Callum O'Hare (2 Viewers)

So West Ham have just spunked £25m on a random Brazilian teenager. Yet I was told they were skint and therefore interested in O’Hare on a free? 🤣

I wonder if West Ham are preparing for Paqueta getting a life long ban from football! Still I can see Callum going to a few prem clubs (not West Ham) Fulham or Bournemouth maybe.

Southampton and Burnley now face competition from Leeds United as the trio of clubs attempt to sign soon-to-be free agent Callum O'Hare.

Is that really a step up?

Two years ago he was leaving us for another Championship club. His wages - and let’s face it his profile - would be significantly higher at Leeds. If he doesn’t get the move he wants to the Prem or abroad, I really doubt he would think twice about leaving us for Burnley or Leeds.

Yet we bought Haji, Saka, Milan and Torp and they’ve been brilliant. To me it makes absolutely no sense to regress back to the old days of getting cast-offs from other championship teams on a free.

Nearly all of our championship or league 1 signings have been suspect at times, compared to our European signings from last season it’s night and day.
Just because we've had quite a lot of success with our recent foreign signings but less with our lower league ones doesn't mean that is always the case. Some of our best players in the past have come from lower league. We've also signed some absolute dross from abroad.

Southampton is. Leeds and Burnley both have more chance of promotion than we do and would pay significantly more. Think he'd see it as a step up.

True, and I’m not completely discounting championship or league 1 players, but I just think there’s a massive pool of talent out there. Why should we constrict ourselves to just two leagues when there’s about 10+ leagues out there, plus the players in these leagues are often cheaper because time has to be put in to scout them in the first place, not everyone is therefore after the same well known players.

He will be gone regardless of a ban or not. They had a deal scuppered by the enquiry. So already wanted rid.

Leeds yes, but Burnley? I’m not having that Burnley are a big club.

Well different people measure these things in different ways. But recently Burnley were valued at £200m and Coventry at £56. Burnley were showing profits of 63m but these reversed with relegation (not talking this season). I can't remember last time we showed a profit?

They have a very large support for a small town and situated in a very competitive are, just like we are. Before the 1960's Coventry were always a lower division side. Also our levels of support has fluctuated, even before SISU.

Burnley if they really wanted O'Hare, could probably offer more wages than us. As could Leeds.

Can’t think of any under Robins TBF

Well some of our players in our team now have come from leagues with a lower status than the English Championship.

Its agent talk. Clearly his foreign deal wasn’t all it was cracked up to be so he asked his agent to pump him around, nothing doing so now he’s considering our deal again.

None of it adds up to a PL club being interested, let alone a top half one, or he’d be gone already.

Even if there was a foreign deal?

Yeah but we were also lower status, so they weren’t lower league signings. Just can’t think of one, maybe McCallum, but he feels more of a youth pickup than your normal lower league signing. Jodi Jones? Did Robins sign him?

See COH agent trying to drum up final interest re Leeds /burnley/saints link.

He really needs to think carefully, not rose tinted but another solid season for us may do him better in long run.

Is he going to walk into those sides and be first choice?

Doubt it, but I can see the attraction for him anyway. Any of those teams will pay far more and have a better chance of getting to the prem (soton already there). Very low risk investment for them too, especially Leeds who need to offload players.

He just needs to make a decision now either way then both parties can move on if he is leaving.

Love it if he stayed

Yesterday's news from our workplace ITK, Steve was: "Callum O'Neill has just rejected the clubs contract offer".
Steve, a man of pensionable age (in fact he is retiring in a couple of months) has only recently jumped aboard the Sky Blue express (Now a ST holder but previously a long range sniper of the club) he has constantly not just struggled to name more than 3 or 4 team players but when doing so invariably gets their name wrong.
Just last week he informed me a player called 'Hodden' was going to Birmingham City for 1.3 million.
After deducting he probably meant 'Godden', I then tried to explain to him that over the hill championship strikers with dwindling potency don't command that sort of fee and to stop getting his info off the facebook forum.
He didn't heed my advice and had a wager with a blues fan that 'Hodden' was on his way.
The blues fan already tasting the lager readily accepted the wager and earlier this week was the recipient of four cans of cheap Polish elixir.
Steve's historical condemnation of our previous owners, 'CISCO' is legendary.
I think we're all gonna miss him.

Respectfully mate, I would change your user name if I were you. ‘Mong’ isn’t really ok these days. For some reason Coventry seems to be a place where it is a popular slur.

Could be his actual name?
