the temporary move? Perhaps you can show me on the clubs website where it said that we were definitely moving back to the City of Coventry?

I don't claim to know where after and as I've said I'd have judged it as and when.

You don't know either, but have made your mind up. I didn't know so couldn't decide.

It was always labelled as temporary to Northampton.

I'm not disputing that they didn't get good value for the taxpayer. I always thought it was sold on the cheap, my position never changed on what I thought it was worth unlike the posters who said it was a worthless white elephant concrete eye saw only then to claim Wasps under paid for the worthless white elephant.

So what you're saying then that if they did more marketing the sale would be acceptable to Wasps or whoever. What's the precedent on selling a stadium with no anchor tenant? Has it ever happened before? Just how many people do you think are in the market for an empty stadium in Coventry? Remember, some on here would have you believe that we were the only show in town. Again, my position never changed on that. I was one of the posters who got regularly laughed at for suggesting that someone else would be interested. I was suggesting that a short circuit oval shale track was most likely as the new home for the Bee's, although someone else did suggest the Wasps and this was all before AL announced that they'd listen to any serious offer. All laughed at.

Why? Where have I ever claimed that the move to Sixfields was or was supposed to be permanent? I said that it was said that we were never returning to the Ricoh or the City of Coventry which I'm sure you know is correct as you're trying to twist what I actually said was said into something I didn't actually said.

So you didn't know but you were happy to give SISU and the FL the OK that it could be anything up to 35 miles away.

That's right I didn't know either. That's why I chose not to risk endorsing either SISU or the FL to move our club away from the City of Coventry.

Yes the move to Northampton was only ever going to be temporary. It wasn't necessary and it was supposed to be the start of a permanent move out of the City of Coventry. Something you seem to be blissfully ignorant to.

I see each situation differently.
Never watched live PL rugby but I do now because I can walk up.
Northampton was to support Sisu takeover of the Ricoh. Why couldn't they just pay Higgs what Higgs paid them to help them out.
Franchising? Never gave it a thought.

Where was it confirmed we were moving to?

As I have said, when / if it was announced I'd have judged it then depending on where it was. If it was 35 miles away, I'd have been done for good. Which I said at the time.

If they had announced they had bought land in Hinckley and started building a stadium, I wouldn't have gone any more. If they had said Sixfields is for good, I wouldn't have gone.

So why is it different for you being able to walk to the Ricoh but not people who can walk to Sixfields to watch us play?
