Can we do a Forest (1 Viewer)

If we kept the team together and SISU actually invested in January, then we’d have a decent chance of the top 6 at this rate.

Think we have to hit the ground running again after the break, deal with the Reading game with no Fadz and then hope for the best in the January window. Also started feeling a bit like the L1 winning season to me too before the break. We'd gone from scraping wins to looking very confident and winning games by 2 clear goals. The positives and negatives of the break have been discussed on other threads but it felt like we had some unstoppable momentum building.
I’m going to the Cardiff game so that’ll be a defeat.

Just checked back on the league 1 winning results. Only 4 of the 18 wins were by more than a single goal. That's shocked me as it felt so comfortable!

Our away form has been pretty decent, infact more than decent this season. Compared to league 1 season.

Also look at most teams that win the league or finish top 6 in the championship. Its those that keep clean sheets will inevitably finish top 6.

We did get the engine running though in the Covid interrupted run.

I think Robins knows his 1st 11 are more than good enough
he has sent a few messages out recently in his interviews
I would imagine if he is not supported this maybe his last season

Supported may still mean selling Vik, but so long as he gets £8m-£10m back to invest, then all is good
We will never replace big vik for that, but we could find a different answer

The only chance is to keep the team together and add a couple of 'quality' loans to bulk out the squad for when injuries and suspensions inevitably kick in. At this moment in time that is a very unlikely scenario.

Huh? So no we cant. But we can make top 2 if we keep our best X1 on the pitch. Makes no sense.

Question was can we do a Forest. Bottom to play offs.

Well yes, it does. You've answered your own question

The first 11 is good enough for autos.

The rest of the squad is massively inferior so to do a forest, no we cant, because we have to rely on the inferior squad through suspensions and injuries

If you discounted Forest's first 11, then the rest of their squad would be massively inferior. Not sure I see your point either.

Footballing wise a sale in the summer is infinitely better. We’ll have a load of dead wood off the books then as well so any funds can be used better. I think all we’d get in Jan is Hyam and Vik/Cal/boths wages plus whatever funds.

Its going to be a big re build this summer whatever happens now till then.

How much of O'Hare's wages could be used is a bit of a grey area. Didn't SBB or BD claim his salary was completely unsustainable for the club?

Well technically everyone’s are cos clearly we’re skint. But I assume he was on a sustainable wage before his new deal so that at least.

This will all depend on the Sisu, if they turn down offers and add 2 signings it could be the play offs is a realistic target with no pressure to do so.

If new owners are in then that should be the remit for MR. Nobody sold and sensible additions made sends a clear signal to all concerned we are targeting it.

But current form and if this current squad stays fit and together until end of season. No reason to believe they couldn't make top 6 with games to spare.

Almost every season this league has lots of close games and often the difference between success and failure is a top striker. We currently have one and they're difficult to find hence why teams pay so much more for them than any other position. Basically if we sell Vik we're fekked.

We arguably can't afford to see anyone gone but I'd rather sell Hamer AND O'hare than lose Vik.

I think it’ll be next to impossible to keep him beyond the summer unless we manage a miraculous promotion. Even beyond January will be tough, a lot of teams lower down the top flight table and in need of someone just like him.

Which would work in our favour in terms of a bidding war-but hopefully we’re scouting as far as we can to prepare for that.

I'm a realist but this recent form has got me carried away. No one knows what will happen in January. Should we hold on to everyone I believe we have a very realistic chance of ending up in the playoffs.

With Gyok, I hope that if we get to Jan and we are up there. Hopefully he'll want to see out the season with us rather than itching for a move.

If we are 3rd/4th in Jan with a game still in hand, it would blow my mind if SISU pushed anyone out the door. Unless it was a ridiculous figure that was offered.

It's a game at a time and I'm enjoying it, the results and atmosphere (H & A) keep you drawn in. If we turn up back after the break and turn over Reading, the momentum will build up again.

Sisu need to go before the January window as to not be able to sell and cash in our main assets . ( the big 5-five ) .
But the other scenario is if this did happen the NEW owners could sell some of the (5) to recoup monies !!!
Best hope whatever happens the new land lords have ambition buy Sisu and go for bust.

Not for me.

Above all, I'm convinced C O'H is the glue that keeps CCFC's spirit burning bright. He's like a naughty schoolboy, and other players will cry like babies when he finally leaves. Wouldn't sell Vik until the summer though, as if he keeps playing like this I'm not sure his value will decrease.

But arguably a less attractive proposition to signings if we've sold some of our star players. Or if the sign on the promise they won't be sold and then are, we've got some disgruntled players in the squad.

I kind of feel like this year could have been our opportunity. We've already had a setback from where we could be due to the pitch issues making us play catch up, which we've done superbly.

Of course, it could have been different were it not for that and O'hare's injury that may have ended up being a blessing in disguise.

But we're far more likely to see at least one sold off under the current owners and our chances scuppered and I'd really hope we might see movement on a sale before the transfer window where we may have a different owner who would be willing to fund some additions instead.

Of course there's no guarantees there either. Those that come in may not improve he squad the way we hope (remember Carbonari and Ramage?), important players could get injuries. if it were MA then he has a history of getting rid of managers to bring in his own that could scupper us and realy demoralise the squad and fans.

The club simply can't afford to see everyone stay either which sadly is the issue.

Genuine Q: have we ever made a proper sale in the summer? IIRC Maddison and McCallum both went in Jan. Who have we sold for cash in the summer, not counting Hyams last minute deal.
You probably have to go back to Sheffers.

I think what's hes trying to say is Forest had more strength in depth and quality in the squad so there wasn't a massive gulf in quality when there were injuries or suspensions.
