Ben Wilson' race for the golden glove?! (1 Viewer)

All jokes apart and I know some of you still won't like him and would be pleased if we could get a fee, but with those kind of impressive stats I'd be amazed if he too wasnt on the radar of other clubs and that scouts were looking at him too. Ultimately the new contract signed that was scoffed at by some on here and other social media, could be a masterstroke whether he continues to improve or from a point of resale valuation.

His biggest problem will be that he's not great with the ball at his feet which seems to be the attribute most sought after in goal keepers these days rather than actually keeping goal!

In fairness, a lot of the early clean sheets were down to the defence, he didn't have a great deal to do. But he's been called upon a bit more of late though and he's been making some good saves. Certainly helping my nerves

Doing very well. The team are as a whole and that's protecting the goal but he's coming for crosses and not looking dodgy on the ball. He's doing well

Had a solid game today. Made some decent saves and claimed a few high balls/crosses. His distribution was OK today as well. Long may it continue!

Rubbish, are you really saying early clean sheets are down to the defence and any goals conceded are down to Wilson.

For a guy that had played very little first team football prior to joining us at age 26/227, there must of been a wise old head that knew he was a great GK. He’s made some mistakes, but he’s won me over this season. Moore let some soft goals in at the end of last season which was glossed over but his errors against Sunderland, Millwall and Hull probably cost us 7 points. Wilson should of been in after Millwall

I don’t think when coaches assess goal keepers for signing clean sheets are high up the list

Really solid again.

Earlier in the season I was thinking he's obviously doing miles better than Moore, but we badly need a new no1

But now I think I'd be quite happy having him between the sticks next season

Fair play to him, hell of an improvement

No, I'm saying he wasn't tested all that much because the defence were playing so well and he'd be making the odd standard save. He's been tested more of late and been making some great saves I might not have expected him to before. Can tell his confidence is up and he seems more assured now

Who was it who laughed when I said Wilson had improved this year? One of the most impressive improvements I can remember. Still has his moments but looks like a proper keeper more often than not now.
Even I, somebody who has never rated him, am starting to change my mind. He's improving, better starting position, better anticipation. Fair play to him really.

With 11 games to play, the law of averages probably means he will make at least one error leading to a goal between now and the end of the season. We need to keep his performances this season in mind to give that some perspective when he does and hope that any mistakes are not crucial ones, as jumping straight on his back won't help him or the team. Different matter of course if he has a 'Moore' like run though!

He has improved over the course of the season but our clean sheets are more down to the return of Mcfadzean and the signing of McNally.

Its funny there was only a few of us that stuck with Wilson, admittedly I did call for Moore to come back in just before the Wrexham game but then again who didnt. Throughout the rest stuck by him and now look, always new there was a good keeper in there

Big Oggy was hopeless at times with his distributing and kicking but if we could recreate a 28 year old Oggy would you like him between the sticks, I know I would.
