Brandon Mason (1 Viewer)

As has been alluded to in previous threads something must have happened behind the scenes. As has also been mentioned he is a better left back than wingback. However, given our predicament of having just one unproven and possibly ill / injured LWB (Josh Reid), surely we need to keep Brandon Mason in or around the team? I know some disagree but I have always thought he is a tidy defender and his offensive delivery isn't too different to McCallum. The one thing McCallum (who I really rate overall) is far superior at is his heading ability.
Robins is obviously going to be looking to recruit in this area but there no guarantees that he will be able to bring in anyone better. If he does then Mason is a useful back up for when we revert to a back 4.

Whilst I understand why you think this, it’s been made clear there will be no way back for the lad whilst MR is in charge.

There is no disputing we need another Lb and at least another one Cd however is Mason the player we need in the championship I dont know.
it is quite clear though that our defence is a lot weaker than last year at the moment and MR needs to pull out a couple of rabbits as even last year our defence was found wanting especially in the first half of the season

I liked Mason but he's a league one leftback. If we can't bring in anyone better we'll have real issues. He needs to move on.

He’s in the bomb squad and there is no way back

There is no way back for Mason otherwise he would have traveled to Spain. It’s obvious Robins doesn’t think he can be coached into a LWB.

Has he definitely been left behind or is he one of them who are having to self isolate? I have no idea, but there seems to be a few players missing form the Spain trip. Both he and Hilsner were training with the first team when they first came back, and neither have featured in the u23s games. I dont doubt we will be trying to move him on though

He's going to be moved on. It's just weird how he went form signing a new 3 year deal to being out of the picture permanently in like a week.

So you're saying there's still hope we can move Wilson on?

He has a bit of a Biamouesque cult following and I'm not sure how. He never really proved himself at league one level for me. Massively inconsistent. Positionally all over the place sometimes. Seems a good lad though so hope he gets the chance to prove himself at whatever level.

Before Rotherham away, he was definitely an early POTY contender. Injuries, a change of system with wingbacks, and McCallum’s form resulting in him falling down the pecking order.

Looked ok v Birmingham in the cup replay, but that’s about it from memory.

We’ll ship him on, I’m sure he could do a good job elsewhere as there’s a player in there somewhere.

So was Zain Westbrooke (POTY contender), Robins is magic.

Common ploy isn’t it? Longer left on contract= higher fee

He signed the contract two years ago and hasn’t played since hardly

Perhaps he may get that chance next season as I am predicting maybe a formation change as with the players we have got we can easily play a 4222 or a 4231

I'd be very surprised by that.
Massively exposes the serious lack of pace in all of our CBs (excluding Pask), gives less options on playing out from the back & curbs the natural attacking instincts of Dabo, Dacosta etc. Creates far more problems than it tackles.

I think Dacosta would prosper more as a RW/RM

He does seem more of a threat going forward, and is usually on the front foot, Watching him attempting things II always think of the phrase 'sh*t or bust'. He is the polar opposite of James in terms of composure, yet he does have something (more in an attacking sense, than defensive)

To be honest I meant this as a wind up in ways, but was stating something of which I think at the same time so that I dont get the DABO AT CDM response

People used to say the same about Ryan Haynes
