The renaming is yet to happen !!
You can hate Wasps/Franchising as much as you like but don't let it cloud your judgement on whats best for CCFC.
Renting the Ricoh may not be ideal but it may just be the best CCFC can hope for. My concern is that as Wasps establish themselves CCFC may become an irritation and my sources suggest that they are not cost effective and also bad publicity is effecting sponsorship. Yes it is from a source who can't tell me everything but to me it is a risk that again Sisu are taking that may backfire.
You are confusing me with other posters, as I dont let my dislike of Wasps cloud my judgement on whats best for CCFC.
This is a Wasps foum on the CCFC, and I clearly dont like Wasps and what they stand for. It isnt CCFC related, but I would not want our football club to be owned or run, by a group who are inherently similar to SISU.
You are an advocate of time will tell, which I agree with, but I dont share the rosy outlook. Re the renaming of the stadium it will happen but I disgaree and dont think it will be Land Rover. I also feel they are currently struggling to find someone to commit to the sponsorship which highlights the fact that they arent such a big deal that they think they are. If I am proved wrong, I will be happy to hold my hands up.
I think with time Wasps will struggle, attendances will fall, as we already seeing with the novelty begining to wane with the Coventry/surrounding areas public. Couple this with an area with local teams, that have loyal embedded fans it isnt going to get better.
RE Wasps establishing themseleves, what does this mean...being here for a set time? as apart from that they dont seem to be growing in the city, conversely interest in them seems to be falling. I know a few people who have been, they wont go again, the one game novelty has been done and dusted, move on nothing to see here. Sounds a bit like Wycombe.
Re CCFC being an irritation, I cant see Richardson and Eastwood, who seem to hold cash as dear as SISU do, wanting to rid themselves of a money producing tenant at a time when they havent got the major ground sponsor they thought would be in their pocket, attendances and other associated revenues are falling, and they have committed to a costly bond scheme, which like any debt eventually has to be paid back.
I suspect the bond scheme could potentially ruin them, or at least leave them on a very unsound footing. Couple this with the football team doing well, and them not wanting the bad PR by going against the club, then I cant see what the worry about CCFC is.
Knowing RUGBY fairly well, I cant see anything but a huge Wasps fail, and your ascertain that CCFC arent cost effective, seems actually more relevant to that Rugby team who seem to love. CCFC bring in revenue that Wasps need, so I really cant understand your contstant doom mongering about how Wasps feel about them. From what I hear, its Wasps you should be worrying about more.
