Another one Bristol City paid over a million quid for to let walk.

Transfer business there has been bonkers.
I don't disagree with you. Diedhiou was another. They paid £4.7m and he left at the end of his contract a year ago. It's a bit different coz they wanted him to stay.
However their model has been to sell players for big bucks to Premiership teams, Webster went to Brighton for £20m. Kelly to Bournemouth for £13m. Brownhill to Burnley for £7m. I think Flint to Boro for £6m. These are all from the top of my head so I stand to be corrected. Their transfer business isn't necessarily what's screwing them. It's the wages they pay. They blame Covid for taking the money out of the transfer marked and stopping them selling players. I've got little sympathy.
They've got an 18 year old Alex Scott who they'll get big money for. Arguably Han Noah Massengo and Antoine Semenyo.
They'll probably need to sell one pretty pronto to avoid FFP issues.

By my count we’ve not got 20 first team players even counting Dacosta at the moment. If we get shot of him, Kelly, Kane, Waghorn and Walker as suggested I reckon that puts us at 14, so six signings minimum before we’re onto the kids at first injury.

Edit: we used 25 last season, even chucking Tavares and Howley into the mix, I think we need 4-9 signings depending on outgoings.

As previously mentioned though, six outgoings doesn't necessarily translate into room being made for six signings due to the club likely having to shoulder a decent proportion of the aforementioned players wages.

I'd imagine if we're successful in shipping out all of the above then realistically that'd only make room for 2-3 signings.

Just to point out to everyone (not just you shmmeee...)

It's still only 7 subs on the bench. Just allowed to use 5 instead of 3 now. It was incorrectly reported as going up to 9 earlier in the year it seems.

Ah! Didn’t know that. I’d obviously read an old article. Cheers.

Im more banging the drum about what a thin squad we can sustain TBH. Whatever the bean counting required, from a football perspective I’d argue you need at least 20 players before you get to the kids, ideally 22/23.

I know he was player of the season in L2 but it is quite a step up to the Championship. Has age on his side, do you see him making the jump with ease?

Big jump undoubtedly but imo has the talent to make it work. I'd imagine almost every Championship team would have had an interest in him.

Strange he’s decided on Bristol City then if that’s the case, been tipped to struggle this year?

Making some big moves already, Kal Naismith & Mark Sykes won't have been short of options either. I wonder if Lansdown is pushing the boat out for a big push. Not sure Pearson can deliver it personally but time will tell.

Frees weren’t they? Can’t imagine they had to push the boat out too much wages wise to sign someone who’s been at Forest Green!

Frees in terms of fees yeah but reasonable wage & long contracts. I agree though, the players are obviously buying into the project there.
Imo Naismith is a top Championship player & Wilson has potential to be the same. Thought he might have followed Rob Edwards to Watford in truth.

To be fair I seen them a couple of times last season and they looked alright but League 2 to the championship is a big step up.

Agree but a couple have a chance imo. I've been banging the drum of LWB Nicky Cadden for over a year, wouldn't mind him here.

I imagine Watford combined with their other teams have better options but Kane Wilson certainly has plenty of potential.

You’re only allowed to stop the game for subs three times under this new rule, so it won’t be quite that bad, but it will undoubtedly make games go on for longer.
Prevent all the dicking around. Subs can only be made in the second half whilst the ball is in play. Have the fourth official hold the 12th player off the pitch and not let them on till the current player is off the pitch.

Penalty given if 12 are on the pitch.

Let physios onto the pitch during the play a la Rugby.

They just need to stop the clock when the balm goes out of play. I know we would have to change the lengths of the halves probably to 35 minutes each, but that’s fine, would stop all fucking about.

A young lad from my sons school in Stratford has just signed for Forest Green, Zach McKenzie. Don't know what he's like, but he is an all round athlete (think he may be a GB triple jumper). Saw him play rugby when he was younger, and he was seriously rapid. Will watch out for him - hope he's not a local lad we've missed.

How much work does St Andrews need? if someone with the cash appears is it a quick fix or are they looking at stands staying closed for months while the work is done.
